5 Befre Yu Begin Prerequisites This dcument prvides all f the infrmatin related t installing a SAS 9.4 DVD Sftware basic rder n z/os systems fr which yu have purchased licenses. Please review this dcument in its entirety. Yu MUST cmplete each f the required items belw befre beginning yur SAS installatin. Review Installatin Alert Ntes On the web page, click Search Installatin Ntes. Select the Results Filter tab, and then select alert as the Pririty, 9.4 as the SAS Release and z/os as the Operating System. Then press Enter. Review the Installatin Alert Ntes that are listed t see if they apply t this installatin rder. Have Yur Sftware Order (SOE) Available T install SAS 9.4 n z/os, start with the Sftware Order (SOE) yu received frm SAS Institute. This cntains details such as the rder number, a key, and the type f installatin yu have: Basic r Planning. Basic rders are generally straightfrward single-machine deplyments. Planning rders are mre cmplex, multi-machine deplyments. This dcument is fr a basic rder. Page 1

6 Installatin Instructins fr SAS 9.4 Installatin Kit fr Basic DVD Installatins n z/os Use Yur Current SAS Installatin Data Files (SID files) The SAS Sftware Dept includes ne r mre SAS installatin data (SID) file r files. A SID file is valid fr a limited time and cnsists f custmized installatin infrmatin and prduct authrizatin infrmatin. The SAS Deplyment Wizard uses the installatin infrmatin in a SID file t install yur licensed sftware and apply custmized prduct authrizatin infrmatin t yur system. SID files fllw a naming cnventin in which a file called sas94_xxxxxx_yyyyyyyy_zzz.txt wuld mean xxxxxx is yur rder number, yyyyyyyy is yur setnumid (a unique identifier used by SAS Technical Supprt), and zzz is the perating system fr which the rder is licensed. The SID files fr yur sftware rder will be lcated in the sid_files directry at the rt f yur SAS Sftware Dept. If yur rder is mre than 90 days ld, the SID file shipped with the rder may have expired. Check yur SOE fr the expiratin date f the SID file in yur rder. If it has expired, cntact yur SAS site representative wh may have received a Renewal Sftware Order that will cntain a mre recent SID file. Once yu have created yur SAS Sftware Dept, put the updated SID file in the sid_files directry in yur SAS Sftware Dept. If the site representative des nt have an updated SID file, please have the site representative cntact SAS Custmer Service at (press ptin 3). Review and Understand Terminlgy SASHOME Lcatin SASHOME is the UNIX directry lcatin where the UNIX file system cmpnents f yur SAS sftware are installed n yur machine. SASHOME is specified when yu install sftware thrugh the SAS Deplyment Wizard fr the first time, and that lcatin becmes the default installatin lcatin fr any ther SAS sftware yu install n the same machine. Yu will need abut 3 GB f UNIX file system space fr yur SASHOME directry. Many sites prefer t have SASHOME in a separate UNIX file system than their SAS Sftware Dept. This allws yu t easily archive the SAS Sftware Dept and reuse that disk space. The directry path fr yur SASHOME lcatin cannt be a directry within yur SAS sftware dept. Nte: The length f the SASHOME path is limited t 54 characters. Nte: The SASHOME directry is an integral part f the SAS 9.4 installatin and MUST be kept munted n yur z/os system as part f the finished SAS installatin fr sme functinality within SAS t wrk crrectly. SAS Deplyment Wizard The SAS Deplyment Wizard is the cmmn interface used t install and deply all SAS 9.4 sftware. Using the SAS Deplyment Wizard, yu interact with the SAS Sftware Dept, the repsitry f files and data necessary t install yur SAS 9.4 sftware. Yu will invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard n each system that is part f yur SAS sftware deplyment. The SAS Deplyment Wizard is run by issuing setup.rexx which prvides a windwing interface that requires an X11 server. Nte: If yu d nt have access t an X11 server, yu may be able t use the SAS Deplyment Wizard in cnsle mde, allwing yu t use a headless system t cnfigure yur server. SAS Sftware Dept 2

The SAS Sftware Dept is rganized in a specific frmat that is meaningful t the SAS Deplyment Wizard, which is the tl that is used t install and initially cnfigure SAS. The SAS Sftware Dept cntains the SAS Deplyment Wizard executable, ne r mre deplyment plans, a SID file, rder data, and prduct data. Please see yur Sftware Order fr the space required fr the SAS Sftware Dept fr yur rder. Determine Target Lcatin fr Initial Creatin f Yur SAS Sftware Dept Yu can lad yur SAS Sftware Dept frm the DVD t either UNIX r Windws. Yu must be able t: Munt yur UNIX r Windws directry n yur z/os system, using NFS munt, r Use the SAS Sftware Dept Cpy Utility r a third party utility t transfer the cmplete dept directry tree t yur z/os system. Define Sufficient UNIX File System Space Yur SAS installatin requires the fllwing space defined in UNIX file system directries: SAS Sftware Dept The SAS Sftware Dept is a cllectin f SAS installatin files that represents ne r mre rders. The SAS Sftware Dept is rganized in a specific frmat that is meaningful t the SAS Deplyment Wizard, which is the tl that is used t install and initially cnfigure SAS. The SAS Sftware Dept cntains the SAS Deplyment Wizard executable, ne r mre deplyment plans, a SID file, rder data, and prduct data. Please see yur Sftware Order fr the space required fr the SAS Sftware Dept fr yur rder. This directry must be available t z/os. It can be: A UNIX File System directry n the z/os machine. A UNIX File System r Windws remte directry that is accessible t the z/os machine via an NFS munt. Yu d nt need the SAS Sftware Dept after yu have cmpleted installing and cnfiguring yur SAS sftware. Yu can archive yur SAS Sftware Dept t tape using the prcess dcumented in SAS Nte SN ( SASHOME directry The SASHOME directry is an integral part f the SAS 9.4 installatin. Yu may want t have yur SAS Sftware Dept and SASHOME directry in separate UNIX file system spaces s that yu can easily recver the space frm yur SAS Sftware Dept after installatin. Fr a SAS fundatin nly installatin, 3 GB shuld be allwed fr the SASHme directry. Ensure that the User ID fr the Installatin Meets Requirements The user ID used fr installing SAS 9.4 must meet specific requirements: Must have a hme directry that is nt rt. Must have a default prgram shell defined. Must nt be a superuser. Must nt share a UID with ther user IDs. The user IDs that will be running the SAS Deplyment Wizard t install SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os require a larger regin setting: If running under OMVS, a TSO regin size and ASSIZEMAX setting f at least 1 GB. 3

8 Installatin Instructins fr SAS 9.4 Installatin Kit fr Basic DVD Installatins n z/os If running UNIX-style cmmands using rlgin, putty, r telnet, an ASSIZEMAX setting f at least 1 GB. Chse Whether t Use an X11 Server The SAS Deplyment Wizard has a graphical user interface which requires the use f an X11 server, if available. At many sites, this sftware is already available and running n a UNIX and/r Windws system. X11 sftware is available frm cmmercial and shareware sites. If yu d nt have access t an X11 server, yu may be able t use the SAS Deplyment Wizard in cnsle mde, allwing yu t use a headless system t cnfigure yur server. If yu use cnsle mde, each dialg used in the deplyment f yur SAS sftware is represented in text. Cnsle mde cannt be used n yur middle tier. Fr mre infrmatin abut X11 server minimum versin requirements, see the web page entitled SAS 9.4 Supprt fr Additinal Sftware Prducts at Verify the Installed Versin f Java Having an installed Java level that is supprted by SAS is required fr a basic installatin. See the Cnfiguratin Guide fr SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os at fr infrmatin abut which functins f SAS require Java. Yu can check SAS s third party supprt web page fr infrmatin abut the latest supprted versins f Java at Or refer t the Java Requirements in the System Requirements fr SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os at F/default/sreq.pdf. Review SAS/IntrNet Installatin Optins (Optinal Step) If yur rder includes SAS/IntrNet, review the sectin n SAS/IntrNet in the Cnfiguratin Guide fr SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os s that yu are prepared t enter the apprpriate values fr yur web server directry paths and URL values. Select Which SAS/GRAPH Map Data Sets t Install (Optinal Step) Starting in the third maintenance release f SAS 9.4, if yur site is licensed fr SAS/GRAPH, yu have the ptin t select which SAS/GRAPH Map prducts t install. SAS has split ut the Map data sets that were included in SAS/GRAPH in rder t help users save space by chsing which Map data sets they want t install. These ptins allw yu t select which f the SAS/GRAPH Maps prducts yu wish t install. Fr infrmatin abut Maps data set space, refer t the System Requirements fr SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os at the SAS 9.4 Install Center Dcumentatin web site: ( and select Dcumentatin fr SAS 9.4 Installatin n z/os. If yur site is licensed fr SAS/GRAPH, when yu run the SAS Deplyment Wizard, the SAS/GRAPH Maps Selectin dialg bx will appear: 4

GfK GeMarketing WORLD Maps fr SAS/GRAPH cntains the new Map data sets which replace SAS/GRAPH Obslete Maps Data. In rder t use PROC GMAP, yu must install either GfK GeMarketing WORLD Maps fr SAS/GRAPH r SAS/GRAPH Obslete Maps Data, r bth GfK GeMarketing CITIES Maps fr SAS/GRAPH cntains the Map data sets that are used by PROC GEOCODE. If these maps are nt installed, then sme f PROC GEOCODE will wrk (such as ZIP cde supprt) but cities supprt will nt wrk SAS/GRAPH Obslete Maps Data Nte: If yu install all 3 SAS/GRAPH Map data sets, additinal space is used. Fr mre infrmatin n the required space fr SAS/GRAPH Map data sets, refer t the System Requirements fr SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os at the SAS 9.4 Install Center Dcumentatin web site: ( and select Dcumentatin fr SAS 9.4 Installatin n z/os. Nte: T remve r re-install SAS/GRAPH Maps, see the SAS Nte SN available at 5

Creating the SAS Sftware Dept Step 2. Installing and Maintaining Yur Sftware Step 3. Validate Installatin and Pst-Cnfiguratin Step 4. Archiving Yur SAS Sftware Dept Fllw these steps in rder t install yur SAS sftware. Step 1. Creating the SAS Sftware Dept Fllw these steps t create yur SAS Sftware Dept: 1. Cnfirm that yu have received the sftware that yu expected. In yur installatin kit, find the SAS Order Infrmatin dcument, which lists the sftware that yu rdered. Verify that the SAS prducts and servers listed are crrect, and that they match what yu expected t receive. If they are nt, cntact SAS Custmer Service at The SAS Sftware Dept is a netwrk-accessible repsitry f yur SAS sftware. After yu have created yur SAS Sftware Dept, the SAS Order Infrmatin dcument will als be available frm yur SAS Sftware Dept at <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin>/install_dc/<rder number>/si.html. After yu have created yur SAS Sftware Dept, yu may view an expanded list f the sftware that makes up yur rder. Cnsult the rdersummary.html, lcated in yur SAS Sftware Dept at <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin>/install_dc/<rder number>/rdersummary.html. 2. Insert yur media int a DVD drive n either a Windws r UNIX system t create r add t yur SAS Sftware Dept. If yu already have a SAS Sftware Dept frm a 9.4 installatin, yu shuld use the same lcatin fr creating this SAS Sftware Dept. Only new prducts, releases, and maintenance will need t be added t the SAS Sftware Dept, saving disk space. If yu are creating a new SAS Sftware Dept, chse a lcatin that either is, r can be, NFS-munted n z/os, yu can either use the SAS Sftware Dept Cpy Utility r cnfirm that yu have a third-party FTP utility that can mve the entire directry tree t the z/os file system. The directry name must nt cntain blanks. Fr Windws users: Fr UNIX users: The media shuld autplay. If it des nt, duble-click setup.exe at the rt f yur DVD t start the SAS Deplyment Wizard. Using the SAS Deplyment Wizard, chse Create r Add t a SAS Sftware Dept t create r add t yur SAS Sftware Dept. When yu enter the directry path name fr the SAS Sftware Dept, the name shuld nt cntain blanks. 6

11 Installatin Instructins fr SAS 9.4 Installatin Kit fr Basic DVD Installatins n z/os UNIX users shuld munt their DVD with the apprpriate munt cmmand and execute setup.sh at the rt f the DVD. Nte: If yu launch the SAS Deplyment Wizard frm an rder that spans media, d nt use a shell in the remvable media s file system when yu launch setup.sh. In additin, the SAS Deplyment Wizard shuld nt be invked via the File Manager. Either f these methds fr launching the SAS Deplyment Wizard will create a Device busy cnditin, which prevents disk swapping later in the deplyment prcess. Using the SAS Deplyment Wizard, chse Create r Add t a SAS Sftware Dept t create r add t yur SAS Sftware Dept. When yu enter the directry path name fr the SAS Sftware Dept, the name shuld nt cntain blanks. Make Yur SAS Sftware Dept Accessible t z/os Yu must make the SAS Sftware Dept accessible t z/os by using ne f the fllwing methds: NFS munt the directry n z/os, r Use the SAS Sftware Dept Cpy Utility (which is prvided in yur SAS Sftware Dept. Yu can find instructins fr this utility in the SAS Deplyment Wizard and SAS Deplyment Manager 9.4: User s Guide at r Transfer the SAS Sftware Dept t z/os using a third-party utility such as Filezilla, WS-FTP, Blue Zne, etc., that can mve a cmplete directry tree. 1. FTP the entire directry tree, ensuring that all files are transferred in binary t a z/os UNIX File System directry, and the case f all file names is preserved. 2. Be sure t set the execute bits after mving frm Windws. Execute the fllwing cmmand: chmd -R a+r+x <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin> Alternatively, if the SAS Sftware Dept is stred n UNIX, fllw these steps: 1. Create a tar file f yur existing SAS Sftware Dept n yur UNIX machine. Execute the fllwing cmmand: tar -cvf <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin> <tar file name> 2. FTP the tar file created in the previus step t z/os in binary frmat. 3. Extract the SAS Sftware Dept n z/os in the zfs directry where yu want the SAS Sftware Dept created. Execute the fllwing cmmand frm OMVS r rlgin: tar -xvf <tar file name> Nte: The "v" ptin used in the tar cmmands is fr verbse. Infrmatin is displayed back t the terminal abut each file as it is prcessed. It is nt required. Step 2. Installing and Maintaining Yur Sftware The remainder f this dcument describes the installatin and maintenance (where applicable) prcess in detail. At this pint yu shuld have reviewed and cmpleted all f the pre-requisites fr this installatin previusly dcumented. 7

12 Installatin Instructins fr SAS 9.4 Installatin Kit fr Basic DVD Installatins n z/os Installatin Actin Actin A, Actin B, r Actin C The installatin prcess will prmpt yu fr an installatin actin t chse. Determine which ne f these installatin actins belw apply t this installatin. Actin A is fr a new installatin if yu d nt currently have SAS 9.4 installed n yur system at all. When yu perfrm a new installatin (Actin A), the SAS Deplyment Wizard will als install any ht fixes included in the rder. Orders that are dwnladed include ht fixes selected by SAS as being apprpriate fr the SAS Deplyment Wizard t install during a deplyment. Nte: Orders received n DVDs d nt initially include ht fixes. Actin B installs maintenance r new prducts directly int yur existing prductin SAS 9.4 libraries and directries. If yu are bth applying maintenance and installing new prducts, yu must invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard twice. Actin C is used when adding maintenance r new sftware prducts t an existing installatin. This actin installs the updates in staged libraries allwing yu t test befre cpying the updates t prductin. If yu are bth applying maintenance and installing new prducts, yu must invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard twice. Imprtant Ntes D nt lg in t z/os as a superuser (smetimes called rt r UID(0) ). The user ID that will be running the SAS Deplyment Wizard t install SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os must have the same requirements as nted in Ensure that the User ID fr the Installatin Meets Requirements n page 3. If yu are applying maintenance r adding sftware t an existing installatin, yu must stp all SAS servers and prcesses befre updating yur installatin. If yu select Actin B r Actin C, yu must use the same high-level qualifier that yu specified with the riginal installatin. Installatin Steps 1. By default, the SAS Deplyment Wizard will run using a text-based interface and will create the installatin batch jbs fr yu but will nt execute them. Befre yu start the SAS Deplyment Wizard, yu must decide whether yu will use a graphical user interface r a text-based interface, and whether the SAS Deplyment Wizard will run the installatin batch jbs fr yu. a. Using the graphical interface: If yu want t use a graphical user interface in the SAS Deplyment Wizard, yu must use an X11 server. If yu will be using an X11 server, set the DISPLAY envirnment variable t pint t yur X11 server. Issue the fllwing case-sensitive cmmand frm the z/os UNIX shell n yur z/os system befre starting the SAS Deplyment Wizard: exprt DISPLAY=<yur X11 server name>:0.0 /<SAS Sftware Dept>/setup.rexx x11 Nte: If yu d nt issue this cmmand, setup.rexx will prmpt yu fr the server name. Make sure that the X11 server is started n yur wrkstatin befre starting the install. 8

Using the text-based interface: If yu chse nt t use the x11 interface, the dialg screens that wuld have been displayed are represented in text. When yu run the SAS Deplyment Wizard in the default text-based r cnsle mde t perfrm a deplyment withut a graphical display, ensure that the DISPLAY envirnment variable is unset, as ppsed t it being set t a blank value (that is, DISPLAY= ). Fr example : unset DISPLAY /<SAS Sftware Dept>/setup.rexx Nte: During executin in text r cnsle mde, if yu are instructed t enter a sequence that includes angle brackets, such as Enter <q> t quit, yu must include thse symbls. c. Batch jbs can be submitted manually r by the SAS Deplyment Wizard: By default, the SAS Deplyment Wizard will create the installatin batch jbs fr yu but will nt submit them. By default, SAS install jbs are chained. In rder t frce each jb t be submitted manually, use the njbchain ptin. The njbchain ptin is ignred if jbsubmit is specified. If yu use the jbsubmit ptin, the SAS Deplyment Wizard will: i. Assign the same jb name xxxxxxa t each jb it autmatically submits, where: xxxxxxx is assigned the installer user ID A suffix assigned t the installer user. ii. Use the FTP JES interface t track the prgress f each jb, and in particular determine when they have cmpleted. If any f the fllwing cnditins are true, yu will nt be able t use the jbsubmit ptin, and yu must submit the installatin batch jbs manually: Yur site uses JES3 (nt JES2), r Yur FTP server is cnfigured fr JESINTERFACELEVEL=2, r The SAS installer ID is nt authrized t use FTP, r Yu need t make site-specific changes t the JCL r wish t review the JCL befre submissin, r The FTP JES interface s requirement that the jb name be the user ID perfrming the install suffixed with a single letter r digit is incmpatible with yur site s jb name requirements. If yu installed withut specifying -jbsubmit, after the SAS Deplyment Wizard has cmpleted with all green check marks r S indicating Cmpleted Successfully, run the series f jbs indicated in the JOBINDEX member f the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL data set. The number f batch jbs will vary based n the cntent f yur rder. The member JOBINDEX in the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL data set will cntain the list f jbs that must be executed. a. Yu may want t edit each f the jbs listed in the JOBINDEX member f the INSTALL.CNTL data set t prvide any required site-specific accunting infrmatin, etc. Yu may als want t edit the user-defined fields in the JCL statements (such as UNIT values, SMS classes, etc.), t cnfrm t standards used at yur site. b. Submit the first jb. Each jb will submit the subsequent jb as its final step. If yu want t submit each jb individually, yu will need t edit the last step that submits the next jb thrugh the internal reader. Just delete the IEBGENER step at the end. Nte: After submitting an install jb, the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL library cannt be pen in edit mde. The jb will wait until it can get exclusive access (DISP=OLD) t the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL library. c. A separate jb named INSTHELP is written t <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL and is an ptinal jb t run. It represents the nline help dcumentatin and depending n yur system and ther jbs running, culd take an hur r mre t cmplete. If yu chse t run this jb, we recmmend that it be run after the initial installatin has cmpleted. 10

If yur rder cntained new SAS prducts, yu will need t invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard again t install thse prducts, fllwing the same instructins abve starting with Step 3 under Installatin Steps. Step 3. Validate Installatin and Pst-Cnfiguratin Ntes: 1. After all installatin jbs have finished, submit the VALID jb in the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL data set and ensure that all steps cmplete with a return cde f Cnsult the cnfiguratin instructins available fr yur perating system fr prductspecific pst-installatin steps. The cnfiguratin instructins are available frm Install Center. Starting with Rev. 940_13w36, the PROMOTE jb will be represented as PROMOTn. If yu perfrmed an Actin C, use the CLISTs, REXX EXECs, and JCL prcedures in the <HLQ>.SL. data sets t test the additinal prducts. When yur testing is cmplete, submit the PROMOT1 jb t cpy the updates t yur prductin libraries. PROMOT1 will launch the rest f the PROMOTn jbs. Yu must exit the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL dataset after submitting the PROMOTn jb suite. Befre cpying an installatin t anther system, please cntact SAS Technical Supprt. Step 4. Archiving Yur SAS Sftware Dept Fr future maintenance r installatin f additinal SAS sftware prducts, yu will need yur SAS Sftware Dept.
