General Release Infrmatin The ATTO Cnfiguratin Tl helps yu custmize the settings f yur ExpressSAS, Celerity and ExpressPCI hst adapters t maximize the perfrmance f yur strage cnnectin. While the factry settings n yur hst adapter shuld prvide excellent perfrmance fr a wide range f applicatins, sme specialized applicatins may benefit frm mdificatin f the adapter settings t tune the adapter fr a specific perfrmance range. These prduct release ntes define the new features, changes, knwn issues and release details that apply t the ATTO Cnfiguratin Tl v3.25 that was released n 6/05/09. This infrmatin pertains t the Micrsft Windws OS including Windws 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003, and Server 2008 fr x86 and x64 platfrms. 2. This includes viewing the status f the enclsure pwer supply, temperature and fan speed. [ExpressSAS R-Series] Added enhanced supprt fr enclsure devices Mnitring and ntificatin f enclsure prperties (i.e. pwer, fan speed, etc.) Users are able t actively mnitr the characteristics f any SES supprted enclsure device. In additin, thrugh the Cnfiguratin Tl, the user can cnfigure the ExpressSAS RAID t prvide ntificatins when an event such as a failure ccurs. Supprt fr acquiring and displaying enclsure serial number If the enclsure supprts this parameter, the ExpressSAS RAID adapter can display any enclsure serial number attached t the adapter. Ability t light faulted drive(s) in an enclsure with an embedded expander T simplify usability, users can identify and flash the LED f a faulted drive t help in diagnsing and replacing failed drives. Identify device in an enclsure with an embedded expander frm Cnfiguratin Tl T simplify usability, frm the Cnfiguratin Tl, users are able t identify a selected device by flashing the device LED. Identify all drives in a single RAID grup within an enclsure with an embedded expander T simplify usability, frm the Cnfiguratin Tl, users are able t identify all members f a selected RAID grup by flashing the LEDs f the respective media. Identify all drives within an enclsure with an embedded expander T simplify usability, frm the Cnfiguratin Tl, users are able t identify all devices within a selected enclsure by flashing the LEDs f the respective media. [ExpressSAS R-Series] Imprved Media Errr Handling T accunt fr variances in physical media, the ExpressSAS RAID prducts have implemented enhanced errr handling methdlgies that will reallcate unusable sectrs during I/O withut impacting perfrmance. This minimizes ptential wrkflw interruptins caused by imperfect media. In additin, during RAID grup initializatin, users will have a chice between an Advanced Initializatin methd which will thrughly scan and clean the selected media minimizing the RAID grup s susceptibility t errrs. This is usually dne the first time a RAID grup is created and requires that n I/O be allwed during the prcess. Anther initializatin methd added, Express Initializatin, allws users t perfrm I/O during initializatin and is generally used when the media has previusly been thrugh a full initializatin cycle. [ExpressSAS R-Series] Imprved perfrmance thrugh enhanced rebuild priritizatin functinality. NOTE: New features specific t the ExpressSAS R-Series are nly supprted with v2.20 driver set and firmware updates. Features will be unsupprted withut the prper versins f drivers and firmware and thus be grayed ut in the Cnfiguratin Tl v3.18. Incident Reslutins/Bug Fixes/Changes Address issues with device identificatin fr devices in an enclsure. Imprved SES event reprting. 4 Versin 3.17 (Released 1/24/2008) The fllwing apply t changes made frm v3.16 t v3.17. These changes were made specifically fr the ExpressSAS RAID Adapter. They d nt affect Celerity Fibre Channel adapters, ExpressPCI SCSI adapters r ExpressSAS hst adapters. Added supprt fr tape drives and libraries. Supprt added t allw users t set the adapter t autmatically begin a rebuild f a RAID grup when a failed drive is replaced with a new, clean drive. Supprt added t set the interval t spin drives up individually, lwering the pwer cnsumptin n the enclsure pwer supply. Added supprt t mnitr the health f the strage enclsure and its respective devices using SES. Added ability t display RAID grup prperties within the Cnfiguratin Tl. Added the ability t change the SpeedRead setting after the creatin f a RAID grup. Added supprt fr N-way mirrring. Nte that since anything ther than ne mirrr is nt supprted in RAID 10, migratin is disabled fr RAID1 with mre than ne mirrr and RAID 0 with mre than ne stripe. Imprved messaging during the cnfiguratin f ht spares. Added Spin-Up Delay ptin cnfigurability. The media scan with parity fix peratin is nt expsed in the GUI, but it is available frm the CLI. SCSI health is nly available thrugh CLI. Faulted grup peratins mistakenly reprt rgntifyopdne SNMP trap instead f rgntifyopfaulted SNMP trap.
