1 Created April 2009 This application note shows how to set up an ethernet SP700 for kitchen ticket printing from POSERA Maitre D Software. Recommended SP700 Restaurant Printer Options: Two Color Red/Black Ink Ribbon, Wall Mount Kit, Kitchen Alarm POSERA Maitre D Software ( Table of Contents Maitre D Configuration Page 1 Back Up Printer Configuration Page 9 Maitre D Configuration 1. Ensure the SP700 is installed on the system with a static IP address assigned. For instructions on how to install the SP700 and assign it a static IP address, visit the FAQ section of 2. Start the Maitre D server by clicking the Windows Start button and navigating Programs > Startup > Maitre D POS Server 3. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > Maitre D Back-Office > Maitre D Back-Office and log in. 4. Click the icon in the upper left corner to access the Point of Sale Control menu.

2 5. In the top menu bar, click Workstation and Options. 6. Highlight the workstation to be configured and click the Modify button.

3 7. Click Printers in the left menu bar. Each station can be assigned the same or different network printers. Click the icon next to the Appetizer field. 8. Click the Add button.

4 9. Enter a unique name for the printer. 10. Place a check in the box next to Network. Then, click the Modify button.

5 11. Enter the SP700 s static IP address. Enter 9100 for the Port Number. Change the Printer Type to SP300 Star Cutter. Then, click the OK button in the lower left hand corner. 12. Click the drop down box next to Printout and set it to the SP700. Assigning a replacement printer is covered starting on page 10 of this document. Click the OK button in the lower left hand corner. 13. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner.

6 14. Click the drop down box next to the desired kitchen stations and assign the SP Click the Apply button and then the OK button in the lower right hand corner. 16. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner. 17. In the top menu bar, click Workstation and Printer type.

7 18. Highlight SP300 Star Cutter and click the Modify button.

8 19. Click Status in the left menu bar. Enter 04 into the Status field. Leave the other fields blank. Click Apply. 20. Click OK. 21. Click Close in the lower right hand corner. Congratulations! You have successfully set up your ethernet SP700 to print kitchen tickets from Maitre D. To learn how to assign back up printers, continue to page 9.

9 Assigning a Back Up Kitchen Printer Multiple kitchen printers can be set up in Maitre D to service different stations. Follow the instructions in this application note for each ethernet kitchen printer you wish to set up. 1. To assign a back up printer as a failsafe, open the POS Workstation Screen and go to the Printers section. Click the icon next to the Appetizer field; this will display all printers that have been set up. 2. Highlight the kitchen printer you wish to set a back up for and click the Modify button.

10 3. Click the drop down box next to Replacement and select the back up printer. Then click the OK button. 4. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner. 5. Click the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to save configuration. Congratulations! You have successfully assigned a back up kitchen printer. Should the terminal driving Kitchen_Printer_A go down, Kitchen_Printer_B will now print all kitchen orders sent to A.
