Keyboarding 5.3 Enter text at a defined speed with acceptable accuracy. 5.4 Use correct right- and left-hand keyboard positions. 5.5 Demonstrate correct home row position. 5.2 Use basic key functions (space bar, return/enter key, shift key, arrow keys, caps lock, delete/backspace, option/alt, tab key, F keys). Graphics 6.7 Know appropriate type of graphics application to complete a given task (drawing, painting or photo enhancement). 6.8 Plan, organize and save multimedia files with attention to file size and media storage. 6.2 Use basic key functions (space bar, return/enter key, shift key, arrow keys, caps lock, delete/backspace, option/alt, tab key). 6.3 Use editing tools in drawing and painting (select, add color and pattern, resize, crop, erase). 6.4 Capture still images from various digital sources (e.g., scanners, digital cameras, Internet). 6.5 Use principles of design (proportion, balance, contrast, rhythm, emphasis and unity) (see Appendix E, Design Principles and Tips).

3 6.6 Import and export graphics in appropriate file format (e.g., eps, tiff, pict, jpeg, gif). 6.1 Create original artwork using the tools within a grade-appropriate graphics program. Desktop Publishing 7.2 Set the column width. 7.4 Identify serif/sans serif fonts and use them appropriately. 7.9 Balance the size, color and style of the headline relative to body text Balance the artwork in relation to text Apply shading and color where appropriate Set tabs and hanging indents. 7.1 Use age-appropriate software (e.g., Appleworks, PageMaker) for desktop publishing. 7.3 Use appropriate fonts, style and size. 7.5 Set the paragraph indentation. 7.6 Avoid use of all caps in headlines. Use appropriate fonts and styles in headlines (more latitude, fancier but readable). 7.7 Choose justification or ragged right margin. 7.8 Use principles of design (proportion, balance, contrast, rhythm, emphasis, unity see Appendix E, Design Principles and Tips). Spreadsheet 8.3Format cell attributes (e.g., columns, rows, justification, styles, number). 8.4 Use data from a spreadsheet to create charts and graphs. 8.5 Use basic formulas for adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, averaging and determining percents. 8.6 Use fill down for multiple entries of the same value or number. 8.7 Cut, copy and paste formulas, values and functions. 8.2 Enter, edit and delete information in a spreadsheet/graphing program. 8.1 Read and interpret information in a spreadsheet.

4 Database 9.3 Create a database: define fields and enter information. 9.1 Use an age-appropriate database to find information (e.g., reference CD0ROMs such as My First Incredible Amazing Encyclopedia ). 9.2 Enter information in an existing database. Video Production 10.6 Brainstorm and plan video organization and content: treatment (proposal), storyboarding, scripting, production schedule Use production skills (e.g., camera shots/movements, composition, lighting, microphone use and placement, video recording, directing) Use critical viewing skills Operate a video camera: turn it on/record/turn it off Use basic microphone techniques Use in-camera editing techniques. Multimedia 11.7 Save captured media from various audio and video sources Use age-appropriate multimedia authoring hardware and software Integrate media from various digital and analog sources (e.g., video tape, CD-ROMs and the internet) Import different file formats (graphics, sounds, video, etc.) Use principles of design (proportion, balance, contrast, rhythm, emphasis, unity see Appendix E, Design Principles and Tips) Navigate through a multimedia presentation. Electronic Presentation 12.6 Create or edit templates that are consistent in layout.

Graphic Organizers 17.1 Complete a partially filled graphical organizer provided by the teacher Use a variety of graphical organizers provided by the teacher (e.g., templates) Select and apply, from a group of graphical organizers (e.g., Venn diagrams, concept maps, timelines, etc.), the appropriate one to complete a given task Use a graphical organizer to gather information, develop ideas, make decisions, or organize thinking Save the document in an appropriate format to be used in other applications (e.g., gif, html, or rtf). Social and Ethical Practices 18.6 Demonstrate knowledge of current changes and information technology and the effect those changes have on the workplace and society Exhibit legal and ethical behaviors when using information and technology, and discuss consequences of misuse.
