61 Geotechnical Site Investigation Purpose of Investigation Gather additional soil information to validate existing data and characterize subsurface conditions for the design and construction of stations, tunnels, and cross passages Cross passages connect the two tunnels and house mechanical and electrical equipment along the alignment Install groundwater monitoring wells and gas probes to be used for monitoring prior to and during construction 8
