1 Job Sheet 11 Connection of the Overhed Door Simultor to the Power Lines OBJECTIVE To connect the overhed door simultor to the three-phse power lines. PROCEDURE 1. Perform lockout/tgout to de-energize the Industril Wiring Trining System. The lockout/tgout procedure specific to the Industril Wiring Trining System is provided in Appendix D of this mnul. Before you perform the next step, sk your instructor to check tht the Industril Wiring Trining System is de-energized nd the lockout/tgout procedure hs been performed correctly. To void electric shock hzrds, do not continue this job sheet s long s your instructor hs not confirmed tht the Industril Wiring Trining System is deenergized nd the lockout/tgout procedure hs been performed correctly. 2. Using the informtion in the riser digrm nd interconnection digrm of the overhed door simultor, mke holes of proper sizes for the conduit connections t the loctions required in the motor control enclosure (MCE) nd the wiring trough (WT) of the system's three-phse power bus. To do so, remove the required knockouts by tpping them out using screwdriver nd hmmer. 3. Using the informtion in the riser digrm of the overhed door simultor, instll the FMC required to mechniclly interconnect the MCE to the wiring trough. For the instlltion procedure specific to FMC, refer to the mnul titled Enclosures nd Conduits (37866). Mke sure the bends in the piece of FMC re mde in ccordnce with the guidelines of Article 348 of the NEC. Securely fsten the piece of FMC with clmp to the upper horizontl metl strut of the Mobile Worksttion. Certin electricl components shown in Figure 68 my differ from those used to build the motor control circuit. Festo Didctic

Using the informtion in the riser digrm nd interconnection digrm of the overhed door simultor, instll the required conductors in the conduit tht mechniclly interconnects the MCE to the wiring trough. Use fish tpe, wire grip (e.g., bsket grip), nd wire lubriction compound when pulling the conductors into the piece of FMC. A pull line should not be required. Refer to the mnul titled Enclosures nd Conduits (37866) for the pulling procedure. Note tht: Conductors of type XHHW should be used. Conductors connected to terminls L1, L2, nd L3 of the motor control circuit (i.e., the three-phse power lines) must hve red, blck, nd blue insultion, respectively. The grounded conductor connected to the equipment grounding terminl of the motor control circuit must hve green insultion. 64 Festo Didctic

Using the informtion in the interconnection digrm of the overhed door simultor, mke the electricl connections required in the MCE nd the wiring trough to connect the three-phse power lines nd the grounded conductor to the motor control circuit. Figure 68 shows type of connector commonly used to mke electricl connections in wiring troughs. Figure 69 shows the electricl connections in the wiring trough. The specific procedure to be followed to re-energize the Industril Wiring Trining System is provided in Appendix D of this mnul. High voltge is now present in the Industril Wiring Trining System! Be creful nd follow ll usul sfety rules s you perform the following mnipultions. 7. Open the MCE door. Be creful s high voltge is now present on terminls L1, L2, nd L3 of the three-pole sfety switch (S1). 8. Connect phse sequence indictor (phse sequence tester) similr to the one shown in Figure 70 to connection nodes 31, 32, nd 33 of the motor control circuit. No voltge is present on these connection nodes since the three-pole sfety switch is set to the O (off) position. To do the connection, disconnect wires no. 31, 32, nd 33 from the reversing (REV.) three-pole contctor then connect these wires to the lligtor clips of the phse sequence indictor. Refer to the user's mnul of your phse sequence indictor for operting instructions. Festo Didctic

Using n djustble wrench, rotte the shft of the three-pole sfety switch so s to turn the switch on nd pply the power line voltges to the phse sequence indictor. Look t your indictor to confirm tht the three voltges re present on the fused side of the three-pole sfety switch nd see whether or not the phse sequence of these voltges is correct. 10. Using the djustble wrench, rotte the shft of the three-pole sfety switch so s to turn the switch off nd remove the power line voltges from the phse sequence indictor. Disconnect the phse sequence indictor from connection nodes 31, 32, nd 33 of the motor control circuit. Reconnect wires no. 31, 32, nd 33 to the reversing (REV.) three-pole contctor s indicted in the connection digrm of the motor control circuit. Close the MCE door. 11. If the phse sequence you observed is correct (clockwise rottion), go to step 14. Otherwise (counterclockwise rottion), go to the next step. 12. Perform lockout/tgout (follow the instructions given in step 1 of this job sheet). 13. Verify the electricl connections tht you mde in the MCE nd the wiring trough to connect the three-phse power lines to the motor control circuit, mke the corrections required, nd go bck to step 6 of this job sheet. If you re sure tht you mde the correct electricl connections in the MCE nd the wiring trough, sk for the ssistnce of your instructor to find the problem source. 14.
