3 1. SEI Authring Template 1. Dwnlad the SEI template frm IABSE website fr preparing yur manuscript and submitting t IABSE (SEI). 2. Yu can pen the template directly in Micrsft Wrd applicatin 2007 r abve versin. Please save the template with yur manuscript name r number, befre yu start preparing yur manuscript. 3. G thrugh the instructins available in the first page f the template carefully and prepare the manuscript accrdingly. 2. SEI Menu Yu will find a SEI tab in the Menu bar (as shwn belw), as sn as the template/ dcument has been saved, and nce yu pen it with Micrsft Wrd. 2.1 Article Categry Please select the apprpriate paper categry (Scientific Paper r Technical Reprt) in the template which is available in the secnd page. This will adjust the required wrd limit and style requirements. 2.2 Manuscript Submitted date Enter the date f submissin. The date can be entered in the ptin called Submitted Date.

4 2.3 Article Main Title Please type yur paper s title in the field Article Title r cpy and paste text in this field. Title shuld preferably nt exceed 15 wrds, please d nt use any acrnyms in the title. Yu can als find an ptin in the SEI menu bar fr adding an article title, if by mistake the Article Title field in the template has been deleted. 2.4 Authr Names Enter Authr Names r list f creatrs in the field Authrs and fllw the instructins n the Authr Names frmatting alng with affiliatin details. The final typeset utput f yur paper s title and authr names sample is given belw fr yur reference. Als yu can find an ptin in the SEI menu bar fr adding an article title just in case if yu have deleted the Authr field in the template r the dcument that yu have saved ut f Template. 2.5 Abstract Directly key in the Abstract text r cpy-paste it in the field Abstract in the template. Please d fllw the instructins n maximum number f wrds allwed as per IABSE. N crss citatins such as references, figures, tables etc. are allwed in the Abstract s cntent.

Yu will als find an ptin in the SEI menu bar fr adding an abstract r authr details, if by mistake these fields were deleted in the template, befre saving. 2.6 Keywrds Enter the keywrds f yur paper in the field keywrds in the template, with a semicln separatr. Nt mre than 5 keywrds are allwed as per IABSE style guide. The sample typeset utput f Keywrds is given belw fr yur reference. 2.7 Bdy Text As per SEI jurnal guideline, fllwing heading levels are mandatry bth in Scientific and Technical Paper categries.

6 Yur paper may have multiple headings / subheadings such as H1, H2, H3 and etc. within the mandatry sectins given abve. Authrs are requested t apply frmatting/styling t the subheadings using ptin available in SEI menu bar (as shwn belw). An example f Mandatry sectin (Intrductin) having sub heading is given belw fr yur reference. 2.8 Crss citatins in the text References, figures, tables, and equatins (display r numbered) shuld definitely be crss cited within the main text. Authrs are requested t fllw belw frmatting fr the crss citatins References crss citatins All references shuld be cited and all cited references must be included in the reference list. This includes references cited in tables and figure captins. Within text, nly give the reference number and nt researcher names r prduct names.

7 References cited in the text shuld be indicated by numerical superscripts 1 in rder f appearance 2,3 fllwing any punctuatin. 4 6 e.g. The timber building under these cnditins is rbust 1 References in the flw f the sentence shuld have the Ref. n. in third bracket. E.g. This paper is based n Ref. [1]. When mre than ne then: Refs. [1, 4]. References shuld be listed in numerical rder at the end f the paper. Sample utput is given belw Figure & Table citatins in the text Figures & Tables shuld be referred t in the text. Figure and Table shuld nt be abbreviated when it cmes at the beginning f the sentence. In between text it can be abbreviated as Fig. 1, Figs. 2 and 3 and Table 1, Fig. 2a and b fr crss references. Sample utput is given belw.

8 2.9 Equatins Equatins must be captured r cnstructed using the MathType r default Math equatin cnstructin available in Micrsft Wrd. Authrs are requested NOT t paste equatins as images; as mentined abve it shuld be an editable math equatin in the manuscript. Numbers identifying the displayed mathematical expressin shuld be placed in parentheses and referred t within the text as Eq. (1), Eq. (2). Variables shuld be in Italics, Times Fnt Tables and Figures Table can be created using the Insert Table ptin available in the SEI menu bar. Click the ptin Insert Table t have the basic frmat f the table inserted in the dcument. Next, yu can fill in the date and then the number f rws and clumns.

9 If the table is already is available, please cpy past it in the dcument. The cntent f the table must be in editable mde. Please nte that all tables can als be placed at the end f the manuscript and nt necessarily within the main text except fr unnumbered tables. Use the ptin Insert Figure t insert a figure and its captin. Please nte that the figures embedded in the manuscript are fr reference purpse nly. Authrs are requested t submit each figure as an riginal high reslutin file (.tif,.eps,.pdf,.xls etc). Please nte that adding / embedding the images (frm anther surce) within the manuscript (wrd dcument) actually cmpresses the riginal image quality and is nt suitable fr printing. Therefre authrs are requested t submit figures separately with crrect figure numbering, when yu uplad yur paper in Manuscript Central/SchlarOne. 3. References References shuld be listed in numerical rder at the end f the paper. Jurnal titles shuld be abbreviated accrding t the American Chemical Sciety system. Reference List shuld nt include website addresses (nly) r such infrmatin (e.g. as per t authr etc.). Please insert them in a separate list Further Infrmatin and

10 number them as and s n. If this is the case, als insert a Cmment. Check that full and cmplete infrmatin is given in each reference.
