2 GEM-X55 Notes: Fo a GEM-X55 system compising 96 zones o less, the system may be keypad pogammed. A system lage than 96 zones must be downloaded with NAPCO PCD-Windows Vesion.. This manual contains Easy Pogam Mode instuctions, which allows the the fist 96 zones to be completely pogammed though Menu Diven Easy Pogam Mode. The GEM-X55 equies the use of vesion 7 fimwae GEM-RPCAe 7 keypads: The keypad vesion can be identified by a compatibility sticke on keypad caton as well as a poduct vesion numbe of 07. The poduct vesion numbe appeas as a digit numbe which follows a 5 digit date code stamped on the the inside end flap of the caton (ex: XXXXX07DR). This numbe will also appea on the poduct on a tiangula shaped sticke. The fimwae vesion of the keypad can also be ascetained by enteing the pogam mode it will ead [307 Pogam Mode]. The GEM-X55 equies the use of vesion 7 fimwae GEM-EZM- zone expansion modules. This vesion zone expansion modules can be identified by a compatibility sticke on the keypad caton as well as a poduct vesion numbe of. 4 Page SYSTEM PROGRAMMING OPTIONS WI09B 9/0 INTRODUCTION The GEM-X55 contol panel may be pogammed by vaious means, each of which will be coveed in detail in the sections that follow. Keypad displays shown ae fo a GEM-RPCAe (Vesion 7), Downloading Fom a Compute. This is the pefeed method. The panel may be downloaded fom (o uploaded to) an IBM PC-compatible compute, with a 36 (o highe) micopocesso, eithe locally o emotely. NAPCO's PCD-Windows softwae, Vesion. o late featues context-sensitive help sceens as well as an eo-checking utility that pevents pogamming of incompatible o conflicting data to ensue pope panel opeation. Easy Menu Diven Pogam (Deale Pogam) Mode - Keypad Pogamming. The Easy Menu Diven Pogam Mode allows the pogamming of up to a 96 zone, aea system. A system lage than 96 zones must be pogammed via the PCD-Windows pogam. Keypad pogammable featues include numbe of zones in aea, numbe of zones in aea, fie zone numbes (both -wie and -wie), cental station epoting, enty/exit zone numbes, inteio zone numbes, numbe of keypads in aea, numbe of keypads in aea, cental station telephone numbe, cental station account numbe, auto download id numbe & PC peset callback telephone numbe, cental station eceive fomat, use codes, RF tansmitte points, RF key fob tansmittes,zone desciptions,date and time. Fo new panels, a custom default pogam may be ceated at the keypad. A menu-diven utility pompts the installe to configue the system. Futhe detailed customization is done in the Diect Addess Pogam Mode. Diect Addess (Deale Pogam) Pogam Mode - Keypad Pogamming. The Diect Addess Pogam Mode is an extension of the Deale Pogam Mode wheein data is enteed at the keypad by location. This mode is accessed fom the Easy Menu Diven Pogam Mode by pessing the C button at any time. Pogam Mode - Keypad pogamming. The Pogam Mode is intended fo authoized uses and is limited to keypad pogamming of Codes, Zone Desciptions, Time and Date. DOWNLOADING FROM A COMPUTER The contol-panel pogam may be downloaded fom the compute by eithe of the following methods. Local Downloading (Note: This pocedue should be used afte installation, afte peipheal devices ae connected.) Fo a diect high-speed data tansfe to the contol panel fom a desktop compute, connect the download jack (J) on the panel to the LOCAL jack (J3) on the Napco PCI000/3000 compute inteface using the supplied 6-conducto cable. (Refe to PCI000/3000 Installation Instuctions WI3 fo wiing diagam and pocedues.) Similaly, a high-speed local download may be made in the field using a notebook o laptop compute. Connect J on the contol panel to a Napco PCI-MINI compute inteface using the 6-conducto cable supplied. (Refe to PCI-MINI Installation Instuctions WI767.) Remote Downloading (Also see PCI000/3000 Installation Instuctions WI3.) Function Mode. Duing this pocedue, voice contact will be lost, theefoe both the installe and the compute opeato should be familia with the opeation. When a steady high-pitched tone is head at the site phone, access the ACTIVATE DOWNLOAD Function (see Keypad Pogamming Modes), then pess the J button o the YES (E) button; the site phone will go dead. Hang up the phone and wait fo a call fom the cental station confiming a successful download. Callback Method. An installed, unattended panel may be pogammed o epogammed emotely using the Callback- Method Download featue of PCD-Windows softwae. Remote downloading equies a modem compatible with the PCI000/3000. Upon answeing the call fom the compute, the panel will veify the Download Secuity Code and, if confimed, will establish a connection. If a Callback Numbe is pogammed into the panel, the panel will automatically disconnect and call the compute at this numbe befoe establishing a connection. The Maste Secuity Code is pinted on the panel s micopocesso can. Use this code to ente the Deale Pogam Mode to pogam a custom Deale Secuity Code. Recod the numbe, then emove the code label to pevent unauthoized access to the panel. If you foget you Deale Secuity Code, use the Maste Secuity Code to ente pogamming. Afte enteing codes o data, pess the save Jbutton. Data will not be stoed into memoy unless it is pessed. If the keypad is in the Pogam Mode and no activity is detected fo longe than minutes, a steady tone will sound. Silence the sounde by pessing the G button to continue, o by pessing the C button to exit. A panel that has been COLD STARTED (Addess Location 093) pefoms identically to a new panel. When pogamming moe than aeas, Diect Addess Pogamming Mode must be used to complete the pogam. ARMED STATUS A 3 D E B 56 F C 790G ACCESSING DEALER PROGRAM MODE CUSTOMIZING A DEFAULT PROGRAM Fo any new panel, you can design a default pogam that will best suit you application. Using this pocedue, you will configue the panel fo: This pocedue will automatically set up system keypads, EZMs, wieless tansmittes, etc. Afte you basic default pogam has been loaded, you may alte it as necessay in the Diect Addess Pogam Mode.. Ente up to 95 Codes with Options, Authoity Level and Access Contol Options (if necessay) fo each code. Allows Code to bypass zones. This option, along with Level 3 Authoization, enables selection of OVERVIEW mode at a keypad. This Mode povides a system status display of all aeas at a glance. Pevents Code fom disaming this aea. A Sevice Code has esticted am/disam ights; if an aea is amed with a Sevice Code, a SERVICE ON appeas on the GEM-RPASe keypad (a S on the GEM-RPCAe keypad) and the aea can be disamed with any valid Code, including a Sevice Code. If the aea is amed with OTHER than a Sevice Code, it CANNOT be disamed with a Sevice Code. This is typically used to allow tadesmen access to pemises unde contol of the owne. Access This is nomally used to activate a doo stike while an aea is disamed. A code with the access option will not function as an am/disam code. When the code is enteed, the keypad will display ENTER NOW and the Bown Wie on the keypad will become Active Low (Gound Potential) fo 7 seconds.
