8 Section 1 Update: La Brea Station What s Happened So Far 8 Metro Advanced Utility Relocation (AUR) Work 147 work days complete Current utility work is 55% complete Relocating electrical and water lines Wilshire between S. Detroit St. and S. Orange Dr. La Brea between W. 8 th and W. 6 th Streets Sunday-Thursday 8PM 6AM Saturday 8AM 6PM Does not include work being performed directly by utility companies Typical cross-section of underground utilities All Metro/City of LA coordination per existing Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA)

9 9 Section 1 Update: La Brea Station What s Next February 2014: LADWP scheduled to start utility connections Community will continue to receive work notices Spring 2014: Begin contacts with property owners and tenants in advance of pre-construction surveys

10 10 Section 1 Update: Fairfax Station What s Happened So Far Exploratory shaft: 18 W x 38 L X 70 D shaft Construction days completed: 175 Current depth: 50 + March 2014: Anticipate completion of excavation Monday-Friday 6AM-10PM Saturday 8AM-6PM

11 Section 1 Update: Fairfax Station What s Next 11 Exploratory shaft: March 2014: 9-month data-gathering period begins Provide information about ground characteristics and its anticipated behavior during construction for Design- Builder Advanced Utility Relocation (AUR) contract: Wilshire/Fairfax RFP issued February 2014: Bids due April 2014: Anticipate beginning relocation of fiber-optic duct banks Anticipate same work hours as La Brea All Metro/City of LA coordination will occur per existing Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA)

14 14 Section 1 Update: Wilshire/Crenshaw Yard What s Happened So Far August 2013: Staging for Wilshire/La Brea AUR began Low-impact back-up alarms used on trucks in yard Noise awareness training being conducted Yard will be used as staging site throughout utility relocation and Section 1 construction Metro will continue to provide routine maintenance inside and outside yard

15 Section 1 Update: Wilshire/Crenshaw Yard What s Next Just Completed: 20 sound fence installed around SW corner of yard All Section 1 Contractors use yard for staging Through April 2014: Wilshire/La Brea AUR April 2014: Wilshire/Fairfax AUR commences TBD: Wilshire/La Cienega AUR commences Fall 2014: Design-Build contractor commences 15

30 30 Federal Requirements FTA requires station artwork be integrated into the project (no freestanding work) Federally funded project and therefore must be a national procurement Focus on customer experience/environment (joint development may require plaza modifications)
