Install Patches after cmpleting Abve Steps Knwn Issues and Limitatin When setting default launcher, user has t wait 10 secnds prir t rebting the device Installatin Instructins Assumptins: 1. ADB installed n PC (the adb drivers and such) 2. TC51HC has Develper ptins enabled 3. USB debugging ON Prcedure: Nte: Fr Enabling ADB please see user guide. 1. Plug the TC51HC int the USB & Charging Cable and then the Cable t the PC. If yu have a Cradle with USB cnnectivity, cnnect it nw. 2. Yu may need t pull dwn the tp menu and if yu see USB fr charging, tuch it and then change it t File transfers.

Open Cmmand Prmpt, run adb devices and check t see if yu are able t see the device s serial number If yes, prceed if nt yu will need t get the PC set up with the prper drivers r install an External SD Card. Nte: Yu may als get a pp up n yur PC (Win 7) that yu will be cnnected as a Prtable Media Player this can be ignred. Dwnlad Image a. Full Package Update File and any applicable patches listed abve in cntent sectin b. Reset files (Optinal) 4. Entering int Recvery Mde a. Chice 1: In Cmmand Prmpt, type adb rebt recvery and click enter. b. Chice 2: Reset and hld PTT key When Zebra Technlgies lg appears n the screen Release the PTT Key 5. Yur TC51HC will rebt and put yu n the Andrid Recvery screen. 6. if applying update via sidelad Methd a. Use the Vlume + and t highlight, Apply update frm ADB and press the Pwer Key t select it 7. With yur Cmmand Prmpt pen, type adb sidelad and add a space and then drag and drp the Full Package date zip file n t it and click enter. a. Yur PC screen will shw files being installed and a little blue hrizntal prgress bar n yur device will shw status and after abut 6 minutes (culd be 10+ minutes if installing GMS) it shuld be dne and yu shuld be back at the Andrid Recvery screen. b. Repeat abve steps fr all mandatry packages (nn-hlos- PATCH zip and Patch GMS.zip). 8. Rebt system nw is highlighted. Press the Pwer Key t Rebt. 9. Device rebts and yu see Zebra n tp and POWERED BY andrid at the bttm and after abut 1 minute will transitin t the TC51HC1 Tuch Cmputer splash screen with 5 dancing white dts at bttm it will stay

5 at this screen fr a little ver anther minute (culd be anther 7+ minutes if installing GMS) and then yu are at the Factry Welcme screen. 10. If yu installed a GMS BSP, yu will need t cmplete the prcess by setting up Wi-Fi and accunts and such. If n AOSP (nn-gms), there is n prcess t fllw. a. G t Settings and scrll dwn t Abut phne and lk at the Build number. It shuld start with MG-PATCH006. Nw yu are n the crrect BSP and System Patch006. b. T Validate if nn-hlos-patch is installed crrectly, enable ADB as explained abve and run cmmands n adb shell as shwn in picture. c. Setting the Date and Time. If yu assciate t a WLAN AP, d s nw, as it shuld autmatically set the time and date the nly thing left is t set the time zne. G t Settings and scrll t and select Date & time. Scrll dwn t and select Select time zne, and scrll dwn t and select the apprpriate time zne and yu are dne. 11. Nw yu are all set t use yur TC51HC. Using External SD card 1. Plug the TC51HC int the USB & Charging Cable and then the Cable t the PC. If yu have a Cradle with USB cnnectivity, cnnect it nw. 2. KeyMapping Manager - Added key mapping supprt fr NAV PAD Buttn. 3. Enhanced Barcde Manager APIs with the fllwing features: Added supprt fr new pluggable scanner RS5000 t be used with WT6000 device. The fllwing enhanced feature available in this release is fr beta use nly. It must nt be used in prductin envirnment. A future versin f EMDK will frmally supprt this feature. i. Added "PLUGGABLE_IMAGER_RS5000" under BarcdeManager.DeviceIdentifier fr selecting this scanner. Added new reader parameters in each ImagerSpecific, CameraSpecific and LaserSpecific classes under ScannerCnfig.ReaderParams.ReaderSpecific: i. aimtimer - Sets the duratin fr timed aim types such as timed hld and timed release. ii. samesymbltimeut - This setting is used t prevent the scanner driver frm decding the same symbl within this time interval during cntinuus scan. iii. differentsymbltimeut - This setting is used t prevent the scanner frm decding anther symbl within this time interval during cntinuus scan.

9 iv. picklistex - Allws the imager r camera t decde nly the barcde that is directly under the crss-hair (+)/ center f the reticle part f the pattern. This replaces the Picklist field under the imager specific class. This feature als allws selecting the hardware r sftware picklist. v. aimtype - Allws selecting the aim type such as cntinuus, press & release, timed hld and timed release. The CntinuusRead class which can be used t enable the cntinuus scanning has been deprecated. It is recmmended t use the aimtype, samesymbltimeut, differentsymbltimeut f camera, imager and laser specific reader parameters. 4. Enhanced Prfile Manager fr the fllwing features: DataCapture feature: i. Supprt fr selecting RS5000 as the scanning device. This enhanced feature available in this release is fr beta use nly. It must nt be used in prductin envirnment. A future versin f EMDK will frmally supprt this feature. ii. Supprt fr the new "Data Capture Plus (DCP)" feature. This feature Data Capture Plus (frmerly knwn as the "Data Capture Panel") enables areas f the device screen t be designated as scan triggers. By tapping n a designated screen area, DataWedge will respnd as it wuld t a scanner buttn-press r ther hardware trigger. iii. Supprt fr the new "Keep enabled n suspend" feature. Enabling this feature will keep the Bluetth scanner enabled when the device is in suspend mde. Pressing the Bluetth scan trigger will wake up the device fr scanning. Added new parameter Receiver fregrund flag in Intent Output fr delivering the captured data via Bradcast Intent t bradcast recipient permissin t run at the fregrund pririty with a shrter timeut interval. Added the fllwing new parameters in Keystrke Output feature: i. Multi byte character delay - Sets an inter character delay in millisecnds fr multi byte characters. This setting was required t be set in-rder t vercme data dispatching errrs when dispatching multi byte characters t brwser.

Enhanced Serial Cmm APIs with the fllwing features: Added getcnfig() and setcnfig() fr accessing the current cnfiguratin settings such as baudrate, parity, databit and stpbit. Added getsignalstate() t query the signal status such as DTR, DCD, DSR, RI, RTS and CTS. Added new methd setsignalstate() t set the signal status such as RTS and DTR.
