2 Preprtions Prepre the printer for use y instlling it nd connecting the power cord. stll the printer. Assemle the stnd nd instll the printer referring to the Printer Stnd Setup Guide included with the stnd. Remove the tpe nd other pcking mterils ttched to the printer. Open the top cover. Use the Allen wrench to loosen the screw of the elt stopper () nd then remove the screw from the elt stopper. Rotte the elt stopper to the left to remove it. Pull the crrige spcer () in the direction indicted y the rrow to remove it. The elt stopper, screw, crrige spcer, nd Allen wrench re needed if the printer is moved to nother loction. Keep the elt stopper, screw, crrige spcer nd Allen wrench in sfe plce. Neglecting to ttch the elt stopper nd crrige spcer when moving the printer to nother loction cn result in dmge to the printer. 5 Lift the ejection guide. Attch the four ejection supports () to the ck of the ejection guide. 7 Close the ejection guide nd the top cover. 8 Plug the power cord into the power supply connector on the ck of the printer nd plug the other end into n electric outlet.

Pull the printhed fixer lever forwrd ll the wy to open it completely. structions on printhed instlltion re shown on the disply screen. 7 Lift the printhed fixer cover to open it fully. 8 Hold the printhed y the grips () s you remove it from the pouch. 9 Remove the ornge protective prt (). Remove the other ornge protective prt () while holding the grip (c). c. Never touch the prts covered y the protective prts. Doing so my dmge the printhed nd ffect printing qulity. The printhed contins ink, so e creful not to spill it once the protective prts re removed. Do not rettch the protective prts fter removing them. Dispose of these mterils ccording to locl regultions. 0 sert the printhed into the crrige () with the ink holes () up nd fcing the front of the printer s shown in the figure. Crefully push the printhed firmly into the crrige (), ensuring tht the prts tht were covered y the protective prts do not touch the crrige (). Pull the printhed fixer cover down towrd the front to lock the printhed in plce. Push the printhed fixer lever ll the wy ck.

Pull the crrige cover forwrd. 5 Close the top cover. stll the k Tnks Lod ll ink tnks. structions on ink tnk instlltion re shown on the disply screen. Rise the stopper () of the ink tnk lock lever for the color you re loding. After Open the ink tnk covers s instructed. rising the ink tnk lock lever s fr s possile, pull it forwrd. Shke ech ink tnk gently 7 to 8 times efore opening its pouch. R G Filure to shke the ink tnks my result in reduced print qulity ecuse ink ingredients hve settled on the ottom of the tnk. Press down on the ink tnk lock lever until it locks. Mke sure the ink tnk lock lever stys in the locked position. Open the pouch nd remove the ink tnk. 5 Orient the ink tnks nd plce them in the holders with ink holes down s shown in the figure. After rising the ink tnk lock lever s fr s possile, press it ck down until it clicks into plce. Never touch the ink holes or metl contcts. Touching these prts my cuse stins, dmge the ink tnk, nd ffect print qulity. Avoid dropping the ink tnk fter removing it from the pouch. Otherwise, ink my lek nd cuse stins. Do not remove ink tnks to shke them fter they hve een instlled. Doing so my cuse ink to spill. B An ink tnk cnnot e plced in the holder if it is not oriented correctly for the color. Do not try to force n ink tnk into the holder if it does not go in normlly. Check the color indicted on the lel ffixed to the ink tnk lock lever nd the ink tnk orienttion, nd then try plcing the tnk into the holder gin.

5 PM M BK 7 Mke sure the ink lmp lights red. R G B 8 Repet steps to 7 to instll ech of the ink tnks. Close the ink tnk covers. After ll the ink tnks nd printheds hve een instlled, the printer utomticlly strts chrging the system with ink. Chrging the system with ink for the first time tkes out minutes. Use this time to instll the printer driver nd mnuls on your computer. If you decide to instll the printer driver nd mnuls lter, wit for the system to e chrged with ink nd then proceed to pge "Lod Pper to Adjust the Printheds". If the ink lmp does not light, repet steps, 5, nd. During printer instlltion, ink fills the system etween the ink tnks nd printheds. The ink level quickly flls to 80% (0% for strter ink tnks). This is norml. stll the Printer Driver nd the User Mnul Windows You cn print from Windows vi USB or TCP/IP (network) connections. The instlltion procedure vries depending on how your printer is connected. stll the printer driver nd the User Mnul s follows. <Comptile Operting Systems> Windows 7, Windows Vist, Windows Server 008, Windows Server 00, Windows XP, Windows 000 The following screen my e displyed during instlltion depending on the security settings of your computer. Select Dectivte the lock nd click Next. stlltion requires dministrtive rights (such s those of Administrtor). Be sure to log on using n ccount with dministrtive rights efore instlltion. For USB connections Use USB cle tht conforms to the Hi-Speed USB specifiction. Connect the USB cle to the printer ccording to the on-screen instructions during instlltion of the printer driver. If you connect the USB cle efore instlling the printer driver, the printer driver my not e instlled correctly. After mking sure the printer is not connected to the computer, turn the computer on. sert the provided User Softwre CD-ROM for your operting system in the CD-ROM drive. the Setup Menu window, click stll Printer Driver. To choose different lnguge, click Lnguge. Confirm tht the required instlltion items re selected in the stlltion List window, nd then click Next. the Select Country or Region of Use window, select the country or region of 5 After reding the license greement, click Yes. use nd click Next. Point t softwre title to view summry of the softwre. 5

If wrning messge is displyed, click Retry to try gin. 9 After reviewing the instlltion results in the Complete stlltion window, click Next. 0 the Finish window, select Restrt my computer now nd click Restrt. Be creful not to insert the USB cle into the Ethernet port. stll the User Mnul The printer driver settings tke effect fter the computer restrts. This completes printer driver instlltion. An ipfxxxx Support desktop icon is creted fter instlltion. (ipfxxxx represents the printer model.) Next, instll the User Mnul. When the stll User Mnul dilog ox is displyed, insert the provided User Mnuls CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive nd click Next. Click Next. After reding the softwre license greement, select I ccept the terms of the license greement, nd then click Next. 5 Click stll. The instlltion process egins. After instlltion is completed, click Finish. The User Mnul is now instlled. After you hve finished setting up the printer nd instlling the printer driver nd User Mnul, we recommend performing color clirtion. Color clirtion compenstes for chnges in color from individul vrition mong printheds or from the printing environment, ensuring etter color consistency. Perform color clirtion using the provided Smple Pper, which is comptile with this process. For informtion on other comptile pper, refer to the Pper Reference Guide. During color clirtion, on the control pnel's disply screen, open (settings/dj. t) nd select Adjust Printer - Clirtion - Auto Adjust. The process of color clirtion tkes out ten minutes.

7 For TCP/IP (network) connections When you first connect the printer to the network Use the LAN cle to connect the LAN port on the ck of the printer to the hu port. If the printer is on, the Link indictor under the LAN port lights. 000Bse-T The top nd ottom LEDs connection light. 00Bse-TX The LED on the ottom connection lights green. 0Bse-T connection The LED on the top lights ornge. Mke sure the printer is on. Turn the computer on nd insert the provided User Softwre CD-ROM for your operting system in the CD-ROM drive. the Setup Menu window, click stll Printer Driver. Confirm tht the required instlltion items re selected in the stlltion List window, nd then click Next. 5 the Select Country or Region of Use window, select the country or region of use nd click Next. To choose different lnguge, click Lnguge. Point t softwre title to view summry of the softwre. After reding the license greement, click Yes. 7 the Printer Selection window, select The printer is connected to computers 8 After reding the precutions in the Getting Redy window, select Find in network nd click Next. ville printers in the network nd click Next. 9 Aville printers re listed in the Serch Results window. Select printer from the list on either their IPv Devices or IPv Devices ts nd click Next. The IPv Devices t is displyed in Windows 7, Windows Vist, nd Windows Server 008. If the printer you wnt to use is not displyed in the list on the IPv Devices t, connect vi IPv insted. If the printer you wnt to use is not displyed in the list of printers on the IPv Devices t, refer to "When the printer cnnot e found on the network" on pge 8 to setup nd configure n IP ddress for the printer. 7

8 0 the Method of Configuring IP Addresses window, enter the IP ddress in Configure mnully, under Method of Configuring IP Addresses. Click stll to strt the instlltion process. Also enter your preferred nme for the printer in Device Nme nd the instlltion loction in Printer Loction under formtion Aout Printer to Configure, s desired. The instlltion process egins. If you use DHCP server for utomtic ssignment of the printer's IP ddress, printing my no longer e possile fter the printer is turned off nd on. This is ecuse different IP ddress hs een ssigned. When using DHCP server functions, consult your network dministrtor nd configure the settings in one of the following wys: Configure the setting for dynmic DNS updting the printer menu, either set DNS Dync updte to On, or ctivte the setting Enle DNS Dynmic Updte in RemoteUI. ( "Menu Settings", User Mnul) ( "Configuring the Printer's TCP/IP Network Settings", User Mnul) Configure the setting for ssignment of the sme IP ddress ech time the printer strts up After reviewing the instlltion results in the Complete stlltion window, click Next. the Finish window, select Restrt my computer now nd click Restrt. When the printer cnnot e found on the network If your printer cnnot e found when connecting to the network for the first time, setup n IP ddress for the printer nd then configure it on the printer. On the t selection screen of the control pnel, press the nd keys to select (settings/dj. t) nd press OK. Use the nd keys to select terfce Setup nd press OK. When ink fills the system for the first time, fter printhed djustment is finished, specify the IP ddress on the printer's control pnel. When ink fills the system for the first time, do not operte the printer until printhed djustment is finished. No Pper Loded OK:Setting/Adj. Menu Mint. crt. Remining Amount Use the nd keys to select TCP/IP nd press OK. Enter the IP ddress. Nvigte through the following menus using the nd keys on the control pnel.. Select IPv nd press OK.. Select IPv Settings nd press OK.. Select IP Address nd press OK.. Enter the IP ddress. How to enter IP ddresses. Press the nd keys to select field for inputting vlues.. Use the nd keys to input vlues. Pressing increses the vlue y one. Pressing decreses the vlue y one. Holding down either the or keys continully increses or decreses the vlue.. Press OK once you hve finished. 5 Press Press Menu. OK on the registrtion confirmtion messge tht ppers. The IP ddress is set on the printer. Next, restrt instlltion of the printer driver. 7 the Serch Results window, select Specify the IP ddress of ville printers in the network nd click Next. The IP Address Specifiction window ppers. Follow steps 8- on pge 0 to finish instlling the printer driver. If the following screen ppers, click Retry nd select Specify the IP ddress of ville printers in the network on the next screen tht ppers. Next, follow steps - on pge to instll the User Mnul. 8

11 Mcintosh You cn print from Mcintosh vi USB or network connections such s Bonjour or IP. stll the printer driver tht suits your printing environment. <Comptile Operting Systems> Mc OS X 0..9 or lter Connect the printer to computer Connect the cle Use cle to connect the printer to computer or the network. For USB connections For network connections Mke sure the printer is on. Turn the computer on. Be creful not to insert the USB cle into the Ethernet port. Configure the computer stll the printer driver Be sure to log in s user with dministrtive rights when instlling the printer driver. sert the provided User Softwre CD-ROM for your operting system in the CD-ROM drive. On the desktop, doule-click the CD-ROM icon nd then the ipf Printer Setup icon. User Softwre If the following screen is displyed, enter the user nme nd pssword of user Confirm tht the required instlltion with dministrtive rights nd click OK. items re selected, nd then click Next. 5 Select the country or region where the printer will e used nd click Next.

12 Click Next. 7 After reding the softwre license greement, click Continue. 8 Click Agree. 9 Click Continue. 0 Exit other pplictions nd click Continue. Items selected in step re instlled. Click OK. Click Quit. This completes printer driver instlltion. Next, select the printer to set up. Click Next. Select the printer to setup nd click Next. 5 After entering your preferred nme for the printer in Printer Nme nd the instlltion loction in Loction, click Register. Click Finish. To register the printer y entering its IP ddress, click Registering IP Address. Enter the IP ddress of the desired printer in IP Address nd click Next. To register nother printer, click Continue Registrtion, nd repet steps to. stll the User Mnul 7 Click OK. 8 The following screen is displyed nd pper informtion is updted. When the pper informtion hs een updted, the screen is no longer displyed. 9 Next, instll the User Mnul. sert the provided User Mnuls CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. If the sme model of printer is lredy registered on the computer, screen is displyed for printer selection. Select the desired printer nd click Next.

13 0 Doule-click the ipfxxxx Mnul stller icon on the CD-ROM. (ipfxxxx represents the printer model.) Select the region where the printer will e used nd the lnguge of the user mnul to instll, nd then click OK. Check the messge nd click Continue. After reding the softwre license greement, click Continue. Click Agree. 5 Click stll. After instlltion is completed, click Quit. The User Mnul is now instlled. After you hve finished setting up the printer nd instlling the printer driver nd User Mnul, we recommend performing color clirtion. Lod Pper to Adjust the Printheds Follow these steps to lod the provided smple pper for printhed djustment. Select type of pper for printhed dj. is shown on the disply screen. Use the nd keys to select Roll Pper nd then press OK. Open the top cover nd rise the ejection guide. Remove the roll holder from the printer.

14 Rise the holder stopper lever () from the shft side to unlock the stopper. While holding the holder stopper in the position in the figure indicted y (), remove the holder stopper from the roll holder. 5 With the leding edge of the roll of pper towrds the front s shown in the figure, insert the roll holder from the right side of the roll of pper. sert the roll holder ll the wy until the pper is touching the flnge () of the roll holder. We recommend wering clen cotton gloves when hndling rolls of pper to protect the printle surfce. sert the roll holder s fr s it will go so there is no gp etween the pper nd the roll holder flnge. A gp cn cuse the pper to feed irregulrly. Do not plce roll of pper on desk or other flt surfce where it my roll off. A flling pper roll cretes the risk of personl injury. Do not llow the roll holder to e sujected to strong impct when loding roll of pper. Strong impct cn dmge the roll holder. As shown in the figure, slide the holder stopper onto the roll holder from the left. Holding the holder stopper t the position in the figure mrked (), press until the holder stopper flnge () is securely in contct with the pper. Lower the holder stopper lever (c) to the shft side to lock it. 7 With the side of the roll holder with the white ger fcing the sme direction s the roll holder slot with the white ger, set the roll holder shft () into the left nd right guide grooves () of the roll holder slots. Allow the shft to slide into the guides s fr s possile. c sert the roll holder s fr s it will go so there is no gp etween the pper nd the roll holder flnge. A gp cn cuse the pper to feed irregulrly. Remove ll wrinkles nd curls from the pper, if ny, efore loding it. When setting the shft into the guides, tke cre so the roll of pper does not fll nd creted the risk of personl injury. Be creful to not pinch your fingers etween the shft of the roll holder shft () nd the guide grooves () when loding roll of pper. 8 Pull out the pper so it is even on oth sides nd insert it into the feed slot (), nd feed it until it contcts the pper retiner (). The pper feeds utomticlly until it contcts the pper retiner. Tke cre to void soiling the printing surfce when removing rolls of pper. A soiled printing surfce cn ffect printing qulity. Remove ll wrinkles nd curls from the pper, if ny, efore loding it. When loding pper, mke sure there is no gp etween the right side of the roll nd the roll holder. 9 Lower the ejection guide. Lower the ejection guide crefully, tking cre tht the ejection supports () do not touch the pper.

15 0 While holding the leding edge of the pper roll, rise the relese lever. Holding the leding edge of the pper with oth hnds, gently pull it to the ejection guide () s you ensure tht the left nd right sides remin even nd tht the right edge of the pper remins prllel with the ornge pper lignment line (). Next, lower the relese lever. Close the top cover. After roll of pper is loded, the disply screen utomticlly disply pper type selection menu nd the printer eeps. Be sure to perform steps 0 nd. If pper cnnot feed stright or ecomes curled, it my ru ginst the print hed or e jmmed. Do not pull pper in n ttempt to force it to lign with the pper lignment line (). Doing so my cuse the pper to not feed stright. The screen for selecting the pper type is shown on the disply screen. Press or to select the type of pper loded in the printer. Select Coted Pper nd then press OK. Then from the menu tht ppers, select HW Coted nd then press OK. Printhed position djustment strts utomticlly. When printhed djustment is finished, Redy ppers on the disply screen. Printer setup is now complete. If Pper loded crooked. ppers on the disply screen, refer to steps 0 nd to relod the roll of pper.
