1 Installing a USB or Ethernet TSP800Rx on Windows 7 / Vista / XP Introduction This application note will explains how to install a TSP800IIRx printer with a USB or Ethernet interface. The Secured TSP800Rx printer enables doctors to print thermal prescriptions vs. handwritten prescriptions from a pad avoiding legibility errors. Utilizing specialized and secured thermal prescription paper, the prescriptions are printed using the latest electronic medical record (EMR) software in the industry, resulting in a secured legible script in seconds. No more messy ribbon replacements! The Secured TSP800Rx features simple and easy "Drop-In" secured thermal prescription paper, the sole consumable. The Secured TSP800Rx prints faster than a laser printer, produces output that is clearer than an inkjet printer and is smaller than a shoe box so it is a true space saver. Installing the USB Driver Ensure StarPRNT has already been installed from the Installation CD or Star Micronics Global Support Site. 1. Connect the printer to the computer and turn it on. Windows will detect automatically and will install the driver 02/2012, V1.0 Page 1

2 2. Right click the printer and choose Printer Properties (for Windows 7) or Properties (for XP) 3. Click the Device Settings tab and set the Paper Type to Black Mark then Click Apply 02/2012, V1.0 Page 2

The printer must be connected to the network at this time. 1.

3 II. Installing an Ethernet Printer Ensure StarPRNT has already been installed from the Installation CD or Star Micronics Global Support Site. The printer must be connected to the network at this time. 1. Click Start and navigate > Programs > StarMicronics > Printer Software > Printer Utility 2. Choose TSP800II. 3. Select Star Line Mode and click Next. 02/2012, V1.0 Page 3

4 4. Select Ethernet then click the Search Network button to find the printer. 5. Once discovered, click the Set Printer s IP address button to configure a static IP address. The next steps cover setting up a static IP Address. To use a DHCP address, skip to Step /2012, V1.0 Page 4

5 6. Log in. 7. Click IP Parameters then click Static or Dynamic (DHCP) - Must use an IP address consistent with the network. 8. Alternatively, the same address that was discovered in Step 5 above can be made into a Static IP address. 9. Type the proper subnet mask and default gateway depending on the network then click Submit. 02/2012, V1.0 Page 5

7 17. Search the Network again and the new IP address will be discovered and then click done. 18. Type or accept the connection name for the utility then click OK. 19. A message will pop up showing how to Install the Windows Printer Driver. 02/2012, V1.0 Page 7

8 20. To install the Windows Printer driver click Windows Printer Queue Management. 21. Click Install Driver. 02/2012, V1.0 Page 8

9 22. Click the Add button. 23. Type or accept the name for the Printer utility connection and the name to be displayed in Device and Printers (Windows 7) or Printers and Faxes (XP). 02/2012, V1.0 Page 9

10 24. The Printer Driver name will display. Click properties. 25. Click the Device Settings tab. 26. Set the Paper Type to Black Mark then click Apply. Congratulations!
