1 Installing a Star TSP100 USB on Windows OS Application Note Number: 276 Introduction This application note shows how to install a Star TSP100 series USB Printer using the futureprnt Driver/Configuration Utility package. While these instruction were written using the TSP100ECO, this document suffices for the below models. Supported Printers: TSP100ECO, TSP100U, TSP10USB, TSP100GT Supported Interfaces: USB, PoweredUSB Supported Environments: Windows 10 (32/64bit), Windows 8.1 (32/64 bit), Windows 8 (32/64bit), Windows 7 (32/64 bit), and Windows Vista (32/64 bit) Star Tools needed: futureprnt Utility V6.1 or higher (found on Installation Cd of the Star Micronics Website) Table of Contents I. futureprnt Installation.Page 1 II. Ensure the printer is not connected to the computer at this point in time. 2. Insert the CD into the CDROM driver or click AutoRun.exe in the main directory to execute the installer. If the CD was misplaced, the driver can be downloaded for free from the Star Micronics Global Support Site. NOTE: When downloading the driver, please make sure to extract the file before click on Autorun.exe 3. Click Installation. 11/11, V1.0 Page 1

3 6. Enter User Name and Organization and click Next. 7. Select Typical and then click Next. 11/11, V1.0 Page 3

5 10. Click Finish. 11. Click Exit. 12. Congratulations, the futureprnt driver has successful installed, please proceeded to Step II. USB Printer Installation. 11/11, V1.0 Page 5

6 II. USB Printer Installation 1. Connect the TSP100 printer into the computer using the USB cable. The futureprnt should have already been installed at this time. 2. Once connected, a window will appear saying, Installing device. 3. The printer will try to installing by itself. 11/11, V1.0 Page 6

7 4. The printer will be listed in Devices and Printers, proceeded to Step III. Confirming Successful Installation. NOTE: If the Printer is listed under the Unspecified section, proceed to Step On the Devices and Printers screen, right-click anywhere on blank white area and a menu will appear. 8 6. The Device Manager screen will appear. 7. Under Other device the printer will be listed there. Right-click on the printer name and select Update Driver Software. 11/11, V1.0 Page 8

9 8. A new window will appear, so please click on either: A. Search automatically for updated driver software - continue to Step 12. B. Browser my computer for driver software- continue to Step Click Browse 11/11, V1.0 Page 9

10 10. Browse to the TSP100CD or the downloaded file, select Windows folder, then select PrinterDriver and click OK. 11. Click Next. 11/11, V1.0 Page 10

11 12. It will begin installing the driver software. 13. It will confirm that, Windows has successfully updated your driver software then click Close. 11/11, V1.0 Page 11

Open Devices and Printer, then right-click on the TSP100 Cutter

12 14. The printer will be listed in Devices and Printers, proceeded to Step III. Confirming Successful Installation. III. Confirming Successful Installation 1. Open Devices and Printer, then right-click on the TSP100 Cutter (TSP143) and select Printer Properties. 11/11, V1.0 Page 12
