You ca use your remote cotrol with Media Ceter to play CDs, DVDs, to view pictures, ad to watch ad record televisio programs. This remote cotrol helps you avigate the Media Ceter widows o your computer just as a TV remote cotrol helps you avigate cable TV optios or cotrol the playback of a movie i a VCR or DVD player. 17 Watchig ad Recordig TV Programs Watch live TV or record your favorite shows for later playback. Use the Televisio Program Guide to fid the show you wat to watch or record.you ca also record a show while watchig aother prerecorded show. Navigatig My TV From the My TV widow you ca search for ad play your favorite TV shows. Use the followig meu items to help you locate what you wat to do: Live TV: Watch, pause, fast-forward, or rewid your favorite TV shows. You ca watch recorded TV shows while recordig aother show. Use the More iformatio butto o the remote cotrol to display TV show iformatio. Recorded TV: View a list of recorded programs by date or title, view a list of programs scheduled to be recorded, play a recorded program, fid out why a program was t recorded, or add a TV recordig maually. Search: Quickly fid a TV program or a series to watch or record by eterig a descriptive word, program title, or program category. Guide: (Not available i all coutries/ regios.) 18 Watchig TV You ca chage the chael by usig the remote cotrol while i full-scree mode or whe the iset widow is selected. You ca go to live TV from aywhere i Widows Media Ceter by pressig Live TV o the remote cotrol. You ca select a chael to see upcomig programs for that chael. Before you ca watch TV by usig Media Ceter, make sure: The computer is set up correctly for your TV sigal source. Refer to the setup poster ad the HP Media Ceter Gettig Started Guide for more iformatio. You have completed the Media Ceter setup wizard. If you have ot completed the setup wizard, refer to Completig the setup wizard steps o page 3. Watchig Live TV 1 Press the TV butto o the remote cotrol or select My TV from the mai start meu. Use the arrow buttos o the remote cotrol to select Live TV, ad the press OK. The last chael selected or the first chael available begis playig. 2 Select a chael by usig the CH/PG (+) or ( ) buttos or by usig the umeric keypad o the remote cotrol, ad the press Eter o the remote cotrol. The chael umber ad program iformatio are displayed i the widow. 3 Press the More iformatio butto to ope aother meu with the followig optios ad iformatio: i A zoom optio. 19 Cotrollig TV playback The persoal video recorder fuctioality lets you record sigle shows or capture etire series for later viewig. Whe you ope the My TV widow ad begi watchig live TV, Media Ceter begis recordig the selected program i the backgroud for up to 30 miutes. Whe you pause a live TV program while watchig i full-scree mode, the time-shiftig widow appears. You ca retur to the live broadcast by pressig the Live TV butto o the remote cotrol. Whe you chage the chael, Media Ceter deletes the previously recorded portio ad begis recordig agai after a short delay. You caot use time shiftig whe recordig a TV program. For example, you ca t pause a live TV program ad the rewid to the begiig of the pause buffer ad the begi recordig. You ca record a TV program oly from live TV. The 30-miute pause buffer applies oly whe pausig, rewidig, ad fastforwardig live TV. Media Ceter allows you to record a program for loger tha 30 miutes. 20 Usig the remote cotrol i My TV Butto Actio To freeze the live TV image, press Pause. While paused, My TV cotiues to record a pause buffer for up to 30 miutes. The Guide displays the chael ad etwork, as well as the program title, scheduled time block, ad a brief descriptio of the program. The umber of days displayed depeds o your televisio service provider; most providers display up to 14 days. By selectig a program title, a detailed descriptio of the program appears at the bottom of the widow. Importat iformatio about the Televisio Program Guide Televisio Program Guide data may ot be available i your coutry/regio. You ca still record TV programs without a Guide; see Recordig TV without the Televisio Program Guide o page 23. If there is o Guide data available whe you try to dowload or search for Guide iformatio, the followig messages may appear: Dowload Icomplete: We were uable to locate ay Guide iformatio for the followig reaso: Guide data is ot available for the coutry or regio settig you selected i the Cotrol Pael Settigs. The PC will ot automatically go ito stadby mode if Media Ceter is ope. Make sure you tur off the moitor ad tur dow or mute the volume if, for example, you have a scheduled recordig i the middle of the ight ad do ot wat to be disturbed. Recordig TV Programs Media Ceter allows you to record TV programs so that you ca watch them whe it is coveiet. You ca record the program you are watchig, or you ca record a future program or series from the Guide, the Search, or the Recorded TV widow i My TV. You ca record two programs at the same time if your PC has two TV tuers (select models oly). If a recordig error occurs, the program will ot be recorded uless the coflict is resolved. If you try to schedule a recordig ad aother is already scheduled for the same time, a coflict widow appears ad gives you the optio to record the ew program or record the previously scheduled program. To make sure your program is beig recorded, select My TV, Recorded TV, ad the select Scheduled. The Record ico also appears ext to the program i the Guide while you are recordig. The Record ico disappears whe the recordig is complete. Recordig icos The Record ico appears i the Televisio Program Guide ext to the program scheduled to record. The Record Series ico appears i the Televisio Program Guide ext to each occurrece of a program i a series that is scheduled to be recorded. The Record Coflict/Error ico appears i the Televisio Program Guide ad the taskbar if aother program is scheduled to be recorded at the same time. Record Series meas that you select to record each episode of that program from oe chael. Media Ceter wo t record duplicate episodes. Media Ceter also looks for alterative times to record a episode if a recordig coflict arises. You ca cotiue to add sogs, or you ca delete sogs from your queue list. Usig playlists, you ca group various digital music files together ad determie the order i which you wat the files to play. You ca create a playlist that icludes several tracks from various CDs or eve a playlist that cotais backgroud music for a slide show. You ca create playlists i Widows Media Player or from withi Media Ceter. To create a playlist: 1 Select My Music, ad the select either Albums, Artists, Playlists, Sogs, or Geres. 2 Use the arrow buttos to avigate to the music you wat to add to your playlist. 3 Press OK to select a sog. 4 Select Add To Queue. Both programs work together to orgaize, search for, ad display your digital images. It is desiged to orgaize your photos, scaed images, ad video clips by date, keyword, or place. My Pictures With My Pictures, you ca view ad prit your pictures from the folders you create i the My Pictures directory i Widows Explorer. To capture digital video, coect your digital video (DV) camera to the FireWire (IEEE 1394) port o the frot pael of the PC. To capture aalog video, coect your VCR or aalog video camera to the Composite Video 2 or S-Video 2 coectors o the frot pael of the PC. To capture video files, you eed to: 1 Coect your video source device properly. 2 Tur your device o ad set it to playback mode. 3 Make sure WiDVD Creator ca detect your digital or aalog device. 4 If your PC has multiple video devices coected, they all appear o the Capture scree.
