1 Readme fr Civil Site Design fr Civil 3D, AutCAD and BricsCAD This readme cntains imprtant infrmatin regarding the installatin and use f Civil Site Design versins as described abve. Civil Site Design fr Civil 3D is available fr: Multiple AutCAD Civil 3D based releases: AutCAD Civil 3D 2012 t AutCAD Civil 3D 2016 (64bit nly) Civil Site Design fr AutCAD is available fr: Multiple AutCAD based releases: AutCAD 2012 t AutCAD 2016 (64bit nly) All AutCAD derivatives (eg: AutCAD Civil 3D, AutCAD Map 3D) release versins 2012 t 2016 (64bit nly) BricsCAD V16 (64bit install) Name Change This prduct was previusly knwn as Advanced Rad Design. Civil Site Design adpts all technical functinality f Advanced Rad Design. This is a name change nly. Frm versin 16.1 nwards, the name f the prduct is changed t Civil Site Design.. Installatin Instructins Yu d nt need t uninstall any previus versins f Civil Site Design. This installatin will install ver the tp f any previus Advanced Rad Design installatin. There are additinal questins upn installatin regarding cuntry and platfrm. This is a multi-year platfrm installer. Additinal user inputs during installatin are as fllws: Be sure t select the right Cuntry if incrrect selectin is made then uninstallatin is recmmended befre reinstall. Please nte this will remve all user settings fr the sftware. Licensing Instructins This installatin uses the Advanced Rad Design V16 License. In rder t minimise disruptin with the change in name, the licensing system still lks fr the Advanced Rad Design V16 license key (standalne and netwrk). If yu already have the netwrk licensing established r already have Advanced Rad Design V16 licensed, the sftware will cntinue t use that licensing and n licensing update is required.

2 New Features Mdel Viewer Mdel Viewer is available frm multiple Ribbn/Menu/Tlbar tabs in the sftware. Mdel Viewer enables real-time fully rendered 3D viewing and analysis f yur designs. Cre functinality includes: - Right click t pen the VGE, Crss sectin Windw, Design Data frm, extract vlumes and generate utputs - Assignment f materials based n design cdes - Exaggeratin cntrl - Aerial pht drape directly frm an image inserted int the drawing (.jpg,.bmp and.png supprted) - Sight distance analysis alng a rad and at intersectins - Drive thrugh alng a string, with user cntrl ver speed, eye and target psitin and visibility f the target. Click buttn vide utput - Inclusin f bjects (.bj files) - Inclusin f labels fr Rads, Design Data frm entries and user defined - Output screenshts and generate fly vers based n selected views. Please refer t the Appendix at the back f this dcument fr detailed infrmatin n Mdel Viewer. Welcme Screen The Welcme Screen will display when yu first run a Civil Site Design cmmand fr the day. The Welcme Screen serves a number f purpses, which include: - Autmated sftware versin checking. Users will be ntified if their sftware is ut f date and will have the ability t dwnlad and install the latest - A live news/events page will keep users ntified f upcming training events, webcasts, and much mre - Access t the Civil Site Design blg, YuTube, and technical supprt pages - Access t quick start tutrials, the help system, and readme ntes Users have the ability t set the display frequency f the Welcme Screen r turn it ff cmpletely. Versin checking can be dne independently f the Welcme Screen.

3 Rads Crss Sectin Pltting There is a new crss sectin pltting rutine, accmpanied by functinality knwn as bject tagging. Yu can stay ld schl - Access t the current plt engine is still available. Yur ld plts shuld pen in the new plt engine (check carefully thugh because sme functinality differs). We ve made the fllwing imprvements: Streamlined Interface - Freely navigate the drawing with the pltting frm pen - It s nw far easier t see what yu ve added with the new Treeview list - Settings are gruped - Bands are gruped - The Anntatins (drawn items n the sectins) are gruped - Less buttns and less clutter - Duble click edit items right click t edit r delete Click buttn update f sectin utputs - Display Update Status. Set this t aut and every change in the list f inputs will update the plt preview - Outputted Sheets can Dynamically Update - While yu re editing the VGE click the rebuild buttn t regenerate yur sectin sheets - Set dynamic update cntrls t regenerate all yur sectin utput sheets, fr all strings, as yu save design changes New Bands - Yu can nw add extra Bands t yur utput sectins - Design Cde Band - Yu can nw reprt the design Cdes (including translatin f the names fr lcal cde name requirements) in a band - Layer Band - Reprt ffsets f any bjects n selected layer/s in a band. Objects can als be tagged with a name (see belw).

4 Tagging Objects in the Drawing fr Inclusin n Sectins - Use lines, plylines, circles, arcs t add Offsets and infrmatin t the crss sectins. Name bjects fr inclusin in the sectins, bth in the bands and n the display Offset Filtering Cntrls and Band Gruping - Plt any surface (frm Civil 3D r Civil Site Design) and intelligently filter the triangles. Filter based n grade break, height difference, ffset r chrd height difference. - Clean display f imprtant features, regardless f the data surce - Selectively filter grade breaks in each Surface - Chse hw the band cntributes t the ffsets f ther bands either add it t the pl f ffsets r treat it n its wn Band Text Display Cntrls Enhanced Label Styles - Dn t settle fr a single line and tp left centred text apply Label Styles fr the bands. Justify the text where yu want in the band, use ticks instead f lines and add blcks in the band. Mre custmisatin Cntrls - Yu can nw use a blck fr the headings, in case yu want smething cmpletely different t the standard bx and text ffering - Shw sample lines in each Heading, t help crrelate between the band and the drawn display - In-band cranking is nw supprted, if that s yur thing - The ld layer list is gne wrk natively with the layers yu have created in the drawing. Grading This ribbn has been enhanced t include functinality previusly nly cntained in the Rads tab Mdel Builder and surface creatin/editing tls have been included n this ribbn tab Data Share This extends the functinality f the sftware fr multi user cllabratin. New functinality includes: Create Share Share data frm the CSD prject flder and select what bjects are shared Data can be shared directly frm the surce prject flder (knwn as a lcal share) r t a shared netwrk lcatin Data sharing extends acrss all CSD data types:

5 Surfaces Alignments Strings Pipe Netwrks Civil 3D data (surfaces and alignments) can be shared t the CSD data flder (it will then be treated as CSD bject data) Sync Share Click buttn update f anything shared frm the surce prject/drawing Changes are reflected autmatically in all drawings/prjects that are referencing (reading) the Shared data Read Share Establishes a link t any Shared data Users can pick a Share flder, then chse what individual items/bjects t read int their prject All shared data is read nly but can be used like any ther bject created in the drawing Autmatically updates when the surce data is updated (r the shared flder is updated, pending hw the data was shared) Reslved Issues / Minr Imprvements Nte: We are mving away frm displaying errr ntificatins in Ntepad and fr this release we have created a new dialg fr the display f errr ntificatins. At this stage, nt all errr ntificatins will be displayed in this new dialg, hwever we plan t wrk n adding mre ver the next few releases. Rads Using All Rads (Ttal Mdel) fr vlume calculatin nw n lnger includes strings with templates applied t them Vlume Reprt - If calculatin settings have been applied (fr example between cdes r rck surface has been changed), than these settings will be saved and used lcally fr the current prject nly. Aut Plt allws user t setup crss sectin plts that utilise the new crss sectin engine. Fixed - Deleting a knuckle wasn t updating the rad crss sectins withut a rad resample Fixed Kerb returns pltted name wasn t applied Fixed - Breakline nt functining crrectly thrugh the centre f certain types f culde-sacs Fixed - The AutCAD Output cmmand nw has a tick bx t mit XData this will stp it frm being updated autmatically whenever the AutCAD Output cmmand is run.

6 Pipes The default cver applied t drainage pipes was being incrrectly applied the pipe cver was being calculated twice in certain circumstances. An issue with accuracy f setting pipe slpes using the Set Pipe Slpe cmmand in the pipe vertical grading editr has been fixed - this was runding the slpe t the nearest 0.1% Fixed - Services set by bvert revert t invert in the VGE Fixed - Crss sectins that verlapped arund a crner wuld display the wrng lcatin f pipewrk Sftware nw uses the Lt Number t name the aut created huse cnnectins. frmat is H-[Sftware Number] Lt[Lt Number] Fixed - If there is nly ne pipe in the system and yu mve a pipe end up/dwn yu can get erratic results. This is because it is checking fr HGL and setting slpes t achieve capacity results. Fixed - When yu delete a huse cnnectin including pits & pipes ARD des nt remve it frm the txt file, has t be manually dne. It als keeps the c-rdinates s if yu want t recreate with anther name in the same lcatin it defaults t the previus name. Fixed Values setup in the drainage inflw dialg were nt being saved Knwn Issues When created Rads, Kerb Returns and ther Strings the fllwing message may display: This message is advising that the Default Surface, as defined in the Glbal Drawing Settings, is nt available in the current drawing. The current drawing settings (Lcal Drawing Settings) will nt have a surface assigned. This can be fixed by ding the fllwing: Run the cmmand Rads Tab > Settings Panel > Active Drawing On the Design Settings tab, assign a Default Surface Name using the picklist The message was included fllwing intrductin f Data Sharing, where the surface used in a prject t create Strings is critical t be included and shared t ther prjects. In the Crss Sectin Pltting cmmand, it is recmmended that users d nt use the Cpy ptin n any Height Difference, Layers/Tagged Objects and Build Surface entries. The cpied item will nt update when changes are made t that entry. If an additinal entry is required f this type, it is recmmended t create as a new entry In the Crss Sectin Pltting cmmand, using the pick list t start the CSD Built Mdels cmmand will display inactive (r incmplete) cntrls: Start/End range cntrls and Merge cntrls. These tls shuld nt be used.

7 Appendix Mdel Viewer Help Infrmatin Imprtant Infrmatin abut the Base Surface The Base Surface in Mdel Viewer was develped t prvide the user with a general representatin f the existing terrain - this surface is nt an accurate representatin f the existing surface specified. The sftware will re-triangulate the existing surface using the triangle pints that make up the existing surface. The nly bundaries (hide bundaries) added t the Base Surface are taken frm the extents f the design surfaces specified when the Trim Base ptin is ticked n. At this stage, we have nt develped a paste surface rutine in the sftware. This is planned fr next year. A paste surface rutine wuld crrectly split the triangles f the existing surface data using the extents f the design surfaces and therefre respect the existing triangulatin. S in rder t mre accurately represent this surface, the user culd either add mre pints t the existing surface r add mre strings t the design surface, whereby levels f the string are matched t the existing surface. Run Mdel Viewer Lcally (frm DATA flder) By default, all Mdel Viewer settings are accessed/stred in the Visualisatin flder lcated in the cmmn-10 lcatin. C:\PrgramData\CSS\ARD\Cmmn\cmmn-10\Visualisatin This means that styles created r textures added t Mdel Viewer are stred in the lcatin abve and nly accessible t the user n that machine. If ne f these styles is edited, than all ther prjects which use that style culd be affected. By running the Run Lcal cmmand, all settings fr Mdel Viewer are stred in the DATA flder lcatin fr the prject and therefre becme independent. All 3d mdels and aerial images will als be placed in this lcatin. This means that by running this cmmand, users can share their prject with ther users (r t the technical supprt team) and the styles and textures as specified by the riginally designer will be used. Mdel Viewer Crruptin (running the Reset cmmand) If fr whatever reasn data in Mdel Viewer becmes crrupted, the user can run the Reset cmmand, which is available in the Utilities tab fund in the Viewer Settings. Restart Mdel Viewer after ding this. ** Warning ** All data (including 3d mdels) will be remved frm the prject. Welcme Screen Vides (fr BriscCAD users) BricsCAD users may nt be able t watch sme vides within the Welcme Screen. If this is the case, hld dwn shift and select the vide link (fr the blg entry r YuTube) t pen in a new IE windw this shuld allw yu t watch the vide. Vide Output (fr BriscCAD users) BricsCAD users may nt be able t recrd vides frm Mdel Viewer, if this is the case than the fllwing additin t the bricscad.exe.cnfig file will need t be made. This file is fund in the directry C:\Prgram Files\Bricsys\BricsCAD V15 en_us. Add the fllwing t the file inside the <cnfiguratin> tag. <runtime> <generatepublisherevidence enabled="false"/> </runtime> Vide utput frmats

8 Mdel Viewer nly supprts the utput f AVI files. Hwever, the free prgram Handbrake can be used t cnvert r cmpress the file utputted by Mdel Viewer. Dwnlad Handbrake - Recrding vide When recrding a vide in Mdel Viewer, ensure that the Mdel Viewer windw is left as is and n ther windws are mved ver this lcatin. The vide is created by taking screenshts and ther windws may appear in the final vide if mved within the extents f the Mdel Viewer windw. It is recmmended yu dn t use yur cmputer whilst the recrd is in prgress. Assign Materials t Triangle This cmmand may nt wrk prperly when the triangle selected has a material applied that is transparent. Turn ff transparency frm the Material Grups cmmand prir t running this cmmand. Vertical Exaggeratin & 3d Mdels It is nt recmmended that 3d mdels are added whilst a vertical exaggeratin is set t Mdel Viewer. This can affect hw levels are set t the bject when the drape elevatin ptin is used. Sight Distance In this versin, the Sight Distance cmmand will nt take int accunt 3d mdels added t Mdel Viewer. This feature will be added in a future release f the sftware. Sight Distance Updating As lng as the Sight Distance tab is pened n the ribbn, Mdel Viewer will update the sight distance check after refreshing Mdel Viewer. Aerial image drape supprted frmats Cmmn image frmats such as bmp, png, and gif are currently supprted in Mdel Viewer. ECW files are nt currently supprted. If yu wish t use an ECW file, than ER Mapper can be used t cnvert the ECW t a JPG. ER Mapper - Rtatin f image fr aerial image drape In this versin, the sftware nly supprts rtatin f the image up t 180 degrees. If it is required t rtate the image further, than it is suggested t flip the image using a prgram such as paint.net and reimprting int CAD. What is Trim Base? If Trim Base is checked n, than the extents f the surface specified will be used as a hide bundary n the Base Surface. My design surface is nt triangulating crrectly and applying the crrect materials? This can ccur when the last cde n yur design crss sectin is matched t the existing surface (at the same lcatin as the batter). T reslve this, raise this cde by 10mm My design surface is nt trimming the base surface prperly? If the design surface is nt trimming the base surface crrectly, then there may be an issue with yur design surface bundary. The best ptin t reslve this issue is t build yur design surface using Mdel Builder and remve triangles using either CSD bundaries r by using the Delete Edge cmmand. Des anyne actually read readme s? I run Mdel Viewer frm the ribbn, but the windw des nt display?

9 If yu run Mdel Viewer, but the windw des nt display then it culd be pssibly be displayed n a secndary screen. T ensure the windw is displayed n yur primary screen, try the fllwing: 1) Click the icn in the taskbar t ensure that the prgram has fcus. Netwrk Installatin Ntes A new versin f the Netwrk License Manager is available this versin addresses issues with prxy servers. See mre details and install frm the Civil Survey Slutins Subscriptin Centre Installatin Lcatin Change Fr Autdesk installatins, there has been a requirement t change the installatin lcatin fr the sftware. Previusly the sftware was being installed t the C:\PrgramData flder. All installatins new install the sftware t C:\Prgram Files. Abut Licensing This versin uses the Infralutin Licensing. Fr the ARD V16, release, all subscriptin custmers will have received a new Serial Number (Activatin Key) fr this versin. The V16 license key will activate any ARD V16 acrss all platfrms (eg: ARD V16 n AutCAD 2016 and ARD V16 n AutCAD 2012 will bth access the same license file). Yu can btain yur Serial Number directly frm the Civil Survey Slutins Subscriptin Centre:

13 New Features Rads Vlumes Reprt The Vlumes reprt has been cmpletely re-written. Yu can nw tggle between any strings t review vlume reprts in an interactive display windw, and display summary vlumes. Yu can establish yur wn clumn display utputs fr vlume infrmatin, and utput t.csv files and as Tables directly in the drawing. The new Vlumes reprt will display when the vlumes buttn is selected n the Vertical Grading Editr windw Aut Pltting Yu can nw plt all Strings at nce, fr bth lng and crss sectins Yu can set default pltting behaviur t apply t new prjects Whenever new strings are intrduced, the Aut Plt Settings frm will display fr yu t manage utputs f the new string/s

14 General Labels New Labelling tls have been intrduced. Users can establish Label Styles t manage display f labels fr different bjects. Labels can cnsist f any cmbinatin f blcks, text bjects and plyline bjects. Grip edit f bjects within the label grup is fully supprted, and text can be riented relative t any line in the label style. Depending n the label, grip edit relcatin f the label marker is als supprted. Yu can nw create Label Styles and generate Labels fr the fllwing bjects: In Plan: Surface Labels: this includes spt elevatins and slpe directin labels Elevatins n Plyline: displays elevatin and ther infrmatin at the vertices f a plyline Chainage (Statin) at Plyline: displays chainage (statin) infrmatin fr an alignment at a plyline vertex the text psitin can be mved alng the plyline and riented relative t the plyline. Pipe Netwrk labels: display pit and pipe infrmatin n plan Huse Cnnectin Labels: display huse cnnectin infrmatin n plan Labels can be access frm the General Ribbn Tab, Rads Ribbn tab and Pipes Ribbn tab. AutCAD and BricsCAD users will have direct menu/ribbn access t the fllwing additinal label types Multi String labels cdes in plan alng a String VC Labels labels vertical gemetry n plan, alng an alignment Distance labels distances alng plyline tangents Backup ptin nw includes the 7zip frmat. 7zip is a free file zip utility.

15 Enhanced Features Rads Mdel Builder and Aut Mdel Previusly, including Aut Mdel created a trimmed mdel f all rads, kerb returns, cul-des-sacs, knuckles and rundabuts, frm which yu culd then append additinal string bjects and edit the mdel. If Aut Mdel changed, with inclusin f new strings r changes t kerb return radii, the entries in the Mdel Builder frm did nt update. Nw, when yu repen yur Mdel it will update all Aut Mdel entries. Reslved Issues Rads Pipes The Reference Line cmmand incrrectly calculated crssfalls when the Crssfall frm Table ptin was selected Mdel builder didn t crrectly trim intersectins that included rundabuts, when users pted t start with the autmatic rad mdel Mdel builder included LBAT and RBAT cdes n strings that did nt have templates assigned, with these tw cdes set with an elevatin f zer. These cdes are nw nt included When yu edited a String in the Multi Setut frm, it wuld reset the Pint Number and Order clumns back t zer. The NSW Super Tables allw fr a centreline ffset t be included this was nt being applied. Huse cnnectins nw display n the Vertical Grading Editr in the previus versin the linewrk f the huse cnnectin did nt display In the Pipe Prperties, the Level Adjustment was nt being applied when Frm Surface was selected fr the pit tp lid level The Plt t File ptin nw includes mre cntrl ver the utput.dwg previusly the sftware built a.dwg using ACAD.dwt as the riginating drawing

16 Knwn Issues The Plt t File ptin may use ACAD.dwt as the riginating drawing when creating utput files. We are still wrking n reslving this. Users impacted by this wuld need t set the Units f the drawing and type ADC at the cmmand line t transfer data frm a gd drawing/template t the utput drawing. Labelling If using a text Anchr t Symbl cntrl, the symbl that is being anchred must be abve the text in the list and flagged t be an anchr fr text Changing label styles in the Surface Label Styles frm, then using Mve Label, will result in an apparent duplicatin f labels using the ld and new style. Click n Add/Update labels t restre the labels crrectly Grading The new Vlumes tl will nt crrectly describe grading vlumes. Use the Civil 3D vlume tls r the Advanced Rad Design Surface Vlumes cmmand, r the Vlumes buttn n the Grading frm Grading Strings are nt utput t lng and crss sectin utputs in the Aut Plt rutine Grading will trim between tw adjining sectins nly it will nt reslve grading between nn-adjacent lines withut verlapping When creating a kerb return, there is an ptin t set the Cnnectin Pint Cde. This can nly be applied at the time f creating the kerb return changing it later will nt update the kerb cnnectin. The kerb return wuld need t be deleted and recreated using the Delete buttn n the kerb return frm. Adding a curve t a service pipe that results in intersecting f a sewer r drainage netwrk twice, will nt register any intersectins/clashes. In Advanced Rad Design fr BricsCAD, ensure MTFLAGS (fr multi-threading), is turned OFF. Sme users have experienced the sftware crashing when this system variable is turned n. When assigning Sewer Manhle symbls, it is pssible t autmatically assign the symbl frm ne Pit Type t the next selected Pit Type, if that secnd Pit Type did nt already have a symbl actively defined. Once the symbl is set by the user, it des nt get edited when tggling between Pit Types. If curved pipes are given a negative radius they will nt update display n rad lng and crss sectins, even if they are subsequently deleted. First, change the radius value n curved pipes t a psitive value, then edit/delete as apprpriate.

17 Tables (BricsCAD Custmers Only) If yu cannt create BricsCAD tables frm the Advanced Rad Design table utput cmmands, there is an ptin t revert t standard CAD entity tables. The prcess is: Open the Active Drawing Settings > Styles Tab Tick n the ptin Draw Tables as Lines and Text When yu select table utput, the pick list f available table styles will change t match with the ARD Table Styles yu have set up. Abut Editing the BricsCAD Table utput ARD Table Styles Users can edit the table utput by pening the file ardtablestyles.txt in the ARD Settings flder this table sets ut the text fnt, text heights (and rw heights) fr the title, headings and data rws. Edit in Ntepad as required: A view f a sample file is belw fr yur reference and t see the frmat f the file

18 Imprtant infrmatin -.NET Framewrk If yu're experiencing issues running Advanced Rad Design (i.e. yu receive an 'Unknwn cmmand' whilst running the sftware), ensure that Micrsft.NET Framewrk is turned n. Yu can turn n Micrsft.NET Framewrk by fllwing these steps Type 'Windws Features' in the Windws Start menu 2. Run 'Turn Windws Features n r ff'. 3. Ensure Micrsft.NET Framewrk is ticked n.
