1 Chapter 126 TEKS for Technology Applications What is Chapter 126? Chapter 126 outlines the skill levels that have to be achieved by all Texas students per year through the 8 th grade. Since many schools are in the process of phasing out technology foundation courses, the task of helping our students to become more technosavvy has been left to the regular classroom teacher. In addition, TEA also expects all Texas teachers to have all of the skill levels listed in the Technology Application TEKS up to 8 th grade. The Technology Applications TEKS is divided into four major strands to included foundations, information acquisition, work in solving problems, and communication. Chapter 126 Technology Applications s What is Included Foundations Technology-related terms Technology concepts Data input strategies Make informed decisions about technologies and their applications Information Identification of task requirements Acquisition Plan for using search strategies Use of technology to access, analyze, and evaluate Work in Solving Problems required information Use technology appropriate for the task Synthesize knowledge Create a solution Evaluate the results Communication Communicate information in different formats Communicate information to diverse audiences Use a variety of technologies to communicate Analyze and evaluate the results
