These messages are ormatted to besentt opager s,cel lphones,pda soranyema l address. They can also be sent to an n-house pagng system usng the ndustry standard TAP protocol. The emal content can be customzed, but by deault s ormatted to present the same normaton that s dsplayed on the ront panel o the re alarm. Optons are also avalable to send Prnt Statements and Utlty ponts. Sudden loods o troubles may be blocked so they do not overwhelm recpents. Intermttent (repeatng) troubles may be blocked. Each user can have a dened work sht and specy what messages they receve when they are workng and what ( any) they receve when they are not. You would see somethng lke ths on your pager or cell phone: SUBJ: FIRE ALARM 2ND FLR ELECTRICAL ROOM * VERIFIED SMOKE DETECTOR * ALARM eomega gves you complete control over what types o messages are sent, when they are sent, and to whom. For example, an admnstrator or securty ocer mght only receve re alarms, whle someone n acltes or engneerng would receve alarms and troubles. 2 Congure Address Book Each eomega recpent can have a custom prole denng when they wll receve each type o message. Smply dene the persons work sht the days and tmes they normally work. Next select the types o messages they wll receve durng that work sht. Then at the bottom o the page select the types o messages ( any) they should receve when they are not workng. Congure Show Send To Ths box wll show everyone who s currently congured to receve each message type. Also rom ths box (or the man screen), you can dsable all messages or a gven message type wth a sngle check box. Optons Supervson Message I there s rarely any actvty on your re alarm system, sooner or later you are gong to wonder eomega s stll workng. You can use ths opton to send a message every 8, 12 or 24 hours just to let people know that everythng s n workng order. The three tme perod selectons allow you to send the message at, or example, the begnnng o each sht. People comng on duty do not have to go out o ther way to be sure the system s workng. Optons Flood Preventer Ths opton wll prevent a sudden nrush (lood) o troubles rom nundatng you wth messages. Partcularly on network systems, when the network ntalzes you may get a sudden lood o messages. You can use the derent elds to set how senstve ths eature s. 3 Ignore Condtons I there are certan messages you have no use or, you can prevent them rom ever beng sent. As eomega receves messages rom the re alarm, t learns al o the derent type o messages. Thereore, you receve a message type you do not want to ever see agan, eomega wl have already added t to the pul down box shown at the botom o the dalog box. Al you have to do s clck on the message type you want gnored. Ignore Nodes Ignore Frequent Troubles An ntermttent trouble condton can be a real hassle. By the tme t has come n a dozen or so tmes, you are ready to throw your pager out the nearest wndow (even t s not open!). Wth ths eature you can decde how tolerant o the trouble you want to be. The most restrctve settng wll not allow a trouble to be sent more than once every 24 hours. The least restrctve settngs would allow t to be sent up to 10 tmes every hour. I you have a moderate to large re alarm network system, you need to be able to test or servce a node wthout botherng people wth a lot o unnecessary messages, and wthout dsablng pagng or the rest o the network. Wth ths eature t s smple to block all messages rom selected nodes. Just check the nodes to gnore. Optons Block Events Ths eature s handy or preventng messages rom beng accdentally sent when the system s beng tested. Most systems have one or more Bypass ponts that are used to dsable system unctons when the system s beng tested; or example: SIGNAL BYPASS. When eomega sees ths pont go nto trouble t wll prohbt the message types you have selected rom beng sent. Two derent bypass ponts can be speced so that derent message types can be blocked. 4 Optons Utlty Ponts eomega can be congured to capture and page Utlty ponts, whch do not cause a status change or show up on the re alarm dsplay. Ths s useul the re alarm s montorng a non-re alarm status, such as Code Blue events n a hosptal, equpment alarms, ext door status, etc. Ths screen allows you to redene Utlty ponts and page them as they were a normal pont type. Congure Translate Labels Usng ths opton, you can look or a certan pont label, and then change t beore t s paged out. One use or ths s to gve you the ablty to correct a label that s out o date. I you use ths eature n conjuncton wth the Utlty Ponts eature above, t gves you a very powerul capablty. Now you know longer have to ndvdually label each Utlty Pont n the re alarm. You can label them usng a pattern, such as CODE BLUE 1, CODE BLUE 2, etc. Then use the Translate Labels eature to assgn custom labels to use to page out. Ths allows you to program the re alarm once, and then add/change/delete labels over tme wthout havng to reprogram the re alarm each tme. Congure Tmer Test eomega s not lsted or any type o prmary reportng, and should never be used or such. However, someone wants to montor multple buldng/stes that are usng eomega, a companon program caled eomega Mal can be used to do ths. It wl receve messages rom multple eomega nstallatons and report them all on one screen, usng pop-up boxes: The Tmer Test eature o eomega wll send a message to eomega Mal once a day so that any stes al to report n, you can take acton to nd out why. 5 Techncal Descrpton How To Purchase eomega s dstrbuted by SmplexGrnnell. To nd the nearest oce, go to: RS SmplexGrnnell can provde the on-ste support to properly congure your Smplex re alarm, and setup and congure eomega to work properly. eomega s typcally nstalled on a customers computer, whch s connected to ther computer network. The RS- 232 port o the computer s connected to an RS-232 prnter port on the re alarm panel, or to an RS-232 port o the GCC/IMS computer. Ths connecton s smpled by the use o a connector kt avalable rom FlashPont Sotware Inc. The kt s centered around modular RS-232 connectors whch are ted together by a common CAT5 network patch cable. The connectng cable should be less than 50 eet long possble. Dstances up to several hundred eet are possble usng CAT5 or better cable, but are not guaranteed. Go to to see derent optons or sendng RS-232 over long dstances. Do a search or short haul modems. There are many whch wll work well over phone wre or even ber. The prnter port o the re panel (or GCC/IMS) sends out system events as they happen, and eomega decdes whch o these message to send out, and to whom. The eomega computer must have a hgh speed connecton to a LAN or the Internet so t can send emal. It can pass emal to Mcrosot Outlook or Outlook Express, or t can send emal drectly to a SMTP or Exchange mal server. It can also connect drectly to an n-house pagng system usng an RS-232 TAP port. Cel Phones, Pagers, ISP s FlashPont Sotware Inc. does not recommend or endorse any partcular cell phone, pager, PDA or servce provder. Anythng that wll receve an emal (most pagers and cell phones) wll probably work.
