4 Informaion for he User Safe Insrucions The balance/scale has been consruced in accordance wih he European Direcives as well as inernaional regulaions and sandards for operaion of elecrical equipmen, elecromagneic compaibili and applicable safe requiremens. However, improper use or handling can resul in damage and/or injur. The equipmen ma onl be operaed b rained personnel. Operaors mus read hese insallaion insrucions, paricularl he safe informaion, and mus be familiar wih he operaion of he equipmen. The operaor mus supplemen hese warnings and safe precauions if necessar and rain operaing personnel accordingl. 3 Before operaing he balance, be sure o read he secion on safe insrucions in he enclosed insallaion manual. Inended Use Cubis models are fine precision balances wih high-resoluion. The were speciall developed for exac deerminaion of he mass of maerials in liquid, pase, powder or solid form. Suiable conainers mus be used o hold he maerials. The maximum balance capaci depending on he model ranges from 0.01 mg (smalles mass deerminaion) o 12.0 kg (larges mass deerminaion). Cubis models are designed speciall for use in research, educaion and da-o-da laboraor asks in science, echnolog and indusr. The are designed o be used exclusivel indoors. 5 Informaion for he User Operaion Turning he Balance On and Off Make sure he balance has been insalled and pu ino operaion in accordance wih he insallaion insrucions. On subsequen sars, he mos recenl acive user profile and ask are h opened (if a leas one user profile has been se up). If promped, level he balance (see Leveling he Balance for deails). Q-Guide Operaing Concep The Cubis precision and analical balances are conrolled b applicaion sofware wih ineracive operaor guidance. Once ou open a menu or selec an applicaion, brief insrucions shown on he displa will guide ou hrough he menu or applicaion sep-b-sep. A each sep along he wa, he displa shows onl hose opions ha are relevan o our process; his helps preven unnecessar deours and enables ou o reach our goal more quickl. Alhough operaion of he balance is for he mos par inuiive, his manual includes a secion wih ver deailed, sep-b-sep insrucions where ou can learn abou all of he available opions (see Creae a user profile in he chaper eniled User Managemen ). Basic Operaional Srucure The mos basic funcions, weighing and aring, can be carried ou as soon as he balance is swiched on. You can also se up password proecion o mee our securi requiremens. If ou do no require he user managemen feaures, simpl leave his area unconfigured; he balance can be operaed wihou defining an users. 6 Informaion for he User The Ssem Seings area under (Menu) conains all basic seings and parameers ha affec he enire operaion of he balance. The Wizard In some menus, ou can swich beween wo pes of displa: In he Overview, all parameers wih configured opions are lised; ou can selec each individual opion o change is seing. If ou acivae he Wizard in he same menu, he program guides ou forward in seps: The individual parameers and heir opions are hen displaed in sequence. 7 Informaion for he User Seing Up he Displa and Conrol Uni You can adjus he angle of he ilable displa and conrol uni as desired o ensure opimal readabili in ever siuaion. The color and brighness seings can also be adaped o he prevailing lighing condiions (see User Managemen and Ssem Seings for deails). Insering a Memor Card in he Displa and Conrol Uni You can cop daa, such as applicaion daa or user profiles, o an SD memor card. This is a quick and eas mehod of ransferring seings beween balances. The slo for he SD card is locaed on he back of he displa and conrol uni Til he conrol uni owards ou unil i is almos verical. 2. Lif he cover of he card slo. Hold he card wih he meal conacs facing owards ou. 3. Push he card ino he slo as far as i will go. The card snaps ino place. To remove he card, push i in and hen release. The card will pop ou for eas removal. 4. Press on he posiion lock and il he conrol uni back o he desired posiion. Quick Sar: Firs Weighing Operaion A Push he on/off ke o swich he balance on. Close he draf shield (if presen on our model). J Push he TARE ke o are he balance. When he balance has been ared, he readou will show a zero value. Open he draf shield (if applicable) and carefull place he sample on he weighing pan (in a suiable conainer). Close he draf shield (if presen on our model). 8 Informaion for he User Touch Screen User Inerface Man of he operaing seps involve use of he displa and sofkes. The laou of he displa depends on wheher he applicaion sofware is in operaing mode or wheher a menu is open (configuraion mode). Selecing a single opion: Whenever onl one ou of muliple opions can be seleced, selec he desired opion and confirm wih he sofke w. Selecing muliple opions: If several opions can be seleced, press he checkbox nex o each desired opion; To mark an opion, selec i and confirm wih he sofke w. Do he same for all desired opions. To coninue o he nex program sep, selec Nex. If he scroll indicaor appears on he righ edge of he displa, here are more opions han are shown on he displa. 10 Informaion for he User Enering Leers and Numbers When alphanumerical inpu is required, a kepad is shown on he ouch screen. A cursor is shown in he inpu line above he kepad. Selec he characer ou would like o inser using he cursor sofkes. To accep he characer, confirm wih he sofke Add. The characers are shown in he inpu line as he are enered. Press Back o cancel he inpu and go back one sep o he las screen. Press he Shif sofke o change he inpu mode beween uppercase leers, lowercase leers, numbers and he complee characer se wih special characers. Press Add o confirm he seleced characer and ransfer i o he ex line. Press OK o end he inpu and save our enr. Press backspace o delee he characer o he lef of he cursor. The wo arrows move he cursor one characer o he lef or righ. Acivaing or Changing Users In he operaing mode, he acive user is displaed in he user info area in he upper righ-hand corner of he displa. To acivae a differen user, open he User Managemen menu. H Press he ke USER H. The available users are lised. The currenl acive user is indicaed b an arrow and he highlighing. Use he cursor sofkes o selec he user ou would like o acivae, hen confirm wih he sofke w. The program reurns o he operaing mode, he seleced user is logged in wih he corresponding righs. 11 Informaion for he User Task Managemen In he Task Managemen menu (TASK), ou can: Sar a ask Configure a new ask Edi an exising ask (change, cop, delee). Numerous applicaions are available o ou for configuring a ask, such as weighing, par couning, calculaing. Ever ask conains a leas one of hese applicaions, bu i can also comprise a combinaion of muliple applicaions. You can use applicaions wih he seings configured a he facor or edi he seings for our own requiremens and preferences. The applicaion Weighing is presen as a basic funcion for ever ask. Which opions are available o a given user in he Task Managemen depends on ha user s righs: Adminisraors have access o all opions, while normal users have onl limied access (see User Adminisraion in he chaper User Managemen ). If no users have been defined, he Adminisraor is auomaicall acive. Global asks can be accessed b all users, while local asks are available onl o he users who creae hem. Excepion: A user can cop global asks, wih or wihou modificaion, o use as a basis for local asks. 12 Informaion for he User Using Applicaions wih Facor Seings All applicaions are prepared a he facor wih cerain configuraion seings. If ou wish o use he facor seings, ou can use he quick mehod for configuring a ask: D Open he Task Managemen and selec Edi.. Selec Creae The lis of applicaions is displaed. Selec he applicaion ou wish o use in he new ask. Selec Done. Ener a name and a descripion for he ask and selec Save. The new ask is sored wih he facor-se applicaion configuraion and added o he ask lis. Soring he Task Lis New asks are alwas added o he end of he ask lis. Once ou have configured a number of asks, ou ma find i helpful o sor he lis. D Open he ask lis. Selec Sor. The asks are lised in alphabeical order (A Z). To reverse he sor order, selec Sor again. To sor he asks b he dae of he las use, selec Sor once more. Work hrough all subsequen promps and configure our own values for he respecive parameers, if desired. 4. Perform seps 2 and 3 for addiional applicaions if ou would like o combine muliple applicaions. 5. 17 Informaion for he User Densi Deerminaion Purpose: Combinaion opions: Prerequisies: You can deermine he densi and volume of liquid, solid or pase-like subsances. Checkweighing, Timer Conrolled Acion, Toalizing, Saisics, SQmin Funcion, DKD Measuremen Uncerain, Second Tare Memor or Individual Idenifiers. In order o perform a densi deerminaion, ou mus have he Sarorius Densi Deerminaion Ki YDK01MS or similar ki. The bases for calculaion applied in densi deerminaion are described in he user manual on he included CD-ROM. There are four mehods of densi deerminaion o choose from: Deermining densi of liquid (wih glass plumme) Deermining densi based on buoanc wih he Sarorius Densi Deerminaion Ki YDK01 (for solids) Deermining densi based on displacemen (for solids) Deermining densi wih a pcnomeer (for liquid, pas and powdered samples) h The bases for calculaion applied in densi deerminaion are described in he user manual on he included CD-ROM. 21 Informaion for he User Calibraion and Adjusmen Background When o calibrae During calibraion, a es weigh is used o deermine how much he displaed value differs from he value acuall measured b he balance. This difference is compared o a predefined nominal mass value and is eliminaed b subsequen adjusmen. During linearizaion, he difference of he values from he ideal characerisic curve of he balance is compensaed. Calibraion and adjusmen should be performed regularl, such as dail afer swiching on he balance. Also calibrae afer ever leveling and whenever he ambien condiions have changed (emperaure, humidi or air pressure) and when he balance is se up in a new locaion. isocal is an auomaic calibraion funcion buil in o ever Cubis balance. You can modif his funcion for adapaion o our own requiremens. You also have he opion of seing up a reminder funcion ha promps for calibraion/adjusmen a user-defined inervals. h The process ma differ depending on he preses (see Ssem Seings / Weighing Parameers) for he calibraion/adjusmen funcion. Please noe he olerance of he calibraion weigh ou use. Swich o he operaing mode, if necessar. Make cerain ha he weighing pan is emp. Selec Cal./Adj. Selec Exernal cal./adj., facor-defined weigh followed b Sar As soon as ou are promped o do so, la he calibraion weigh on he balance. The procedure is execued; progress is shown on he displa. Wai unil he calibraion/adjusmen has been compleed (approximael 15 seconds). When he procedure has ended, he selecion lis is shown again. 23 Informaion for he User Ssem Seings (Menu) All of he seings ha direcl affec use of he balance are configured in his menu. These are basic seings; changes are effecive as soon as he are sored. Changed seings do no affec alread defined asks. Example: You can define he defaul values presened in he user menu when a new user profile is creaed. If ou specif a cerain color as he defaul (such as our compan color), his seing will be prese upon creaion of a user profile bu can sill be individuall changed. Adminisraors can access all funcions (excep for he Service area) and have all pes of righs in all areas of he program. Onl he Adminisraor can creae new user profiles and assign hem individual righs. On he oher hand, a user canno use all funcions. Users have resriced righs, which are defined in he user profile. No user profiles exis when he balance is delivered. The balance is in Adminisraor mode so ha all seings can be modified. The firs user profile creaed is auomaicall an Adminisraor accoun. This accoun is used o creae addiional accouns. Sep 7: Define Wheher Password Proecion is Acive If ou assign a password, his profile canno be used unil he password has been enered. Selec he corresponding opion o define wheher he user profile is passwordproeced or no. The password is defined in Sep 10. Onl he Adminisraor can open he user profile wihou he password (for example, if he user forges he password) and assign a differen password. The Adminisraor can remove he password proecion so ha a new password can be se, if desired. Sep 8: Check Your Seings Use he scroll bar or he down arrow o view all seings. To modif a seing, press he corresponding buon. This opens a screen showing he opions for ha seing. If he seings are correc, selec Nex. Sep 9: Define he Password (If Password Proecion Enabled) If ou seleced he opion for password proecion in Sep 7 (see above), ou are now promped o ener he desired password wice. Selec he upper buon.
