The schedules and this dcument are available n the Cntent Prtectin Schedule SharePint at ult.aspx. PLEASE g t the sharepint t get a schedule rather than cntacting anyne in Digital Plicy. PLEASE lk at this guide if yu have a questin n a schedule befre cntacting anyne in Digital Plicy. 2 VOD/Pay Per View/Pay TV schedule VOD, TVOD and SVOD but NOT AVOD EST Pay per view TV deals (via any delivery means: cable; IPTV; satellite/terrestrial TV) Pay TV (via any delivery means: cable; IPTV; satellite/terrestrial TV) NOTE the text at the start saying that if the Licensee s cntent prtectin system is ne f the 5 DRMs apprved by the Digital Entertainment Cntent Ecsystem (DECE 1 ) AND has been implemented in accrdance with the cmpliance and rbustness rules assciated with the chsen DRM, then their Cntent Prtectin System is cnsidered t meet the requirements in the schedule that are listed. The schedule is generally independent f the delivery means s is suitable fr delivery ver pen internet, clsed netwrk, cable, satellite and terrestrial TV. Streaming sectins have been added s yu can als use this schedule fr services streaming VOD windw cntent (e.g. ver Silverlight r Adbe Flash). Nte the requirements within the Silverlight and Abde Flash sectins fr Licensees t migrate t Silverlight 4 and Adbe Flash Access 2.0 within certain timeframes. Fr MFN reasns, this timescale has t be set t June 30, 2010 in the US, but utside the US we have mre flexibility. If the Licensee will nt cmmit t the timescales in this 1 DECE is a standards bdy that Sny Pictures Entertainment started and supprt. Mitch Singer was President f the grup fr sme time. 2 schedule, please ask them why nt, and if yu think their answer is reasnable, put them in tuch with me (Tim Wright). The Cnditinal Access sectin is nly relevant if the deal includes (r will include during the term) delivery a bradcast system (typically satellite r terrestrial). Hwever, if nt applicable, please d nt delete the requirement entirely as this will mess up the numbering f the requirements listed as cvered by a DECE-apprved DRM 2. Instead, if yu r the Licensee want extra assurance that the requirements dn t apply in such a case, put in extra text t state their nn-applicability r delete all the text apart frm the numbering, and put in Intentinally Omitted r equivalent. If the cntent is AVOD, but is delivered using temprary dwnlad methds (as ppse t streaming), yu can use this schedule but we can weaken the requirements and drp sme f them. Send the Licensee the whle schedule and ask them t say what they cannt d, and then discuss their respnses with Tim Wright. Aside frm the Early Windw schedule, this schedule is the mst demanding, s if yu dn t knw what schedule t really send and cannt get hld f anyne wh can tell yu, then yu can send the VOD/PPV/Pay TV schedule. If it turns ut that this schedule is t demanding, we can send them anther r weaken its requirements but its prbably easier t g frm a demanding set f requirements t a less demanding set than the ther way rund. 3 Internet Streaming and AVOD AVOD cntent delivered by streaming (nly) It can be used fr streaming ver the pen internet r fr streaming ver clsed netwrks. If yu knw that ne f the technlgy-specific sectins (e.g. Flash streaming, Silverlight) is nt relevant, yu can delete it. 4 Basic and Free t Air (FTA) TV Basic TV services, bth linear bradcast and IPTV Free T Air (FTA) services, bth linear and IPTV Catch-up services fr Basic and FTA Simulcast services fr Basic and FTA If catch-up, simulcast r mbile are nt part f the deal, yu can delete these sectins. 3 Yu can als use this schedule fr: Basic TV services, bth linear bradcast and IPTV Catch-up services fr Basic Simulcast services fr Basic If catch-up, simulcast r mbile are nt part f the deal, yu can delete these sectins. See the ntes n the Lw Reslutin Mbile sectin belw fr mre infrmatin n mbile. 6 Lw Reslutin Mbile Un-encrypted streaming f lw reslutin (QVGA 30 frames/s, r lwer reslutin) ver mbile Mbile phnes generally dn t supprt an encrypted streaming prtcls such as Flash (RMTP-E), Silverlight r SRTP and streaming ver mbile is therefre generally un-encrypted 3 (unless a prprietary methd, such as that frm Mbiclip, is used). Cellular USB mdems are excluded frm the list f Apprved Devices since these deliver the un-encrypted stream straight int an pen envirnment such as a PC where stream capture tls can be used. Clause 3.1 is designed t require the netwrk peratr t emply best effrts in keeping the mbile device accessing the stream t Apprved Devices nly. Many peratrs already restrict the types f phnes they send a stream t (using http header infrmatin r mbile phne identity ranges 4 ) s they have this blcking capability already. Hwever, this blcking can be circumvented, s we cannt require abslute cmpliance, and delivery f unencrypted mbile streams t a USB mdem shuld nt cunt as a Security Breach. The definitins in clause 1 (Apprved Mbile Delivery Means/Device/Frmat) may duplicate definitins already in the lng frm. In such a case, harmnise the definitins, mving material frm the cntent prtectin schedule t the main bdy, as required. 7 Early Windw Cntent (EWC) VOD services in the Early Windw/Hspitality windw, i.e. prir t Hme Ent (DVD r Blu-ray) release and days after theatrical release This windw is currently nly fr services t htels, airlines and sme maritime services. EST in this windw is NOT permitted at present. The EWC schedule is the VOD/PPV/Pay TV schedule with the fllwing additins: 3 Apart frm the encryptin prvided by the relevant air interface standard (e.g. GSM r UMTS). Hwever, this encryptin can be switched ff by the peratr at any time, and generally nly cvers the radi prtin f the delivery it desn t cver delivery acrss the mbile peratr s fixed netwrk fr example. 4 See fr mre n GSM and UMTS mbile phne identifiers.

4 Fr HD, the frensic watermarking requirement. This is a watermark frm an apprved watermark technlgy prvider 5 in the cntent itself, identifying the time, date and id f user accessing the cntent Why is this needed? HD n a gd screen is s gd that peple just recrd ff the screen using a vide camera and then make the pirated vide available. The frensic watermark can be used t trace wh did this (the watermark survives the recrding prcess). The watermark is nt necessary fr SD EWC but is abslutely necessary fr HD EWC (but which SPE d nt license in any case at the mment). a cmplete prhibitin n any analgue utputs, whether prtected by Macrvisin, CGMS-A r sme ther prtectin methd. NO analgue utputs are allwed fr Early Windw cntent. If the end user devices supprts analgue utputs, but these can be switched ff fr EW cntent, the licensee must have a cnvincing stry abut hw unauthrised re-enabling f these utputs is prevented. Althugh nearly all the requirements in the EWC schedule are the same as thse in the VOD/PPV/Pay TV schedule, a higher level f cmpliance t them is required fr EWC. 8 Kisk Kisk deals Kisk deals are where users dwnlad (encrypted) cntent (but nt a DRM license fr the cntent) nt a USB stick r ther prtable memry device, and then uplad the cntent t their device at hme frm the stick and then btain a DRM license fr the cntent apprpriate t their wn device. The Kisk schedule is the VOD/EST/PPV/Pay TV schedule plus sme requirements specific t the kisks. 9 Windws DRM schedules The Windws DRM schedules fr VOD and EST cntain the license settings that shuld be used if the Licensee s cntent prtectin system is Windws Media DRM r Playready. Nte that bth schedules are templates and NOT final versins. They need t be finalised t fix parameters fr: Outputs sme settings are different if HD is in scpe. If HD is nt in scpe, use the SD setting and delete references t HD. User s allwed viewing perid after first use ( ExpiratinAfterFirstUse ) set this t the viewing perid specified in the deal usage rules 5 At time f writing, the nly apprved watermark prvider is a cmpany called Civlutin. Please get in tuch with Digital Plicy, with all technical infrmatin yu can get hld f, if yur Licensee wants t use anther watermark prvider.

5 User s allwed cntent retentin perid after dwnlad ( ExpiratinOnStre ) set this t the perid that the cntent can remain n the user s device fr after dwnlad that is specified in the deal usage rules 10 Airline schedule I have nly dne ne airline deal s far, s the schedule used may nt be representative, but it is n the sharepint nevertheless. Please start by sending the versin n the sharepint t the licensee and ask them t mark any sectins that they d nt think apply, telling us why they d nt apply. Then get in tuch with Digital Plicy. 11 My deal is nt cvered by any existing schedule! Get in tuch with Digital Plicy as sn as yu knw the rugh shape f the service (cntent windw and types, delivery means, and types f end user devices) and then let s wrk tgether t build a schedule. Please use the Technical Questinaire (available n the sharepint) t gather infrmatin abut the service. 12 My licensee refuses t sign up t any schedule! Unbelievable, but it des happen. Please: Emphasise that its clearly very imprtant t Sny Pictures Entertainment that ur cntent is prtected and that is what the schedule is designed t d Find ut why yur licensee cannt sign up t a schedule If they persist with refusing t sign up t a schedule, ask them which alternative means they want t use t give us assurances that ur cntent will be prtected. They culd, fr example, cntractually cmply with relevant security whitepapers describing their system. But ding withut a schedule (except fr a FTA deal) is a last ptin, s be firm and escalate a bit n bth sides befre we examine hw we culd d withut a schedule
