7 Installaton 7. Installng on computer Informaton! It s possble to do a slent nstallaton of cablabel S drectly n command lne. 7. Installaton parameters. Insert the delvered CD-Rom n your computer, the nstallaton should start automatcally. If the autorun does not start or f you have downloaded the nstallaton fle, double-clck on the fle «cablabels Setup.exe» to begn the nstallaton (where matches your verson). 9 Installaton 9 Select the addtonal tasks to be done by the nstallaton program and check the selected optons summary. Clck on Install. Program startng After nstallng cablabel S, an con of the program s placed on the user desktop and/or n the start menu (dependng on selected nstallaton optons). Start the program by double clckng on one of these cons.

10 0 Installaton 0. Actvaton! Dependng on the nstalled verson, an actvaton s needed before you can use the program. Attenton! Except the Lte verson, the program cannot be used wthout beng actvated. 11 Installaton.. Onlne actvaton Fgure Onlne actvaton Enter product key provded wth your purchase. Clck on the Actvate button. The software wll be automatcally actvated after some seconds through nternet. Notce! An nternet access s requred for onlne actvaton. Otherwse you wll have to use the fle actvaton... Fle actvaton Fgure Fle actvaton If you don't have an nternet access or f onlne actvaton dd not work, t s possble to use ths alternate method. An actvaton request wll be sent after a few steps. In ths case, after enterng your product key by clckng on the Request button an emal wll be prepared for sendng to our actvaton servce. The actvaton fle wll be returned to you by emal once generated. Ths fle must be transferred to the computer where cablabel S s nstalled. Select the receved actvaton fle wth the suted button. Clck on the Actvate button. After actvaton, the software wll restart automatcally.

If you use pre-prnted labels, ths background pcture can for example dsplay your pre-prnted label. 18 8 Overvew 8..0 Layers Layers contan all dfferent objects composng a label. Each layer can be hde or locked. Each object on the layer can also be ndvdually hde or locked n order to prevent movng. A layer can also be assgned to a pre-defned prntng resoluton. For example one layer for a 00 dp resoluton.. Add a new layer Delete selected layer. Expand / Collapse all layers. Pn layers wndow 5. Layer objects assgned to a specfc resoluton, wll only be prnted on devces supportng the same resoluton. For example objects from a 00 dp layer, wll not be prnted on a 00 or 600 dp devce. Ths can be useful to dsplay the real sze of a barcode.

23 Confguraton Color management Notce! Pcture splt color settngs are only used when prntng on a two color prnter. When prntng on a two color prnter (XC...), you can specfy the secondary color to prnt. For ths you can select a color from the lst or pck t drectly on the screen or n your label usng the eyedropper tool. The objects defned wth ths color wll then automatcally send to the secondary color prnthead. Dfferent settngs to adjust the tolerance of ths color are also avalable. The gamma correcton allows you to change the renderng of the lghtest colors. Colors auto levels redefnes the color scale by applyng the lghtest pxel to the whte color and the darkest one to the black color. 5. Show / hde the help panel. Pcture splt color. 24 Confguraton. Devces! All cab devces drvers are buld-n n cablabel S. Devces are nstalled n the man applcaton and ther prnt settngs wll be saved n the document after the frst prntng. Attenton! Unlke other labellng software, n cablabel S the label s created regardless of the devce or resoluton. The label can then be prnted on any devce. So, there s no default or actve devce... Add a devce To add a new devce clck on the Confgure prnters lst button n the general rbbon or clck on the Prnters tab on the welcome page. Select the devce type () and devce model () to nstall from the rght lst. Double-clck on selected model () or clck on Install selected devce button () to nstall t. It wll be added on the left n the nstalled devces (). Valdate wth the OK button (5). 6! Attenton! Wth cablabel S Pro, t s possble to use any other non natve devce (6), provded that t s detected and nstalled as a prnter on Wndows. However, standalone mode and "Replace" cannot be used on these devces, and the data ntegrty s not guaranteed on the prntout. Fgure 7 Devces lst 5 After addng a devce, the port selecton wndow opens automatcally. Select port type () and port settngs (). Notce! The avalable port types depend on the selected devce. 25 Confguraton 5.. Delete a devce Select devce model to delete n the nstalled devces lst on the left. Rght-clck on t and select the Remove devce command... Rename a devce Each devce s nstalled wth a default name. To change ths name: Select devce model n the nstalled devces lst on the left. Rght-clck on t and select the Rename devce command. Enter new name... Confgure a devce To confgure a devce : Select the devce to confgure n the nstalled devces lst on the left. Double-clck on ths devce or rght-clck and select Confgure devce. Change the wshed settngs. Valdate wth the OK button. Notce! A non natve devce can be confgured n the same way from cablabel S Pro, wth the help of the Wndows drver provded wth ths one. 26 6 Confguraton 6..5 Devce optons To add a devce opton : Select the devce to confgure n the nstalled devces lst on the left. Double-clck on ths devce or rght-clck and select Confgure devce. Go to Optons tab. Select connected opton n the lst. Change the wshed settngs. Valdate wth the OK button. Fgure 0 Devce optons..6 System devces / Document devces When a document s prnted, system devces settngs are automatcally coped nto t. By next prntng these document settngs are automatcally recalled. Fgure System / document devces lst! Notce! The System devces tab s only dsplayed n Expert mode. By default t s the Document devces tab whch s dsplayed. Attenton! An already prnted document wll use the devce settngs saved nto t. To change these settngs, you have to change them n the devce settngs of ths document and not n the system settngs.

27 5 Use 7 5. New label creaton There are possbltes to create a new label on the welcome page. Fgure Welcome page 5.. New blank label Clck on the New label button to start the wzard. Set the nformatons of your label and ts layout. Clck on the Next button.! Attenton! Label wdth always correspond to the prntng wdth, regardless to ts orentaton. Notce! The layout country of label defnes the format of date on prntout. Fgure Label Creator Wzard

28 8 5 Use New label usng the wzard The Label Creator Wzard allows you, for example, to create your label from a pre-defned format among many exstng references. You can choose to keep ts content or only the label format. Fgure 6 Duplcate a label 5. Insertng objects n the document Notce! Dfferent settngs are avalable for the objects. They are descrbed n the help panel on the rght, whch s hdden by default. You can dsplay ths panel by clckng on the "" con () at the top rght of the object propertes wndow. Fgure 7 Show / Hde help

29 5 Use Insertng texts To nsert a text: Select the Text object n the toolbar.. Drawng toolbar Clck somewhere n the label where you want to nsert the object Enter the wshed text n the edt feld () Select the dfferent optons related to the text () such as font, sze... Valdate by clckng on the OK button (9) Notce! Move the mouse over the kernng (5) and the text (6) to get some vsual nformaton about the font propertes. 5! Attenton! If the opton Max wdth (7) s used, the text object s sent to the prnter as a pcture Notce! It s possble to nsert specal characters n a vsual form, by rghtclckng (8) n an edtable feld of a text, a formula or a barcode. For more nformatons 6. 30 0 5 Use 0 Hghlghtng keywords You can hghlght (bold, talc...) certan words n a sentence or a text (eg allergens). For ths, cablabel S has a bult-n lst of pre-defned keywords contanng the most common allergens n dfferent languages. You can also create your own custom lst of keywords. 6.9 Keywords When creatng or edtng a text: Select the Keywords () tab Enable the opton Keywords formattng () Choose the type of settngs to use () Valdate by clckng on the OK button (5) For specfc settngs: Select the wshed language(s) from the dropdown lst () Select the type of formattng (bold, talc...) ()! Attenton! If the opton Keywords formattng () s used, the text object s sent to the prnter as a pcture. Fgure 50 Keywords formattng 5

31 5 Use Hyphenaton When creatng a text, you can select to enable or not the word hyphenaton at end of lne n a paragraph wth a maxmum defned wdth. When creatng or edtng a text: Select the Language tab () Select the language for the text n the lst () Enable / dsable Hyphenaton by clckng on the checkbox () Valdate by clckng on the OK button Fgure 5 Hyphenaton Interpretaton of Uncode syntax When creatng a text, you can select to enable or not the nterpretaton of Uncode syntax, for the characters entered manually or nserted from the character map. If checked, the [U:x] syntax s drectly nterpreted, n order to see n cablabel S the renderng of Uncode characters, as they wll then be reproduced on prntout or wth a barcode reader.! Attenton! Dependng on the characters, t s sometmes necessary to dsable the nterpretaton. For example usng a text object contanng a carrage return as a datasource for a barcode. When creatng or edtng a text: Select the Mscellaneous tab () Enable / dsable Interpretaton of Uncode syntax by clckng on the checkbox () Valdate by clckng on the OK button Fgure 5 Interpretaton of Uncode syntax

32 5 Use 5.. Insertng pctures To nsert a pcture: Select the Pcture object n the toolbar.. Most of specal objects are composed of two elements: the object tself actng as a datasource and a lnked text takng resultng content Prompt felds A prompt feld allows the user to enter data before prntng wthout modfyng the layout. To nsert a prompt feld: Select the prompt feld object.. Specal toolbar Adjust the dfferent parameters There are two types of prompt felds () : Standalone: the feld s dsplayed on the prnter's dsplay and the user flls t drectly on the prnter. 36 6 5 Use Counter A counter allows to create an automatc countng durng prntng. To nsert a counter: Select the counter object.. Specal toolbar Adjust the dfferent parameters Knd of counter, numerc, alpha, alphanumerc or hexa. The counter s reset to ts start value after prntng. The value of the counter s saved n the prnter's default memory after prntng. Allow to save the counter value on computer, for example to share a counter between dfferent labels 5. Prntng on a two color prnter When prntng a label on a two color prnter (for example XC or XC6), the prnter drver wll automatcally send objects defned n black color to second prnthead (man color) and all objects defned wth another color than black to frst prnthead (secondary color). 46 6 5 Use Save a label on a memory card The Save to memory card button n the general rbbon allows you to export your label to a memory meda (Compact Flash card, USB memory stck, IFFS...) to use t n standalone mode Savng to a prnter, a card reader or a fle Clck on the Save to memory card button to open the upload wndow. Select the prnter model where you want to export the label (). Select the target Card reader, Fle or Prnter (). Notce! As durng an export to a prnter, the Card reader target generates a JScrpt fle, then copy t wth the fles of TrueType fonts and of pctures objects from layout, by placng them n ther respectve folders. Ths allows to upload the labels to a memory meda plugged drectly to your computer, wthout the need of connectng to prnter. The Fle target generates a sngle JScrpt fle, by ncludng n a bnary form the fonts and mages. Ths fle could for example be sent to a prnter wth a programmable controller, as well as wth the Job tab of the prnt dalog. Fgure 77 Job tab Dependng on chosen target, select ts locaton (). Notce! The opton Repeat last fle content (9) allows to create a loop. So the prnted label wll be repeated contnuously. The opton Force font download for all texts (0) s only dsplayed n Expert mode. Prnter states are dsplayed n the spooler, whch allows to montor devces from the prntng computer. If a prnter s unavalable, jobs are automatcally queued. Attenton! It also allows the deleton of a record n the table. To use ths plugn, you need to create or modfy two confguraton fles wth a text edtor. These fles must be located n the folder C:\ProgramData\cab\stc\Plugns and must be adapted to the database.
