Next school year, North Central bands will have our concert bands. Symphonic Winds will be considered one o the top playing ensembles in the band program, so I would like to congratulate you or being selected to be a member o this band! As you know, every member o any ensemble is crucial to our success. lease plan your summer so that you can be ready to immediately be a productive member o this special group. Attached to this letter, you will ind music to practice over the summer: Every instrument has a small solo excerpt (percussionists also have rudiments or snare). Chair audition music or the all semester will be perormed rom these excerpts as well as the attached scale sheet. As a resource to you, you can ind recordings o these excerpts at the ollowing website: < community/community_events/all_state_band_recordings. Be sure to click on your instrument, then ind the audio player or the Clinic Audition music. In this packet, you will also ind a LESSON LOG that you can ill out this summer and turn in when school begins. Many students in the NC Bands have used the summer lesson log or several years. It is no secret that some people come into the school year out o shape and at times unprepared. This becomes very rustrating or many members o the band. lease ind time to get with a private teacher at least our times during your summer break. I there is some type o inancial diiculty, please contact me so that I can be o assistance. As always, select your private teacher careully. This person should push you to do your best and help you to constantly improve and gain conidence. Attached, you will ind a list o instructors that we have had the best luck with over the past several years. 2 RIVATE LESSONS Band classes at North Central are structured as group lessons or a variety o instrumentalists. While this is a good way to teach like skills, it does not always allow or the astest possible individual development. Students who study privately generally advance at a quicker pace and have a better chance at achieving their ull music potential. The ollowing list is not all o the private instructors in the area, but rather those who currently or in the past have taught North Central students. I you ind that everyone you contact has a ull schedule, please contact your director so that we may work together in inding a suitable private instructor.
