3 Executive Summary The feasibility study we cnducted n smartphnes ffered by AT&T will help UNT students chse the best phne fr them. In 2014, a year f innvatins, students use smart phnes every day t cmmunicate, learn, and plan their day. In this study, we are trying t find which is the best phne fr UNT students frm AT&T with a cntract. We are basing ur chice n these criteria: Size Price Rear- facing camera Talk time User friendliness. We chse 6 phnes frm the AT&T s best-bught phnes, ne frm each cell phne maker, and then surveyed UNT students t chse the tp three. The phnes that we initially chse were: Samsung Galaxy S5 Apple iphne 5S LG G2 Mt X HTC One Nkia Lumia The UNT students limited ur ptins t the Samsung Galaxy S5, Apple iphne 5S, and LG G2 with their respnses t ur survey. We have fur majr parts t ur feasibility study: Methds f evaluatin Results and evaluatin Analysis f evaluatin Recmmendatin In the methds and evaluatin sectin we explain the methds we used t acquire ur data and calculate numbers t explain ur data t the students. In the analysis f evaluatin sectin we analyzed the data that we acquired frm tw surveys and the AT&T website. We als restated imprtant infrmatin UNT students need t buy the best phne. In the recmmendatin sectin we recmmended the best phne frm the three ptins based n the criteria and the userfriendliness survey. We recmmend the Samsung Galaxy S5 because f three main reasns. The reasns we recmmend the Samsung Galaxy S5 are: The Samsung Galaxy S5 wn the user-friendly survey. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has the best rear-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has the lngest talk time f ur phne ptins. iv

4 Intrductin t Feasibility Study n the Best Smartphne Frm AT&T fr UNT Students UNT students can use ur feasibility study t chse the best phne they can buy in an AT&T cntract. This study will help UNT students make the best chice n what smartphne t buy. A cntract frm AT&T means a perid f 2 years that a student must pay fr the plan that he r she chses. Based n a number f criteria and tw surveys that we cnducted, we decided n the best phne fr UNT students t buy. We limited ur ptins t the 6 mst bught phnes frm each cell phne manufacturer n the AT&T s website and then surveyed UNT students t narrw ur ptins dwn t the tp three. Based n ur survey, we chse the fllwing phnes frm ur 6 riginal chices: iphne 5s Samsung Galaxy S5 LG G2 Our hypthesis was that the iphne 5S wuld be the best phne based n all f ur criteria. In the fllwing sectins we will intrduce ur methds f evaluatin, the results f ur evaluatin, ur cnclusin f the results, and make a recmmendatin f the best smartphne frm AT&T fr UNT students. 1

5 Methds f Evaluatin Optins Survey We began ur feasibility study by cnducting a survey f thirty UNT students t see which smartphnes available frm AT&T they preferred. We chse the newest smartphne made by each cell phne manufacturer (Samsung, Apple, LG, Mtrla, HTC, and Nkia) ffered by AT&T. We cnducted ur survey at 3:45pm Mnday, April 28,2014 at the Willis Library Mall. We have prvided a list f the survey questins belw. Frm the survey questins belw we fund the tp three smartphnes chsen by UNT students. These are the questins we used in ur survey: 1. We fund that the price range between $0 with a cntract t $ with a cntract. We based the size criteria n the size f the phne display measure diagnally acrss the screen. We based the battery life criteria n talk time, meaning hw many hurs the battery can last while yu are making phne calls. We fund that the battery life ranges between 10 hurs f talk time t 29 hurs f talk time. We based the camera criteria n rear facing cameras by the number f megapixels. We based the user friendliness criteria n the pinin f UNT students. Students can have their pinin swayed by the user friendliness and can disregard r purchase a cell phne based n the list criteria. The infrmatin fr the ther criteria (price, display size, battery life, and camera) was all taken frm the AT&T website AT&T prvides infrmatin n price, display size, batter life, and cameras fr all f the phnes that they ffer their custmers. 6

10 Results f Evaluatin We rated the phnes n a pint scale f 1 t 3; 1 being the wrst ptin and 3 being the best. The phne we give the highest number f pints based n surveys and ther criteria is the best phne ut f the three ptins. We are basing ur chice f the best phne n the fllwing criteria: Price Display Size Talk Time Camera User Friendly Price We based the price f each phne n the cst f the phne with a tw-year cntract frm AT&T. The lwer the price the mre practical the phne is fr UNT students. The LG G2 is free with a cntract and the iphne 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are $ with a cntract. 11 Display Size We based the size criteria n the size f the screen n each phne. The best ptin is the LG G2 because the screen is 5.2 inches diagnally. The wrst ptin is the iphne 5S because the screen is 4 inches diagnally. 12 Talk Time We based the battery life criteria n the phnes talk time. The lnger the phnes battery will last while in use the better the phne will serve UNT students. The best ptin in the Samsung Galaxy S5, and the wrst ptin is the iphne 5S. 13 Camera We base the camera criteria n the megapixels in the rear-facing camera in each phne. The mre megapixels the camera has the better picture the camera will take. The best ptin is the Samsung Galaxy S5. The wrst ptin is the iphne 5S. We included asked UNT students t scre each phne n a scale f 1 t 5; 1 being the wrst and 5 being the best. 16 Analysis f Evaluatin We hypthesized that the iphne 5S wuld be the best verall phne fr UNT students. Based n five criteria f price, display size, talk time, camera, and user friendliness, we rated the three phne ptins n a three pint rating scale. In the fllwing paragraphs we will analyze the results f each criteria. Analysis f Smartphne Prices The first criteria we evaluated is the price f each phne with a tw-year cntract. The prices ranged frm free t $ The best ptin is the LG G2 because its free. The iphne 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are wrse ptins because they bth cst $ The LG G2 is better fr UNT students because it has a lwer price than the iphne 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S5. UNT students already pay fr tuitin, bks, husing, parking, and fd. Therefre, the lwer the price f the cell phne the mre feasible that phne is fr UNT students t purchase. Analysis f Smartphne Display Sizes The secnd criteria we evaluated is the display size f each phne. The display size measured diagnally acrss the phne screen. The display sizes ranged frm 4 inches t 5.2 inches. The LG G2 is the best ptin based n display size, and the iphne 5S is the wrst ptin. The bigger the display the easier it is t read text, watch vides, search the internet, and use applicatins. UNT students use their phnes t check blackbard, prfessrs, cntact grup members fr prjects, and stay in tuch with family. A bigger screen helps students accmplish these tasks. Analysis f Smartphne Talk Time The next criteria we evaluated is the hurs f talk time. The hurs f talk time fr the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the best at 29 hurs. The iphne has the lwest hurs f talk time at 10 hurs. UNT students need reliable phnes with lng battery life t cnnect, cmmunicate, and learn. UNT students need their phnes t maintain battery thrughut the schl day. Analysis f Smartphne Rear Facing Cameras The next criteria we evaluated is the rear facing camera n each phne. The cell phne manufacturers included aut fcus and flash in each f the phnes. We based the value f each camera n the amunt f megapixels each camera has. We fund that the Samsung Galaxy S5 had the mst megapixels, and the iphne had the least. UNT students can use the camera n their phnes fr class prjects and dcumenting their time at UNT. Analysis f Smartphne User Friendliness The last criteria we evaluated is the user friendliness based n survey respnses frm UNT students. UNT students rated the phne ptins n a 5-pint scale based n verall rating, features, ease f use, battery life, display size, design. UNT students rated the Samsung Galaxy S5 the highest in user friendliness. UNT students rated the LG G2 as the lwest in user friendliness. UNT students need a user friendly phne fr easy navigatin f applicatins. In cnclusin, we rated the Samsung Galaxy S5 as the best phne verall based n UNT student respnses, ur wn analysis, and in cmparisn t the iphne 5S and the LG G2. Our initial hypthesis f the iphne 5S as the winner f ur feasibility study was incrrect. We fund that 13

17 the iphne 5S cnsistently rated lwer n ur criteria than the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G2. Althugh we fund that the Samsung Galaxy S5 scred lwer than the LG G2 n screen size and price, the Samsung Galaxy S5 scred the highest n rear-facing camera, talk time, and user friendliness. Therefre, we rate the Samsung Galaxy S5 as the best phne fr UNT students. Recmmendatin Based n the results f ur study, we recmmend the Samsung Galaxy S5 as the best phne fr UNT students. We fund that the Samsung Galaxy S5 received the highest ratings frm ur criteria f talk time, rear camera, and user friendliness, and scred well in display size. In additin, UNT students gave the Samsung Galaxy S5 the highest rating n ur survey, which makes it the mst preferred phne f ur ptins. We prpse that Samsung Galaxy S5 is the best cmbinatin f price, display size, talk time, rear camera, and user friendliness. Therefre We recmmend it as the best AT&T cntract phne. 14
