3 Introducton What s Curo? Curo provdes an nnovatve, freeform, notebook-lke envronment wth all the ntegrated tools you need to take notes, branstorm deas, collect research, and organze your tasks and documents. Curo emphaszes a concept called vsual thnkng where you can ntutvely gather, assocate, and recall all your nformaton naturally and vsually. Curo provdes all of ths wthn a sngle applcaton so you can be more productve, more creatve, and focus on gettng thngs done.

7 Interface Tour The core components of Curo s nterface Organzer Your Curo project can contan hundreds of dea spaces and documents all neatly organzed here n the Organzer. Idea Space What you re lookng at s an dea space, Curo s freeform notebook page. Everythng you fnd on an dea space s a fgure of some type. A fgure can be text, an mage, a PDF or Pages fle, a lve WebVew, or even a move. It could also be a type of fgure we call a collecton fgure such as a lst or mnd map. These are fgures that contan and lay out other fgures wthn tself. The Shelf You can t see t now but there s a handy utlty Shelf avalable here. Take a quck peek by clckng the Inspector toolbar button. We ll dscuss the Shelf n detal later so clck the Inspector toolbar button agan to hde t for now.

8 Quck Tps Some helpful tps to use wthn Curo Quck Zoom Press and hold the q key to quckly zoom out and see the entre dea space. Hover you mouse ponter over a partcular area and when you release the q key your vew wll be restored centered n that area. Rght Clck Curo uses context menus throughout the nterface so be sure to rght-clck on fgures, dea spaces, tems n the shelf, the varous galleres, and much more to see what quck optons you have avalable to you. Fnd Press F to brng up the search shelf f you need to fnd a fgure on an dea space. Press t agan to cancel the search and close the search shelf. Escape The Escape key s used for many thngs wthn Curo. Tap t to end text fgure edtng, to dsmss an nspector popover, to select a collecton fgure f an tem wthn s selected. Navgaton The top rght corner of the nspector bar, just under the toolbar, shows a small navgaton bar you can use to navgate wthn the project. The two small up and down arrows go to the prevous or next dea space n the Organzer and have the and keyboard shortcuts. The two small left and rght arrows go backwards and forwards n hstory, lke n your browser, and have the and keyboard shortcuts.

9 Idea Spaces Addng pages to your project notebook See the Add button up there n the toolbar? That s what you ll use to add an dea space to your project. Clck the Add button and a popup wll appear showng the varous optons. You mght want a completely blank dea space, or one that s based on the same style or template as the current dea space. You can also pck the gallery vew whch shows off all the styles and templates that come bundled wth Curo. Eventually you ll create your own and even share wth others. Keyboard Shortcuts Hold the Opton key when clckng Add to add a blank dea space. Hold the Shft key when clckng Add to add a new dea space whch matches the same style or template as the current dea space.

10 The Organzer More than your notebook s table of contents Orderng Wthn the Organzer, smply drag-and-drop dea spaces to change ther orderng. Unlmted Herarchy You can create a parent-chld relatonshp ether wth the Tab and Shft-Tab keys or by draggng so tems are herarchcally under a parent dea space. Ths nested herarchy s unlmted so those chldren can have chldren of ther own, etc. Optons Galore Rght-clck on an dea space to delete an tem, change ts color label, set prevew szes, sort tems, apply styles, create templates, export and prnt, plus much more. Flter Clck the lttle magnfyng glass n the Organzer s header area at the top to see the Organzer s flter vew appear. Here you can flter the contents of the Organzer based on the ttle, or by date, label, or assgned tag.

11 Project Sectons Organzng larger projects STANDARD PRO Whle you can ndent or outdent Organzer tems nto a herarchcal order, as descrbed above, Curo also provdes two more advanced methods for groupng: sectons and folders. Frst, we ll dscuss sectons. What s a Secton? To reflect a real-world metaphor, f a Curo project s a bnder, then a Curo secton s a tabbed secton wthn that bnder. However, unlke a real-world secton, a Curo secton can be arranged nto a lmtless herarchy. For example, let s say you have a Curo project called Bology for a class n college. You could create the followng sectons the sectons lsted on the rght to help organze your project. Bology Sectons! Classes! Labs! Papers For a more complex example, let s say you are a product manager n charge of Super Product. You could create the followng secton herarchy to organze your project: An mportant pont to consder s that you can t prnt or export multple sectons smultaneously. A secton really s lke a mnproject wthn your overall project. You wll see the secton name n several places wthn Curo such as the ttle bar, the Status shelf task lst, and the Search shelf s result lst. Workng wth sectons lsted n the Organzer s just lke workng wth other Organzer tems. Thus renamng, deletng, rearrangng, ndentng, etc, are managed n the same way. Super Product Sectons! 12 Styles and Templates Defne the look or create a bolerplate As you notced n the Add button s gallery, and the Organzer s rght-clck context menu, Curo supports reusable dea space styles and templates. What s the dfference? Styles A style defnes the look of the dea space wth no ncluded content. You can apply a bundle, personal, or shared style to an exstng dea space or when creatng a new dea space. When you create custom styles they go nto your personal repostory so you can use them n other projects, as well. Changng a style and re-savng t to your personal repostory does not change the look of any dea spaces you created wth that style n the past. Templates [STANDARD] [PRO] A template defnes the look and ncludes bolerplate fgures and other content to help you get started. A template can be used only when you frst create an dea space, you can t apply a template to an exstng dea space. Custom templates also go nto your personal repostory for use n other projects. And, lke styles, you can edt and re-save a template but that doesn t mpact exstng templates n any of your projects. Master Styles [PRO] A master style s lke a normal style but prvate to a specfc project and can support dynamcally updatng all uses of the style throughout a project! Change the master style s background colorng, and nstantly all dea spaces that use that style throughout the project are updated wth the change. Master Templates [PRO] Lkewse master templates are lke normal templates but prvate to a project and can therefore support dynamc updatng throughout a project. These can be extremely handy when workng on large projects. For nstance, ths Welcome to Curo project s based on a handful of master templates, so ts very easy to change the look and layout of the entre project.

13 Organzer Documents Usng the Organzer as a document bnder As you may have notced n that Add popup, the Organzer also permts rch text documents, as well. In addton, you can actually drag n any sort of document from the Fnder or even web lnks from your browser, to the Organzer. For Organzer text fles, Curo can permt edtng. For PDF fles, Curo supports annotatng. For web lnks, you can surf wthn Curo. However other fle types, such as Numbers and Pages fles, can only be prevewed from wthn Curo. We actually use the Mac s Quck Look system to render the prevew so t should support many popular document formats. Note that the Organzer s smply actng as a bnder to collect these documents n your project. These tems are not prnted, exported, or publshed wth your project s dea spaces. However, you can double-clck or rght-clck on the document tem n the Organzer to open, prnt, or reveal the fle n the Fnder usng the context menu.

14 Idea Space Propertes Workng wth the nspector shelf Clck the Inspector button on the toolbar to show the nspector shelf. The nspector shows you the propertes of whatever s selected. Clck on the background of ths dea space to the rght of ths arrow (to make sure no fgures are selected) and the nspector wll show the dea space s propertes. At the top of the nspector you ll fnd several bundled styles you can choose. Go ahead and try them out! Or you can customze ts look usng the color and mage controls. You can also enable grd snappng and change the dmensons of the dea space usng the nspector. Clck the Inspector button on the toolbar agan to hde the shelf.

15 Fgures Everythng (on an dea space) s a fgure What s a Fgure? In Curo, everythng on an dea space s a fgure: text, lnes, mages, documents, Mal messages, vdeos, and even mages and text dragged n from your browser. Here s a nce, styled text fgure. Selectng Fgures Wth the Select tool actve, you smply clck a fgure to select t, or drag out a selecton rectangle on the background of the dea space to select several tems. Movng Drag the fgures around wth the mouse or the arrow keys on your keyboard. Zengob An embedded TextEdt fle Meet Peanut! Watch how the arrow stcks by draggng her photo around. Even reszng and rotatng can t break the connecton. Reszng and Rotatng You can resze a selected fgure usng the selecton handles on the sdes of the fgure. If you hold down Command the handles can be used to rotate the fgure. Deletng Press the Delete key to remove a fgure from your dea space.

16 Insertng Fgures Fgures? Curo s got fgures! Clck the Insert button on the toolbar and see what Curo has to offer. Curo supports lots of dfferent types of fgures: Dozens of geometrc shapes, Text, Lnes, Images, PDF documents, Moves, Musc and sound fles, Web lnks, Web Vews ncludng Google Docs vews, YouTube and Vmeo embedded vews, Documents, Lsts, Mnd maps, Tables, Index cards, Pnboards, Albums, Stacks, Screen capture, Integrated vdeo and audo recordng, Bggerplate mnd maps, Plus more! Keyboard Shortcuts As a shortcut, you can just press on the keyboard to brng up the Insert popup, then press the frst letter of the gallery you wsh to vew. Customze the Toolbar If you use a certan fgure type frequently, such as mnd map, rghtclck on the toolbar and add fgurespecfc buttons to your toolbar.

18 Text Fgures The most basc yet most mportant fgure It s pretty safe to say that every Curo project wll have at least one text fgure. You ll use these fgures to make notes, create lsts, and much, much more. Let s create your frst text fgure. Just doubleclck n the area below and start typng. Press the Escape key when you re done. Creatng and edtng text fgures!!! Double-clck on the dea space background. Ths wll create a text fgure that wll automatcally grow n wdth and heght. Alternatvely you can double-clck and, whle the mouse s stll pressed, mmedately drag to defne a specfc wdth that the text wll wrap to. Press the Escape key when you re done typng. If you want to edt the text fgure agan just doubleclck on t. The Text Drawng Tool Alternatvely you can clck the text drawng tool n the toolbar and then sngle-clck onto the dea space or nto an exstng text fgure.

19 Attachng a Fle Easly assocate a fle wth a text fgure Whle you can drag any fle nto Curo drectly to the dea space and create a fle asset fgure, you can also assocate a fle wth a text fgure as a fle attachment. An ordnary text fgure wth an attachment coped from the project s Lbrary Addng an Attachment Rght-clck on a text fgure and choose Attach Fle then choose a fle from anywhere on your hard dsk. Ths fle can be coped or moved nto the project as an embedded asset or referenced as an alas. Or, copy an exstng asset fgure or asset wthn your project and choose Paste As > Attachment For Selected Text Fgure. Here the attachment wll smply reference the same underlyng asset. The resultng attachment wll be dsplayed as a prevew mage, f the fle s an mage, else a thumbnal con for all other fle types. The sze of the mage or con s controlled usng the Icon Sze slder n the shape nspector. As wth prevew captons, the attachment s an actual component of the text fgure, not a trck usng a grouped fgure. Ths feature s partcularly useful n mnd maps where an attachment can be assocated wth an exstng node n the mnd map nstead of added as a separate chld node. Removng an Attachment To remove the attachment, rght-clck and choose Remove Attachment.

20 Fgure Propertes Introducng the nspector shelf Now let s show you how to change a fgure s propertes. You can do ths wth Curo s nspector bar (located rght under the toolbar) or the nspector shelf. Let s use the shelf for now. Clck the Inspector toolbar button to reveal the nspector shelf. Next clck on ths text fgure and we ll change ts propertes. Clck on ths fgure to select t and change ts propertes! Exercses 1. Let s do somethng smple. Frst, wth the text fgure on the left selected, use the text area of the nspector to change the font sze from 21 pont to Now go to the stroke area n the nspector and clck on the shape color control to gve the fgure a border. Scroll down a bt n the nspector and you ll fnd optons for fll colors and gradents and much more. You can even clck on a predefned style at the very top to set lots of optons all at once. Eventually you ll create and share your own styles!

21 Inspector Bar Another way to change propertes You ve been workng wth the nspector shelf but now let s try somethng dfferent. If the nspector shelf s stll open go ahead and close t by clckng the Inspector toolbar button. Inspector Bar Curo also supports popup nspectors va the nspector bar whch s located rght under the toolbar. As an example, select ths text fgure then clck the shape button on the nspector bar to see ts popup appear. It looks lke a gray rectangle next to a tag con. Usng the nspector bar s handy f you d lke to maxmze your screen real estate and just need the occasonal use of an nspector panel. Clckng the shape nspector bar button agan or pressng the Escape key wll hde the popup. Detachable Popovers! You can also tear off the nspector popup by draggng on ts background. The result s a free-floatng wndow you can place anywhere on your screen or even a secondary screen.

22 Asset Fgures Add assets to your project notebook Any type of fle can be dragged nto a Curo dea space where they can be dsplayed ether as smple fgures wth con and ttle, or as prevew mage fgures where a Quck Look prevew of the fle s dsplayed. From the Fnder When draggng n a fle from the Fnder, a copy of the fle wll be embedded n your project. Alternatvely, f you hold the Command key whle draggng n a fle then the orgnal wll be moved nto your project. If you hold the Opton key then an alas to the orgnal wll be created (make sure to begn draggng frst then press and hold the Opton key, otherwse the Fnder may hde the actve applcaton). Some fles, such as csv, opml, and many popular mnd map fle formats can be converted drectly nto natve Curo tables, lsts, or mnd maps. From the Web Drag n selected text and/or mages drectly to your dea space. Curo wll automatcally nclude an attrbuton lne to any dragged-n text so you can jump to the source; rght-clck on mages to jump to ther source URL as well. From Mal Mal messages can be dragged nto Curo where a copy of the message tself wll embedded nto your project. Double-clckng t wll render the message, and decode any message attachments, n your default mal applcaton.

23 Basc Shapes Shapes for flowchartng or other creatve uses If you want to draw some basc geometrc shape fgures you have some optons. Shapes va the Insert Popover You can clck the Insert toolbar button and then choose one of the many shapes n the Basc Shape gallery. The selected shape wll be placed on your dea space for postonng. Shapes va the Shapes Drawng Tool Alternatvely, you can clck the shape n the toolbar s drawng tools. If you hold down the mouse button when clckng you can choose a specfc shape. Then clck and drag on the dea space to draw out the shape wth a specfc sze. Addng Text Double-clck a geometrc shape to add text to t.

24 Shape Corners Sneaky extra shapes! Many shapes can be customzed by usng the Corners slder whch can be tweaked usng the Shape nspector or the new, ncredbly handy { and } keyboard shortcuts. Left Sgnpost and Rght Sgnpost The Left Sgnpost and Rght Sgnpost shapes are specal and actually contan 4 dfferent shapes (each) dependng on the Corner value. Here s the Left and Rght Sgnpost morphng between ther 4 shapes based on ncreasng Corner value. Underlne The Underlne shape s also specal and contans 10 dfferent shapes dependng on the Corner value, as shown below. 25 Geometry The shape of your shape Let s start by selectng ths fgure then clck the Inspector toolbar button, then clck the Geometry tab on the far rght. At the top you see the x and y locaton of ths fgure, along wth ts wdth and heght. The proportonal checkbox s automatcally checked for mages whch means when you resze an mage the wdth and heght keep the same proportonals. The natural sze (shortcut s to just tap the n key) wll restore a text or mage fgure to ts natural sze nstead of wrappng text or manually szng an mage to a dfferent sze. You can rotate the selected fgure here or hold whle draggng on the fgure s resze handles. Usng the red struts and green sprngs wthn the layout control you can determne how the fgure wll move or resze wth the dea space. You can stck a fgure to the top rght corner of the dea space or have t centered at the bottom, reszng and repostonng as the dea space szes. The dstrbuton controls can be used to move the fgure from back to front, flp an mage upsde down, algn edges, or dstrbute across an dea space.

26 Image Fgures Yep, more Peanut pctures! Drag n an mage fle from the Fnder or a browser and, by default, t s dsplayed as a prevew whch can be easly reszed and rotated. Rght-clck on the mage and apply a cool style or make your own! Va the rght-clck menu, or the shape nspector, you can add a capton to the prevew, or elect to dsplay t as an con nstead. Curo has lots of optons! Peanut A dfferent type of capton s under ths mage. Note that only one Peanut mage fle s n the project s asset lbrary. These are all dfferent nstances of the same underlyng asset fle! Here s a capton for Peanut! Peanut The nspector was used to gve the mage ts own clppng mask, and make t so the capton was dsplayed outsde the mage s border.

27 PDF Fgures A specal knd of mage If you drag n a PDF fle, ether to the Organzer or to the dea space, the nspector bar changes to permt navgaton and smple annotatons. Annotatons To make annotatons to the PDF, clck the Start Annotatng button n the nspector bar or hold Opton and double-clck the fgure. Then select text n the PDF and clck the new hghlght, strkethrough, and underlne buttons. These annotatons are stored wthn the PDF document tself and vsble n other apps such as Prevew. When done, clck the Stop Annotatng button or press Escape. Quck Look and Openng Lke other asset fgures, you can press spacebar to vew a Quck Look of the PDF fgure, or double-clck to launch t nto Prevew. Image Styles As an mage fgure, you can apply all the avalable mage styles to your PDF.

28 Spread PDF Perfect for takng notes n class STANDARD PRO Curo Standard and Professonal have a slck way to spread the pages of a PDF across an dea space then across multple dea spaces as necessary. Ths s perfect We ll demonstrate here wth a quck example. On the next dea space you ll fnd a PDF that we dragged nto Curo, then we placed a text fgure alongsde for note-takng. Here s what you ll need to do: Spread PDF on a Sngle Idea Space Go to the next dea space whch s called Notes. Select both the PDF and the text fgure you fnd there. Rght-clck and choose Sngle Page Spread PDF. In the dalog that appears enter a 2 for the number of pages and press the Spread PDF button. Curo wll create copes of the PDF and text fgure and spread them down the dea space wth each PDF fgure showng the next subsequent page. In the end you should see page 1, page 2, and page 3 of the PDF, each wth a handy text feld alongsde for notes. Ths s fne for short PDF s, and s lmted to just 20 pages max, but what about longer PDF documents? Curo can contnue the spread across other dea spaces! Spread PDF across Multple Idea Spaces Next, n the Organzer, rght-clck on that Notes dea space and choose Spread PDF. Curo wll create copes of the orgnal Notes dea space and tweak each PDF fgure to show the next approprate page n the sequence. In the end you ll have 3 Notes dea spaces, each showng the next 3 pages of the PDF. One Underlyng PDF Fle Recall, back wth all of those Peanut puppy pctures, that each duplcate mage fgure refers to the same underlyng mage fle. So there s only one Peanut n the project s asset lbrary. Lkewse, all of these Spread PDF-generated fgures pont to the same PDF fle whch means annotatons you make to the PDF all resde n that one fle, as well.

The same context menu can be used to change a multpont lne so t s curved or orthogonal. You can also draw a lne and then hold down the Opton key before releasng. You can then clck to create as many mdponts as you want. Before your last clck release the Opton key and then clck to create your last endpont. Stcky Normally lnes n Curo are stcky so they connect towards the center of a fgure, or to a specfc connecton pont around the edge of a fgure, or to the closest connecton pont, or to a specfc pont wthn the fgure. You can enable or dsable stcky lnes va the Arrange > Stcky Lnes menu tem. Lnes are comng out of the center of ths tem. Lnes can stck to a specfc connecton pont whch won't change even f you move or rotate ths fgure. Ths s actually a sngle lne stckng from here to here. If you hold Command down whle postonng and endpont t can stck to a specfc pont wthn a fgure, lke drectly to Peanut's ear. Try movng, rotatng, or reszng Peanut's mage. A freeform dea graph s just the tcket! You can also nsert a Google Doc web vew specfcally f you wsh. Actvatng a Web Vew Double-clckng a web vew actvates t and begns the web browsng sesson wthn the web vew fgure. The nspector bar changes to show you typcal browser controls. Stop Browsng Clck the Stop Browsng button n the nspector bar to end the browsng sesson. Interactve Notebooks Popular browser-based nteractve notebooks created usng servces such as Dstll, Observable, Jupyter, and Colaboratory can be embedded n your Curo project as web vew fgures. 33 YouTube and Vmeo Add external, web-based vdeos The easest way to nsert a vdeo from YouTube or Vmeo s to smply drag the vdeo URL from your browser drectly to an dea space. Curo wll create a reszable, vdeo fgure confgured for playback. Alternatvely, you can use the Insert button on the toolbar and choose ether a YouTube Vdeo or Vmeo Vdeo. Then paste n the URL to the vdeo. Ths should be the URL to the vdeo, not the embed code. Sleuth and Sleuth Shelf If you have Curo Standard or Professonal you can use Curo s ntegrated Sleuth and Sleuth shelf to easly search YouTube or Vmeo for vdeos and smply drag-and-drop results to your dea space.

34 Multmeda Fles Play back audo and vdeo wthn Curo Clck on the vdeo fle below and notce a specal meda bar appears on the far rght sde of the nspector bar to help you wth playback. Controls wthn the meda bar allow you to fast forward and rewnd 5 seconds at a tme, hold Opton when clckng to go 1 mnute, hold Command to jump to the end or begnnng. Or use the scrubber when playng to go to a specfc locaton. The meda bar actons button allows you to control loopng, specfy a new start tme, stop tme, and poster frame, or copy the current frame as an mage.

35 Audo Vdeo Recordngs Make recordngs drectly wthn Curo Startng a Recordng Use the Insert button on the toolbar and choose ether an Audo Recordng or Vdeo Recordng. You wll then be able to choose nput devces and check levels. Clckng the Insert button wll begn the recordng. Whle Recordng When makng a vdeo recordng a tny Prevew Montor wndow appears so you can see what the camera sees. Whle recordng you can go anywhere else n your project and contnue to take notes. Note that f you close the project the recordng wll stop. To Stop Recordng Use the Meda Bar at the top of the wndow to stop your recordng.

36 Insertng Space Here s somethng a real notebook can t do Generally an dea space wll automatcally grow n heght and wdth as fgures approach the edge. However, there are tmes you want to add space manually. Addng Space to the Bottom or to the Rght of the Idea Space If no fgures are selected then the Insert menu shows tems for nsertng blank space on the bottom or rght sde of the dea space. Addng Space Below or to the Rght of Selected Fgures If one or more fgures are selected then the Insert menu tems wll change to show space wll be added below or to the rght of the selected fgures. Addng Space Drectly Below or to the Rght of Selected Fgures If one or more fgures are selected and the Shft key s held down then the Insert menu wll change to show that only the area drectly underneath or to the rght of the fgures wll move. Select ths and press So wll ths. Ths wll move snce t s drectly under t. Ths won t move. Nether wll ths. But f you had pressed then these would have moved as well. So undo the nsert space and try the same thng wthout the Shft key pressed.

Pretty smple, rght?! Now let s kck t up a bt. Introducng collecton fgures. What s a Collecton Fgure? A collecton fgure s a contaner of other fgures and manages the layout of those contaned fgures. Examples nclude lst and mnd map collectons, but Curo has much more. A collecton fgure can contan any sort of fgure text, mages, fles, web vews, PDF s, etc but cannot contan another collecton (e.g. a lst can t contan a mnd map). Let s begn the tour of Curo s collecton fgures.

38 Lsts Task lsts, herarchcal to-dos, and much more Makng to-do lsts and outlnng deas s a natural part of branstormng. Curo s lst collecton fgure makes t a breeze to generate lsts and outlnes of any knd rght on an dea space. And Curo s lsts can contan more than just text; you can add mages, documents, moves, sound clps, and any other type of fgure that Curo supports. Plus meta attrbutes lke checkboxes, tags, percent complete, and more. Here s a default lst 1. The default style s a numbered lst, although you can change ths n the lst nspector to show more advanced numberng styles or bullet lsts. 2. But ths lst looks a bt drab. Select ths lst fgure and use the style gallery n the nspector shelf, or clck the style button on the far left sde of the nspector bar, clck through the varous styles. 3. Next, let s add a new lst tem. 4. Clck on ths tem here to select t then press the Command-Return keyboard shortcut, or choose the Insert > Next Text Sblng menu tem. 5. If you followed the prevous step you should have nserted a text fgure before ths tem. Well done! Type n some text for that tem then press Escape to stop edtng. 6. Now let s add a chld to turn ths nto a herarchcal lst. Select ths tem and press Opton-Command-Return, or choose the Insert > Text Chld menu tem. 7. That s t for ths quck tour! For example, Curo ncludes a very popular Creatve Bref dosser wth all the questons you should ask your clent before startng a desgn job. Lkewse the Essay dosser wll help you begn wrtng a college essay. Try t out: Clck the Insert toolbar button, choose Lsts, then look n the Bundled stencls and you ll see a groupng called Dossers whch ncludes several useful lsts to get you gong. 40 Mnd Maps The ultmate branstormng tool Mnd maps are an ncredbly popular way to take notes, branstorm wth word assocatons, analyze a topc, or manage a complete herarchy of tasks. Curo ncludes an ncredbly powerful, ntegrated mnd mapper wth full support for advanced features such as automatc date and percentage complete calculatons. Currently the mnd map below s usng a radal arrangement. Ether use the nspector or rght-clck on t and change the arrangement to other optons such as rght map, left map, top-down map, bottom-up map, or org chart. Note you can also change the lne style from straght to curvy or elbowed. In general, you want to have only a few man branches under the central topc. If you have over a dozen man branches then consoldatng them nto 4 to 10 branches would make the resultng mnd map much more readable and organzed and allow Curo to optmze the mnd map s layout. Create a sblng just lke we dd wth lsts. Select ths fgure and press Command-Return. I m a chld! Me too Lkewse to create a chld node select ths fgure and press Opton- Command-Return. 42 Index Cards The orgnal note organzaton devce Curo s ndex cards are a fantastc new way to create snppets of deas, thoughts, and notes. You can even place mages and other asset fgures on an ndex card. Note that an ndex card s reszable but not scrollable. Ths means any text that grows past ts bounds wll be automatcally clpped when t's not beng edted. Ths was done on purpose n the desgn of the ndex card feature. The strength of the real-world ndex card s ts statc sze, n contrast to a multpage notebook. It forces you to make bref notes and thnk concsely, then to revew and arrange your thoughts wth the resultng stack of cards. Basc Index Card Yes, ths s a bt borng but you certanly know what t s an ndex card! Lnes? Yes, lnes are optonal. Text s even optonal! Just copy an mage from elsewhere and paste t nto the body and you ll have an mage notecard. An Image Notecard Attached Cards By the way, these connected cards were created as connected fgures. If an ndex card s selected and you hold Command and clck anywhere on the dea space then another ndex card wth the same style wll be created along wth a lne connectng them. Neat huh? Expand / Collapse Select an ndex card and press Spacebar to nstantly collapse or expand the fgure. Export When you select multple fgures on an dea space and export them as text, va the Share toolbar button, Curo wll go through the fgures n left to rght, top to bottom order. Ths makes t very easy to export the text from several ndex cards placed around an dea space for use n another program such as a word processng app. Quck Spn If you have a stack of ndex cards then ths tp may be of use. Curo allows you to quckly flp through an overlappng stack of fgures, such as ndex cards, arranged on the dea space. Hold the Opton key down and use your mouse scroll wheel or scroll on your trackpad to quckly scan through the stack of fgures under the mouse ponter. Note the fgures don t even have to be selected beforehand.

43 Albums Show off mages or documents An album s a great way to create a flexble collecton of fgures, such as mages or other assets. Wth the prevew capton feature your mages can have notes and other annotatons drectly under the mage or prevew. An album lays out all contaned tems n fxed-wdth columns. Unlke a table whch has fxed-heght rows, albums smply stack tems wthn the columns based on the heght of each tem. The number of columns s based on the overall wdth of the album collecton fgure. As you resze the album fgure, the number of columns wll be dynamcally change and tems wll wrap accordngly. Rearrange or add new tems easly va drag and drop. You can place tems anywhere wthn the collecton and the collecton tself wll automatcally grow, f necessary, to handle dropped or pasted fgures. It's almost lke a free-floatng mn dea space n terms of flexblty. And t's more flexble than a group fgure snce you can move and resze the contaned fgures freely and the collecton wll smply resze to hold the new tems.
