5 Switching definitions S/NZS 6097 and IEC 6097 manufacturing standards Definitions Switch (S/NZS 6097 &.) mechanical connection device capable of: making, carrying and breaking currents under normal circuit conditions ), possibly including specified operating overload conditions. carrying currents in abnormal circuit conditions such as shortcircuit conditions for a specified duration (a switch may be able to make shortcircuit currents, but it cannot break them). 146 L 7 loadbreak switches Introduction Modular loadbreak switches 6 to 0 amps The L 7 range of loadbreak switches are available in frame sizes (7 current ratings) and are suitable for use as motor isolators (C ) in the range of 7.5 to 5 kw. ll switches utilise the same handle style, all of which can provide door interlocking facilities. Clipon accessories enable quick assembly of pole switches from basic pole versions. The addition of auxiliary contacts, earth and neutral terminals enhances the range of applications. Metal or modular plastic extension shafts IP 66 Selection of Operating handles The LFS operating handles can be used with both L7 base mounted and LE7 panel mounted switches. The use of the LFC handle for LE7 pannel mount switches up to 6 mps utilises mounting via standard.5 mm dia. hole. Two handle types are padlockable, with type E and L for one padlock, or type G and N for three padloacks. Economical shift extension kits are available includin thermoplastic (modular) or a metallic telescopic type. The latter has the advantage of being suitable for deep switchboard construction and incorporates a padlock facility on the switch body itself as well as a door interlock mechanism and padlock on the operating handle. Enclosed loadbreak switches The LY 7 enclosed loadbreak switches are the perfect solution for local isolation of motors as well as other plant and equipment.
