Only use the ccessories supplied with the unit. 4

5 To prevent injury,this pprtus must be securely ttched to the floor/wll in ccordnce with the instlltion instructions. Never instll this product in confined spce. Alwys leve spce or t lest four inches round the product for ventiltion. Connect it to your television using the ARC HDMI input nd forget bout it. The Qm2 becomes one with your TV, leving you to discover both sides of this unique product, Music nd Movies. Turn on the Qm2 nd Music mode is enbled by defult. If you choose to plce your TV ontop of this soundbr plese do so with cution. The TV bse must not extend over the sides of the soundbr nd the TV must sit in the centre of the Qm2. For best performnce it is recommended tht this product is used ontop of n AV stnd or inside cbinet. Plese see illustrtions below. Do not exceed the mximum TV weight limit of 25kg when plcing TV ontop of the Qm2. 9

IR Sensor The IR sensor is hidden behind the speker grille in the centre towrds the top of the Unit. This sensor MUST be unobstructed for direct line-of-sight to the remote, or the remote will not be ble to control the Unit. 10

12 b. HDMI (ARC) HDMI (ARC) is for connection to the Audio Return Chnnel (ARC) output on TV or other source. If there is choice between HDMI or Opticl connection to the Unit choose HDMI to enble Consumer Electronic Control (CEC). When the HDMI source is ctive the sttus LED will be PURPLE. Importnt Note: Audio output of TV, Blu-ry disc plyer, gmes console, or DVD plyer connected to the Unit vi HDMI, must be set to PCM (two chnnel stereo) in the source setup. HDMI Audio Return Chnnel (ARC) c. Opticl Input Opticl In is for connection to the Digitl Opticl output on TV or other source. If there is choice between Digitl or Anlogue connection to the Unit choose Digitl for superior udio qulity. When the Digitl Source is ctive the sttus LED will be WHITE. Importnt Note: Audio output of TV, Blu-ry disc plyer, gmes console, or DVD plyer connected to the Unit vi Opticl Digitl, must be set to PCM (two-chnnel stereo) in the source s setup. 13 d. Anlogue Inputs Line In 1 The Unit hs two options for Anlogue udio connection. The Sttus LED will be GREEN when n Anlogue input is in use. AUDIO OUT Hedphones e. Anlogue Inputs Line In 2 Connect the RCA L&R udio output from TV or other source to the LINE IN 2 sockets using Phono RCA cble. AUDIO OUT Anlogue Importnt Note: With jck plugged into LINE IN 1, LINE IN 2 is switched-off nd no udio will be herd from this source. Plese Note: When connecting to vrible level source, such s hedphone output, better udio qulity will be chieved by hving the source set t higher volume level nd the Unit t lower level, thn the other wy round. 13

14 f. AC Mins Input Universl power connector utomticlly selects AC voltge for given region. Connect to the included AC Mins Cble for your country. Importnt Note: Alwys remove the AC Mins Cble when mking connections to the Rer Pnel. AC MAINS Regionl mins cble g. USB for Service Only Universl Seril Bus (USB) for service only. This USB port will not provide 5V power, nd cnnot be used for nything other thn Service Updtes. 14

15 4. Remote control. Power Press this button to turn the Unit STANDBY ON/OFF. b. Source select Press this button to mnully select the udio input source. The sttus LED will chnge colour ccordingly. Importnt Note: When the Source button is used, the Unit will sty on the selected source nd disble the Intelligent Pre- Amplifier (IPA) utomtic source selection. IPA functions will be rectivted fter the Unit hs been put in STANDBY. c. Volume Up / Down Press VOL + to increse the volume. Press VOL to reduce the volume. d. Mute Press this button once to MUTE the Unit. Sttus LED will SLOW FLASH to indicte MUTE. Press this button gin to un-mute the Unit. Plese Note: Long press of Mute will lso put the Unit into STANDBY. b c d e e. EQ Short press the EQ button to toggle MoviEQ On nd Off. If the Yellow LED flshes nd remins on, MoviEQ is On. Remote Control bttery replcement Cution: When replcing the lithium bttery in the remote, mke sure tht the replcement bttery is inserted with the correct polrity. Plce the bttery so tht the positive (+) side fces up with the try held so the surfce with the dot nd (+) is fcing up.. Push smll tb towrd bttery slot. b. Pull bttery drwer out. c. Insert bttery with + side up nd slide drwer bck into remote. d. Slide drwer bck into remote. Cution: Dnger of explosion if bttery is incorrectly replced. Replce only with the sme or equivlent bttery type (CR2025) Wrning: Do not expose btteries to excessive het such s direct sunlight, fire or the like. 16 Operting Q Acoustics Unit 1. On / In+ / In- This EQ switch should be the first thing you set on your Unit. The Unit hs been voiced by our coustic experts to get the best udio performnce possible for the three most common plcements within room. Simply select the plcement tht best fits your living environment using the switch on the Rer Pnel, nd let Q Acoustics hndle the rest. ON = On cbinet IN+ = In lrge cbinet IN- = In smll cbinet 2. Power nd stndby With the AC Mins turned off, plug in the AC Mins Cble. Once ll Rer Pnel udio connections re mde, turn the AC Mins ON. The spekers will enter STANDBY, nd show RED sttus LED. Exit STANDBY by turning connected source ON, or by pressing the STANDBY button on either the Top Pnel or the IR remote. The LED will then chnge colour ccording to the AUTO SOURCE SELECT rules. If NO input signls re detected, the Unit will select the Anlogue input nd then utomticlly enter STANDBY fter 20 minutes. 3. Intelligent Pre-Amplifier (IPA ) In norml opertion the IPA will be ctive. Q Acoustics IPA is designed so the user requires the minimum mount of effort to get full functionlity. The IPA will AUTO ON/OFF nd AUTO SOURCE SELECT ccording to our crefully designed intelligence mtrix. 4. Auto On / Off When connected to n udio source, the Unit hs n AUTO ON function nd will come out of STANDBY when it detects n ctive udio signl is connected. When the udio signl is stopped for pre-defined period of time, the Unit hs n AUTO OFF function nd will go into STANDBY. This, for exmple, llows esy integrtion of the Unit with your TV, utomticlly turning ON nd OFF in synchronistion with your TV STANDBY control. 5. Auto On / Off Times 5.1. HDMI ON time is determined by the CEC response time of your TV; it cn tke between 0-10s. OFF time is determined by the CEC response time of your TV; it cn tke between 0-5s Opticl ON time is immedite once the red Opticl light from your source comes on. OFF time is immedite once the red Opticl light from your source turns off. Plese Note: Some televisions continue their opticl output when the TV is in STANDBY. The Unit will not AUTO OFF under these circumstnces nd the STANDBY control must be used. 16

17 5.3. Bluetooth ON time is determined by the AVRCP response time of your Bluetooth device; once your device is connected, nd you press Ply it cn tke between 1-5s. OFF time is determined by the AVRCP response time of your Bluetooth device. Once you turn Bluetooth off, or disconnect your device it cn tke between 1-3s Line In 1 / 2 ON time is determined by the udio signl level; when the signl level is udible it cn tke between 1-3s. OFF time is determined by the udio signl level; when the signl level is not udible it will tke 20 minutes. Plese Note: If the user plces the Unit in STANDBY while source is still plying, the AUTO ON function will be disbled until the source is stopped. This will prevent the Unit from unwnted AUTO ON. For Line In 1/2 the signl must be t not udible level for 20 minutes before the Unit AUTO ON will function. 6. Auto source select HDMI ARC Opticl input Bluetooth Line in 1 INPUT PRIORITY Line in 2 Stndby The IPA follows priority list for connected udio sources. A connected HDMI source tht strts to ply hs the highest priority, followed by Opticl, then Bluetooth nd finlly Anlogue 1 nd 2: Importnt Note: The IPA cn be overridden t ny time by simple mnul SOURCE SELECTION from the user. Simply press the SOURCE SELECT button on the remote, or short press of the STANDBY Button on the Unit. The IPA will rectivte once the Unit hs been put into STANDBY. 7. Low source gin (LSG ) During our extensive testing we found tht on number of mnufcturer s equipment the digitl signl output level is lower thn the expected Full Scle (FS). To llow our users to get the best udio experience from the Q Acoustics Unit we hve included LSG switch. The LSG switch cn be found on the Rer Pnel, nd hs two settings. 1 = Norml gin 2 = Incresed 6dB of gin for Opticl nd HDMI sources 17

18 You should first listen to your setup with LSG = 1 If you find your signl level to be quite low from your TV/DVD plyer/music source, plese select LSG = 2. Plese Note: You will not require the LSG if you re using Stremer/CD plyer Opticl output. Hi-Fi udio equipment will output FS digitl udio. Audio will be highly distorted if you hve LSG = 2 in this scenrio. 8. Source volume control Audio sources will initilly be set t DEFAULT volume level. The volume cn be djusted seprtely for ech source using the VOL + nd VOL buttons on the Top Pnel or IR remote. Once djusted, the IPA will remember the new volume level for the currently selected source, nd will return to tht level ech time tht source is re-selected. 9. Bluetooth 9.1. Piring Bluetooth device The unit is designed to be Discoverble when in STANDBY, to llow AUTO ON. It is lso designed to utomticlly go into Piring mode if there is no Bluetooth device connected. To Pir your Bluetooth source: 1. Connect the AC Mins Cble to the Unit nd switch ON. 2. Mke sure Bluetooth is enbled on the device to be Pired. The Bluetooth controls re typiclly found in the device s Settings or Connections menu. 3. On your device s list of discoverble devices, you should now see Q M2. 4. Select Q M2 nd your device will now be Pired vi Bluetooth nd Connected. 5. From within the music plyer on your device, select Q M2 s the udio output nd press Ply. Unless the remote hs been used to mnully select nother source nd override the IPA, or higher priority source is ctive, the Unit will switch to Bluetooth input nd the LED will turn Blue Piring Bluetooth device with NFC 1. Connect the AC Mins Cble to the unit nd switch ON. 2. Mke sure Bluetooth nd NFC re enbled in the device settings. 3. Plce NFC device on the top surfce of the Unit, in the loction indicted. Plese Note: You my need to rotte your device for NFC to connect, s NFC coils re in different loctions within different devices. Plese see your device instruction mnul for correct NFC opertion. The distnce needed for successful NFC Piring cn vry from device to device. 4. The NFC device will utomticlly register on screen when n NFC connection hs been mde. 5. Follow on-screen instructions to complete NFC Piring. This usully involves selecting to llow NFC Piring. 6. Your device will now be Pired, nd Connected vi Bluetooth, nd will function s ny other Bluetooth source when pressing Ply from within the device music plyer. Plese Note: Although strting to Ply trck on the connected source will cuse the Unit to switch to Bluetooth, the Unit will sty on Bluetooth until the source is Disconnected. It will not switch to lower priority source whilst the plyer is Pused. Plese Note: The IPA will switch to Bluetooth the first time connected device sends ny udio signl, including messge lerts, notifiction nd key press effects. Plese Note: When Connected, the device s volume nd mute buttons will control the Unit using AVRCP. You will lso notice tht if you switch wy from the Bluetooth source, your currently plying trck will PAUSE for you. Not ll Bluetooth devices re AVRCP comptible. 18

19 9.3. Going out of rnge When Connected device goes out of rnge, the Unit will remin on the Bluetooth chnnel. When the device returns in rnge it will utomticlly re-connect to the Unit. In mny cses Ply must be pressed on the device to resume udio plybck. Whilst out of rnge, the Unit source cn still be chnged using the SOURCE SELECT button or by turning on higher priority source. Plese Note: If the Bluetooth source does not come bck into rnge for 20 minutes the Unit will utomticlly go into STANDBY Piring more thn one Bluetooth device The Unit cn hve up to eight Bluetooth devices in its Piring list. When you Pir with the 9th device the detils of the first device will be lost. Once the Unit is connected with device, it will stop utomticlly serching for other devices to Pir with or Connect to. To Connect to nother device, either Disconnect the currently connected source on the device itself or press the Bluetooth Pir button on the Rer Pnel of the Unit Coming out of stndby If there is Pired device in proximity to the Unit when it comes out of STANDBY it will utomticlly initite connection to the device. It will not switch to Bluetooth input until Ply is pressed on the device. 10. MoviEQ MoviEQ is Q Acoustics preferred blnce to mximize the excitement nd drm from your TV nd Movie viewing. MoviEQ is simply toggled On or Off by pressing the Remote Control EQ button. The LED will indicte whether MoviEQ is turned on by flsh pttern shown below: Yellow flsh x 2 + yellow = MoviEQ On Yellow flsh x 2 + red = MoviEQ Off 11. Lip Sync The Unit hs lip sync feture for its HDMI nd Opticl inputs. This llows up to 50ms of dely to be dded to the udio for synchronistion with screen. When in Lip Sync mode, the lip sync is djustble in 10ms steps using the Vol + nd buttons. To enter Lip Sync mode simply double tp the Bluetooth Pir button on the Rer Pnel of the Unit. The lip sync time is then djusted nd displyed by the following flsh pttern, the LED will mintin the colour of the currently selected source: 0ms = 2 flsh 10ms = 4 flsh 20ms = 6 flsh 30ms = 8 flsh 40ms = 10 flsh 50ms = 12 flsh After 30 seconds of no other button presses the Unit will exit Lip Sync mode nd return to norml opertion. You will only hve to set the Lip Sync once s the Unit remembers the dely times for both HDMI nd Opticl seprtely. 19

20 Cble / stellite remote control The Q Acoustics system hs been designed for esy integrtion into your home entertinment system s it hs the bility to be controlled by mny types of PROGRAMMABLE REMOTE CONTROL. This my include the remote control for your SATELLITE nd CABLE system if it hs PUNCH THROUGH cpbility. Punch through is the common term for being ble to progrm your remote control to send IR codes to both TV nd n AV Premplifier/Processor. To use punch through you normlly select the TV you wish to support first, nd then the AV Premplifier/Processor. The Unit uses the PHILIPS RC5 protocol for AV Premplifiers/Processors. Progrmming your remote with PHILIPS AV codes should llow you to control volume nd mute of your Unit. In some cses you my lso be ble to control STANDBY nd SOURCE SELECT with buttons such s nd. Mnufcturers often offer severl PHILIPS code options for their remote controls. We recommend tht you work through the PHILIPS code list for your remote nd experiment with ech one until you find one tht works well with the Unit. It is esiest to recognise when one is working by pressing the volume up/down buttons. We cnnot gurntee tht the Unit will work with your prticulr remote s the IR codes it sends re outside our control, however by supporting the commonly used Philips stndrd we hope to hve mde it s esy s possible to gin control of your device with the remote control of your choice.
