Navigation Bar - Allows you to move around the NovaRIS console. 2. Search Filter - Allows you to find specific procedure or narrow the report list. 3. Report List - Shows information about the reports in the system. 4. Logout Button - Allows you to logout of the NovaRIS. 5. Marquee Alerts - When activated, a list of patients meeting the criteria you set will scroll across the top of the page. 6. Auto Refresh - Allows you to set when you would like the page to auto refresh. 2 applications@novarad.net
3 alerts marquee alerts marquee When the Alerts Marquee is activated, a list of patients meeting the criteria you set when the marquee configuration is edited, will scroll across the top of the page just under the Navigation Bar. To activate the Alerts Marquee and edit its content: 1. Select the Alerts Marquee icon at the top right-hand corner of the page. 2. Select the Status Type of patients you would like to see scrolled across the marquee. 3. Use the radio buttons to select the destination of the marquee item, either Workflow or View Procedures. 4. When the Marquee Enabled check box is selected, the marquee will scroll across the page. 5. Select Update to save your edits or Cancel to return to your previous settting applications@novarad.net 3
4 filtering the reports list filtering the reports list The report filters allow you to narrow the list so that only reports matching specific criteria appear. This is especially helpful if the report list is long. You can use any combination of one or more filters to narrow the list to only the reports you want to see. The available filters depend on the screen you are viewing. The filters for the Reports list are shown below: In the example, use the Report Status filter to show only the reports that have been transcribed. Then, select a radiologist in the Reporting Radiologist filter to show only reports transcribed by that radiologist. To filter the Diagnostic Reports list: 1. Select Diagnostic Reports to open the list of reports. 2. Specify or select the setting for any filter you want to use. Some filters have drop-down menus that show the options you can select. Others require you to type at least the beginning criteria you want to use, such as the first few letters of a patient s last name or the first few numbers of a patient ID. 3. When you ve set your filter criteria, select search to filter the list. 4. Clear the filters or select Reset to return to the full list of reports. 4 applications@novarad.net
5 filtering the reports list MANAGING REPORTS To view a report: 1. Select Diagnostic Reports to open the list of reports. 2. Locate the report you want to view. 3. (Optional) Use filters to locate a specific report. 4. Select the report, then select View Report from the Choose Action Menu applications@novarad.net 5
6 managing reports 5. Select Save and Close to save the report and close it. 6. (Or) Select Next to save the current report and open the next report. To edit a report: 1. Select Diagnostic Reports to open the list of reports. 2. Locate the report you want to view. 3. Select the report, then select View Report from the Choose Action Menu. 4. (Optional ) Add any notes you want to include with the report in the Notes box. 6 applications@novarad.net
7 Managing reports 5. (Conditional) If required, click the Reporting Physician drop-down list to change the reporting physician s name. 6. To edit report text, select inside the Report Text box, then modify the text. 7. When Finished, select Save and Close. To edit a voice recognition file: 1. Select Reports. 2. Select Unsigned Report or Diagnostic Reports. 3. Select a patient record, then select Patient Reports from the Choose Action Menu. 4. Select a report that shows Audio under the report type. 5. Select Correct Audio Report from the Choose Action Menu applications@novarad.net 7

9 Managing reports RIS accommodates three different types of reports - Text, Audio, and Audiotext one of the three screens will appear, depending on which filter is chosen. Text Report Audio Report Audiotext Report applications@novarad.net 9
10 requires correction requires correction To mark a report for correction: 1. Select a report, then click View Report or Correct AudioText Report from the Choose Action Menu. 2. Select the Requires Correction check box. 3. (Conditional) If corrections are required, type the corrected text in the right pane. 4. Select Save Transcription. ADDING AN ADDENDUM To add an addendum to a report: 1. Select an exam, then select View Report from the Choose Action Menu. 2. Select Add New Report. 10 applications@novarad.net
11 distributing a report 3. (Optional) To add information to a standard report, select Choose Standard Report, type a report name, select Search, then select the report. 4. (Optional) Use the Reporting Physician drop-down to make sure the physician s name is correct. 5. Select Save and Close. DISTRIBUTING A REPORT NovaRIS makes it possible to send a report by , fax, or to a printer. To distribute a report: 1. Select a report and select Distribute Report from the Choose Action Menu. 2. Type the name of the recipient or using the search icon, find the name of a referring physician that has been included in the NovaRIS system. 3. Select one of the three radio boxes in the field (and input the address), one of the two radio boxes in the Fax field (and input the fax number) and one of the two radio boxes in the Print field applications@novarad.net 11
12 distributing a report 4. To include key images with the report, select the Include Key Images check box. And, if needed, select the Begin Key Images On a New Page check box. The image layout may also be altered by selecting the Image Layout icon. 5. Select Send. Note: If a report hasn t been signed, but has been transcribed, it will be distrib-uted as a preliminary report, and its preliminary status will be printed at the top of the report. Note: Any changes to the distribution method(s) on the Report Distribution form will not affect the defaults or distribution numbers, s, etc. that are part of the referring record on the RIS. 12 applications@novarad.net
13 Foot pedal foot pedal NovaRIS 7.1 required; Kinesis Savant or X-Keys XKFOOT To program the Kinesis Foot Pedal: 1. Kinesis Foot Pedals. 2. Slightly open the front of the foot pedal. A. Ensure that the foot pedal is plugged into the USB. B. Move switch to the right to program the pedal by slightly opening up the front of the foot pedal; moving the switch to the right with a nonconductive apparatus like a pencil. C. The Green light will begin flashing. D. Close the front; press the pedal you want to program. This will change the speed of the flashing green light from consistent slow flashes to 2 quick flashes. Program the desired pedal with one of the following commands: Pause/Play = Ctrl+Shift+Alt+p Rewind= Ctrl+Shift+Alt+w Fast Forward= Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F Save= Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Enter Sign & Save= Strl+Shift+Alt+S E. Press that pedal after the command has been typed in; this will reset the pedal to slow green flashes again. Program another pedal by pushing a new pedal once it returns to the slow flashes. Watch carefully for the flash signs to ensure the previous pedal has been fully programmed before programming a new pedal. It should begin the quick flashes for the new pedal to be programmed. 3. X-Keys A. Insert programming CD; load software for foot pedal. B. Move switch to the right to program the pedal by slightly opening up the front of the foot pedal; moving the switch to the right with a nonconductive apparatus like a pencil applications@novarad.net 13
14 foot pedal Return to the RIS to access auto-correction and listen to the dictation using the programmed functions for the pedal. 1. Select the checked box to listen to the recording or save the dictation outside of the RIS. Some playback options may not function with certain players. 2. Highlighted text will follow along with the words as the dictation plays. 3. The left screen encompasses dialogue as it was directly dictated. The right screen is the editable screen, including punctuation
15 standard reports standard reports To add a standard report from the Patient Workflow tab: 1. Select Patient Workflow. 2. Select a report, then select Report from the Choose Action Menu. 3. Search for your patient. 4. Select View Report applications@novarad.net 15
16 standard reports 5. Select Standard Report. 6. Enter the Standard Report name. 7. Select Search. 8. Select the Standard Report you would like to import. Note: Standard Reports can only be created by a user with an Administrator Role. If a report already has a voice file attached or text associated with the report the Standard Report function will not be available. To create a Standard Report: 1. Select Reports. 2. Select Standard Reports. 3. Select Add Standard Report on the Standard Report screen. 16 applications@novarad.net
