1 Installing a Star TSP100Lan Printer on Windows OS using futureprnt v5.0 to v6.0 Introduction Number: 280 This application note shows how to install a Star TSP100LAN Ethernet Printer on Windows OS using the futureprnt Driver/Configuration Utility package. This document also includes instruction for assigning a Static or Dynamic IP Address. Supported Printers: TSP100LAN Supported Interfaces: Ethernet Supported Environments: Windows 8.1 (32bit/64bit), Windows 8(32bit/64bit), Windows 7(32bit/64bit), and Windows Vista (32bit/64bit), Windows XP Star Tools Needed: futureprnt Driver V5.0 to V6.0 Table of Contents I. Insert the CD into the CDROM driver or click AutoRun.exe in the main directory to execute the installer. If the CD was misplaced, the driver can be downloaded for free from the Star Micronics Global Support Site. NOTE: When downloading the driver, please make sure to extract the file before click on Autorun.exe 2. Click Installation. 11/11, V1.0 Page 1

3 5. Enter User Name and Organization and click Next. 6. Select Typical and then click Next. 11/11, V1.0 Page 3

6 II. Ethernet Printer Installation(Static) 1. Determine the printer s IP Address on the network. This can be done by performing a self-test page. Ensure the printer power is off and that it is connected to the network. Press and hold the FEED button in the front while turning the power switch on. Release the FEED button after approximately three seconds. The printer outputs the first page of the self test showing hardware settings. About ten seconds later, the next self test print showing network configuration. The bottom of this second printout shows the IP Address, as displayed below. Note: If the IP Address line feeds (Didn t obtain), the printer did not receive an IP Address. Using a Static IP Address, mean that the IP Address will not change on the printer side and will remain the same until the printer is reset to factory mode. 2. 7 3. Click Search LAN for TSP100LAN. 4. Click Change TCP/IP Setting. 11/11, V1.0 Page 7

8 5. Click Login. The default password is public. If the password was changes, enter the latest one. 6. a. Select Used a fixed IP address. b. Enter the appropriate IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway settings. c. Place a check mark next to Perform self-printing after applying settings. This will print a self test confirming the new IP parameters were accepted and stored. d. Click Apply -> Add Printer Queue. Click on Apply. 11/11, V1.0 Page 8

9 7. A configuration page will print from the printer and a window will be displayed so click on OK. 8. Change the Queue Name and set the TSP100Lan as the default printer, if desired. Place a checkmark next to Perform test printing and click Complete. 11/11, V1.0 Page 9

10 9. A windows test page will print out confirming that the TSP100Lan was successfully installed. 10. In Device and Printer, the TSP100Lan will be listed there. 11. Congratulations! You have successfully installed the TSP100LAN with a Static IP Address on Windows. 11/11, V1.0 Page 10

11 III. Ethernet Printer Installation (Dynamic) 1. Determine the printer s IP Address on the network. This can be done by performing a self-test page. Ensure the printer power is off and that it is connected to the network. Press and hold the FEED button in the front while turning the power switch on. 13 5. A window will appear, confirming to using DHCP IP Address so click Yes. 6. Change the Queue Name and set the TSP100Lan as the default printer, if desired. Place a checkmark next to Perform test printing and click Complete. 11/11, V1.0 Page 13

14 7. A windows test page will print out confirming that the TSP100Lan was successfully installed. 8. In Device and Printer, the TSP100Lan will be listed there. 9. Congratulations! You have successfully installed the TSP100LAN with a Dynamic IP Address on Windows. 11/11, V1.0 Page 14
