3 3 1. Introduction All laptops will now be encrypted in order to conform to the Government Connect Policy. Disk Protect Software will download to your laptop when you log in and you will get a message to reboot once the install is complete. A yellow padlock will appear in your taskbar by the clock. If you double click on the padlock you will be able to view the encryption process that will be taking place. This will run in the background and will not affect your work in any way. Disk Protect will run in Single Sign On mode which means that once you log into Disk Protect it will automatically log you into Windows. Master: BeCrypt_User_Guide_v2 Page 3 of 8

4 4 2. The Disk Protect Screen. When you first start up your laptop you will see the following screen Enter your Disk Protect Username and press Return. Your Disk Protect username will be the same as your Windows Network Username. Disk Protect asks you to enter your Disk Protect password Enter your current Windows Password and press Return. If the password was entered correctly, the computer launches Windows. You will have 3 attempts to enter your password. Master: BeCrypt_User_Guide_v2 Page 4 of 8

You will need to ring the Service Desk on 6666, they will reset your Windows password for you and help you get into your laptop The Service Desk will ask for your username and challenge code and will give you a response code. Enter the response code (without hyphens or spaces) and press Enter This will get you into the laptop and to the windows login screen. You must then enter the Windows password given to you by the Service Desk. This will be set so that you will have to change it immediately when you log in. 6 You will not have to change your windows password again as you have already done so but you will need to complete the following so you can synchronise your new windows password with your Disk

Double click on the padlock icon on your taskbar. Select your username in the users box and click Single Sign-On. Enter your new Windows password into both Disk Protect and Windows password boxes and click on Synchronise Passwords. Click ok to the following message Your passwords are now synchronised. 7 7 4. Changing Your Password You can change your password at any time by selecting ctrl + alt + del and clicking on Change Password. After you have changed your password a message will appear that lets you know that your Disk Protect Password has synchronised. If your password has expired and you have to enter a new one you may have to re-sync your passwords. A box may appear as below Enter your Username in both boxes for Disk Protect and Windows and enter your new Windows password into both Disk Protect and Windows password boxes and click on Synchronise Passwords. Next time you start up your laptop you will use this password to log into Disk Protect and this will log you into Windows again. Master: BeCrypt_User_Guide_v2 Page 7 of 8
