1 SMARTCAP FIRMWARE RELEASE NOTES CURRENT VERSION: SEPTEMBER VERSION HAS BEEN RELEASED. THIS RELEASE INTRODUCES A COUPLE OF NEW FEATURES AND MANY BUG FIXES. THE FOCUS OF THIS RELEASE HAS BEEN ABOUT RELIABILITY OF THE SYSTEM. NOTE: This versin includes changes t all cmpnents f the SmartCap System: display, base unit and prcessr cards. 1 BLUETOOTH PAIRING Vast imprvements have been made t the stability f the Bluetth cnnectin between prcessr card and display. The prcessr card is required t be paired t the display befre it can be used. This is dne by dcking the card in base unit r display. 2 3G SUPPORT This is the first versin that fficially supprts 3G back-t-base cmmunicatin. 3 IMPROVEMENTS AND BUG FIXES 3.1 DISPLAY - System reset n lnger required when cap has been ff fr extended perid f time - Added Mnglian Language - Buffering extended t 25 hurs - Extended headwear ID label (available in ABOUT screen) - Serial cnnectin speed cnfigurable frm advanced menu - Language selectin mved t the advanced menu (requiring a PIN) - Battery level indicatr imprvements - Park brake functinality remved - The system default alarm rules n the display have changed t nly include Level 4 fr 0 minutes - Initialisatin n lnger required when cnnecting t Fatigue Manager withut base unit - Imprved the detectin f faulty dcks and headwear - Dem alarm buttn remved frm UI - Many bug fixes, here are sme f the mre imprtant fixes: Audible alert fr recnfirmed 3+ BUG: Screen desn't always light up when it needs t Display startup failures Alarming issues arund startup All active alarms acknwledged with ne tuch f the display desn t include alarms n Fatigue Manager f the same alarm rule Backlight n lnger lights up randmly after 10 min frm startup

2 Status duratin indicatr stability imprvements Display n lnger shws previus fatigue level n recnnectin f prcessr card Spanish language imprvements 3.2 PROCESSOR CARD - Bluetth pairing - Status n lnger cycles between n level and cap ff when cap is ff fr extended perid f time 3.3 BASE UNIT - Park brake functinality remved 4 KNOWN ISSUES - Rapid dcking and undcking f prcessr cards (mre than nce per secnd) can lead t a system reset - The screen is set t turn ff the backlight when the battery vltage is lw. This nt necessarily aligned with the battery indicatr shwing LOW BATT. - There are situatins (arund switching f ACC) where the display may appear t be hanging n the SmartCap Cnnected screen. Hwever, it will recver within minutes. - USB File Mde: Frequent plugging and unplugging f the USB cable and/r entering the wrng PIN may result in the display nt shwing up as a mass strage device n the cmputer. Dwnlad speed is slw - Alarming: Alarm rule criteria are assessed every time the display receives a cnfirmed status. Fatigue levels are calculated (rughly) every 2 minutes. This is nt the case fr nn-fatigue statuses such as cap ff and n cap cnnected. Hence a cap ff alarm fr 3 min will nt trigger until a new status has been cnfirmed, which may nt be until 5 minutes after. Alarm rule IDs are created whenever a new alarm rule is created in Fatigue Manager. Alarm rule IDs greater than 64 are nt supprted by the display. - Missing Card Detectin nt cnfigurable frm Fatigue Manager. - Display versins 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 are unable t remve buffer files created with versin 1.2.

The firmware cntained in these devices prvides the cntrl prgram fr the device.

3 WHAT IS FIRMWARE? SmartCap System Firmware is the prgram that is laded and runs n the SmartCap devices: SmartCap Display, Base Unit and Prcessr Card. The firmware cntained in these devices prvides the cntrl prgram fr the device. Fatigue prcessing card that inserts under the brim f the cap, and sends infrmatin t the in-cab display. Base unit, used fr charging and testing the prcessing cards, and prviding cmmunicatins thrugh yur wireless netwrk. Tuch screen display, used t receive fatigue infrmatin frm the SmartCap, and prvide peratr feedback. SUPERSEDED RELEASES DECEMBER RELEASED VERSION HAS BEEN RELEASED. THIS RELEASE ADDRESSES A REPORTED ISSUE WITH THE PREVIOUS V2.0.3 RELEASES. THIS VERSION INCLUDES CHANGES TO DEVICE FIRMWARE FOR THE SMARTCAP DISPLAY AND PROCESSOR CARD. The system firmware resides n the SmartCap Display. OCTOBER RELEASED VERSION 2.0 HAS BEEN RELEASED. THIS IS THE FIRST FIRMWARE RELEASE THAT IS RELEASED AS A BUNDLE OF SYSTEM FIRMWARE. SYSTEM FIRMWARE INCLUDES SMARTCAP DISPLAY, BASE UNIT AND PROCESSOR CARD. THE BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT IN THIS RELEASE IS THE CAPABILITY TO AUTO-UPGRADE FIRMWARE, EITHER FROM FATIGUE MANAGER OR FROM THE SMARTCAP DISPLAY. THE SYSTEM FIRMWARE RESIDES ON THE SMARTCAP DISPLAY. THE BASE UNIT AND PROCESSOR CARD AUTOMATICALLY UPGRADE TO THE LATEST SYSTEM WHEN CONNECTED TO THE DISPLAY. 1 COMPATIBILITY The new system firmware uses a new cmmunicatins prtcl t allw fr autmatic firmware upgrades and a number f ther enhancements. That means Fatigue Manager can be upgraded t the latest versin, withut the need t upgrade the firmware n all SmartCap devices at arund the same time. 2 MAJOR FEATURES 2.1 FIRMWARE UPGRADES Versin 3.0 f Fatigue Manager intrduces ver-the-air (OTA) firmware upgrades. That means it is pssible t upgrade the firmware n all SmartCap devices in the trucks (base unit, display and prcessr cards) remtely frm the Fatigue Manager server. Offline systems: display is capable f upgrading cards and/r base units autmatically. Requirement is t have 2.0 installed n each 2.2 PROCESSOR CARD DISCONNECT When unplugging the prcessr card frm the SmartCap, the Bluetth cnnectin is terminated within 15 secnds. Because the card n lnger turns ff immediately after unplugging, the lights may nt flash upn re-insertin within 15 secnds f undcking. 3 PROCESSOR CARD SCSP Aut-upgradeable by dcking in SmartCap Display r Base Unit

The btlader will default t attempting t update via USB if a USB cable is plugged in, therwise will attempt t update frm internal memry strage. - Update display t allw updating f the firmware f the base unit. - Updated t perfrm ver the air dwnlads frm the Fatigue Manager server - Added system versin and cmmunicatins status (if Fatigue Manager is present) t ABOUT page. - Updated display t shw errr message if prcessr card with wrng firmware versin cnnects. - Update f display t receive prcessr card updates frm dcked prcessr, base units, Bluetth'd SP's, and t send SP updates t the Cmms Server (SCRD-273). - Added timezne and DST t time infrmatin cmmunicated between Fatigue Manager, Display and Prcessr Card. - Updated display t send park brake status, user interactin rate and USB cnnectin status t the fatigue manager. 6 BUG FIXES DISPLAY - Fixed issue where alarm rules with an id greater than 10 wuld nt be listed n the alarm rules screen. - Fixed bug in data lgger where write errrs wuld nt be detected. - Display n lnger sends a headwear fr fatigue levels nt assciated with a cap (n cap, plant ff, etc.) - Fixed issue where the display wuld remain frzen n the Calculating Fatigue screen 7 KNOWN ISSUES - Prcessr card desn t restart within up t 6 secnds after unplugging frm cap. If restart attempted within 6 secnds, the card will likely cnnect t the display withut shwing the standard flashes f the range LED.
