3 (1) vendée globe logotype The Vendée Globe logotype is one of the most powerful and most well known symbols. It is intended for use with a wide range media of all types and sizes. Experience has shown that because rules for its use have not been defined, it has often been distorted or misused. It is vital that the central identity of the event stays true to the principles which governed its creation. Likewise it is crucial that all its different elements remain legible: the red sail and its Vendée heart, the name of the race and the town of Sables d Olonne and of course its proportions and colours, etc For the edition the Vendée Globe logotype must always appear in the context of its logo block (see page 9), in other words accompanied by the logo block of its 3 Official Partners (Vendée Regional Council, Sodebo, Sables d Olonne). Nevertheless, in certain cases it is permissible to separate the logotype from its partners block, which will appear separately. Only the following instances are allowed: On official material for the race, issued by SAEM Vendée or by the Vendée Regional Council On textile products manufactured by the Vendée Globe brand licensee and any of their sub-licensees On small promotional items (e.g. pens)
4 (2) vendée globe logotype a) Rules for use The logotype exists in 3 versions: one version for light backgrounds, one version for darker backgrounds and a final one for red backgrounds. b) Colours The Vendée Globe» logotype will be mainly used in colours on a white background. 5 Monochrome version On some medias where the number of colours is necessarily limited, particularly in textile marking, the logotype can be used in a monochrome version. It must be used in black, white or in one of the colours of the official logo. Examples of marking possible On coloured fabrics where marking is only possible in 1 colour, the white or black logo should be chosen. On white or light coloured fabrics where marking is only possible in 1 colour, the logo can be used in black, blue or red. (1) vendée globe logotype 5
6 c) Protected space and minimum size A clear space is left around the logotype in order to guarantee its integrity and legibility. The protected space is the same height as the characters of «Vendée Globe 25 mm In order to guarantee that the logotype is easily legible, it should have a minimum width of 25 mm. 6 (1) vendée globe logotype
7 d) Restrictions Here is a non-exhaustive list of restrictions. The colour of the typography should never be altered. The logo may not appear without the text «Sables d Olonne The logo may not be deconstructed Complex backgrounds should be avoided. Make sure that the logotype is easily legible against a coloured background. Use the version for darker backgrounds, if necessary. The protected space must be observed on all types of documents. The typography of the logotype may not be altered. The positioning of the texts «Vendée Globe and «Les Sables d Olonne may not be altered. The shape of the sail may not be resized or distorted. 8 (2) logoblocks The Vendée Globe logo block links its logo to its 3 Official Sponsors who gave it a new lease of life on its 5th edition, when SAEM Vendée was created by the Vendée Regional Council with all its other shareholders to take up the helm again for a race that was already 15 years old. This association appears almost automatically on all official material for the event.
9 (2) logoblocks a) Rules for use The alignments for the logo block are accurately specified in order to guarantee good legibility for all of its partners logos. Spacings must be observed on all types of media. The logo block is the preferred logotype for use on all publicity material for the Vendée Globe which do not include the graphic of the official 2012 poster. For media using the official 2012 graphic, the «sponsors block opposite will be used. (2) logo-blocks 9

13 d) Restrictions Here is a non-exhaustive list of restrictions. The separating rule for the logo block is grey, it may not be altered or removed. The logo block background colour may not be altered. Partners logos may not be resized. The positioning and spacing of partners logos may not be altered. The shape of the logo block may not be altered, it must retain its rounded corner. The logo block s protected space must be observed on all types of media. (2) logo-blocks 13
14 (3) sponsors logo blocks SAEM Vendée has created a logo block for the use of its partners and competitors in the race. This new visual element coincides with the arrival of three new categories of partners (Official Partners, Official Suppliers, Official Service providers). These partners can therefore use a specific logo block which allows them to display their commitment to the Vendée Globe and to differentiate themselves from other brands.
15 (3) sponsors logo blocks a) Rules for incorporating the logo The official sponsors of the Vendée Globe can use the «sponsor logo block» which applies to them in their publicity material. 8 categories have been defined: official sponsors, official partners, official service providers, official suppliers, race competitors, village, official clothing and official vehicles. 16 Each «sponsor logo block» has been produced in a second version with a light separating rule, to guarantee that it is easily legible, even when used with a background with a colour similar to the inset. «Official Sponsor» sponsor logo block The sponsor logo block will be used with a separating rule on a red background «Official Partner sponsor logo block The sponsor logo block will be used with a separating rule on a blue background «Official Supplier» sponsor logo block The sponsor logo block will be used with a separating rule on a white background On a coloured background, the separating rule is not needed. «Official Service Provider sponsor logo block The sponsor logo block will be used with a separating rule on a grey background 16 (3) sponsors logo blocks
