4 Overview 1 OVERVIEW 1.1 OVERVIEW OF PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE WNE installatins frm Reuters include a caching server (Lenv WNE PC r Dell Server), and a Reuters supplied satellite receiver. WNE cntent received ver satellite is cached lcally n the supplied server fr cntent strage, lcal brwsing and fr vide playut via supplied vide cards installed in the PC r Server. Tw mdels f satellite receiver and installed vide cards, in a PC and Server, exist n client sites tday HARDWARE Satellite Receivers Bth the EMR and the RX8200 extract IP Multicast Data frm the Reuters Satellite Stream. It is IP data passed frm the receiver, via an ethernet cnnectin, t a PC r Server that makes up the WNE cntent. IP Data is cnnected n IP Output 2/Ethernet 2 n each f the receivers. Management f the EMR is via the same Ethernet Cable that carries IP Data. Management f the RX8200 is via a dedicated Management Prt Cntrl PCs and Server All cmputer systems cme with 2 x Ethernet interface cards (NICs). One card cnnects t the satellite receiver and the 2 nd card is fr cnnectin t a client netwrk. WNE Cntent is always stred n a secnd hard drive labeled the E: drive n all WNE systems. File Distributin services f WNE cntent ff the WNE PC/Server. User Access Management fr Editrial Users. Health Status Mnitring f WNE Services. 6 Overview EXAMPLE CLIENT INSTALLATION The abve example architecture shws a typical client cnfiguratin. Please nte that all IP addresses are examples nly, fr the purpse f this graphic. Tp-Dwn Overview WNE Cntent is received via satellite t the client satellite dish. The signal is received and prcessed by a satellite receiver (EMR and RX examples shwn). IP data is received and prcessed frm the Satellite receiver and presented as WNE Data. The secnd NIC interface f the PC/Server is cnnected t the client netwrk. WNE Data is then available acrss the client netwrk: Fr Jurnalists t access n the WNE Brwser Website frm their wrkstatin. T be prcessed int an Editrial Server System fr further prcessing. Vide cntent n the WNE PC/Server can be played ut via the Stradis r Blackmagic vide cards t a Newsrm mnitr display system. Any data missed ver satellite can be retrieved frm the Reuters CDN prvided the apprpriate firewall rules are in place n such a netwrk. 7 Pre-installatin Hardsware Setup Checklist 2 PRE-INSTALLATION HARDSWARE SETUP CHECKLIST 1. Cnfigure the firewall t allw prt 80 t pass thrugh t the Internet and assign a static IP address fr the PC if desired. 2. Split the existing Reuters RLS satellite signal and run a cax cable t the lcatin assigned fr a new system. 3. Unpack the Reuters supplied satellite receiver and the WNE PC r Server. 4. Cnnect the receiver t the Reuters feed and pwer up the unit. 5. Cnnect the PC r server t pwer, keybard, muse, and a vide mnitr (Reuters des nt supply a vide mnitr, nr keybard r muse). 6. Cnnect PC r Server t the satellite receiver. PC Onbard NIC interface t LAN 2 (EMR) r IP Out 2 (RX8200). Server NIC labeled Gb2 t LAN 2 (EMR) r IP Out 2 (RX8200). 7. Turn n the PC r Server. 8. A netwrk cnnectin t the client LAN will be required t the secnd NIC interface n the PC and Server. Please cnsult with the client engineer as t hw this shuld be cnfigured. Internet access is required fr this interface. 9. Ensure that yur WNE PC r Server has adequate anti-virus prtectin sftware installed n it and that the sftware has been prperly updated. 8 Installatin Checklist Overview 3 INSTALLATION CHECKLIST OVERVIEW The fllwing is a checklist f actins t perfrm t cmplete this WNE installatin. Each f these prcedures is described in detail within this dcument. 1. Verify that the satellite receiver is lcked and receiving IP data. Detailed EMR Cnfiguratin instructins are available n the TV Dcs website - here. Detailed RX8200 cnfiguratin instructins are available n SharePint - here 2. Verify the zband client sftware is cnnected and receiving files. 3. If yu will be playing ut yur vide via the prvided vide card, verify that the card is prperly cnnected. This includes making sure that yu have crrectly cnnected all f the necessary cables. Please nte the utput parameters f the Blackmagic and Stradis cards under sectin Cnfigure yur WNE PC Review yur WNE administrative settings as needed (different settings need t be reviewed depending n hw yu intend t use the WNE website). Create yur user accunts (yu can als create additinal accunts if needed later). Enable the Internet Backup feature (recmmended). Pst-installatin validatin checks. 9 Installatin Checklist Prcedures 4 INSTALLATION CHECKLIST PROCEDURES 4.1 VERIFY THAT THE EMR IS LOCKED TO THE SATELLITE AND RECEIVING DATA 1. Frm yur WNE PC, access the lcal SkyStream EMR web page at 2. Lgin using the default username which is emradmin, leave the passwrd field blank. 3. Verify that the EMR is lcked by selecting StatisticsSatellite Receiver frm the left hand navigatin menu. 4. The green LOCK bar indicates the status f the varius parameters. The MPE Lck (Multi-prtcl Encapsulatin) light will alternate between red and green as the headend system transmits an activity pulse every 5 t 10 secnds. If the EMR is nt lcked, refer t the EMR Cnfiguratin Guide t crrect the prblem. 4.2 VERIFY THAT THE RX8200 IS LOCKED TO THE SATELLITE AND RECEIVING DATA Please refer t RX8200 Cnfiguratin Guide fr detailed instructins n cnfiguratin. 4.3 VERIFY THAT ZBAND IS CONNECTED AND RECEIVING FILES On yur WNE PC, lcate the zband icn in the System Tray. Verify that zband is running (the icn shuld be blue, nt disabled). If yur zband sftware is nt running prperly, refer t the zband Sftware Guide. Once the zband applicatin has successfully prcessed a file, it places it in the E:\RVN flder. A file called WNEHeartbeat.dat shuld be received every 5 minutes. 10 Installatin Checklist Prcedures File Prcessr The File Prcessing Service mnitrs the E:\RVN flder and decrypts vides as they cme thrugh. The XML files always arrive befre the.ref and MPG vide files. All 3 files must be present fr decryptin t take place. Once the vide files are decrypted, they will appear in the E:\Reuters\Vide flder and can be accessed via the Reuters WNE web site. Fr a detailed descriptin f the Prcessr status, refer t the Appendix CONFIGURE YOUR WNE PC POST-INSTALLATION REVIEW OF YOUR ADMINISTRATIVE SETTINGS Depending n hw yu plan t use the WNE website, there are certain WNE administrative settings that yu will need t review and ptentially adjust. These settings are accessed via the Administratin link in the upper right hand crner f the WNE website. Refer t the applicable instructins in the table belw: WNE USAGE SCENARIO ACTIONS TO TAKE If yu will be extracting vides using playut via the Stradis card Lg in t the WNE client Click the Administratin link Review the settings and save any changes. If yu make any changes, yu may be prmpted t restart specific services. Fr a full descriptin f the WNE administrative fields, refer t Appendix 1 f this Installatin Guide. If yu will be using File Distributin Prcess Cnfigure a file distributin prcess as described in Appendix 2 f this Installatin Guide CREATING NEW USER ACCOUNTS Yur WNE PC is pre-cnfigured with a single user accunt, the administratr accunt, which is assigned full permissins n the system. 11 Installatin Checklist Prcedures Nte It is strngly recmmended that yu create additinal user accunts fr the ther editrial users f yur WNE system as the Administratr accunt has full permissins n WNE that shuld nt be granted t all users. T create a WNE user accunt, use the prcedure belw: 1. Lgin t the WNE website as the Administratr accunt (yu shuld already have the passwrd). 2. Click the Administratin link in the upper right hand crner f the page. 3. Select the User Management tab. 4. Click the +ADD NEW buttn next t Displaying Users. 5. Enter the name fr the user accunt yu are creating in the User Name field (e.g., jde). The user ID yu enter must nt exceed 15 characters. 6. Enter the passwrd fr the user accunt yu are creating in the Passwrd field. 7. Enter a display name t be used fr the user accunt (e.g., Jhn D). This is the name that will appear n the tp f the WNE website page when the user is lgged in. 8. Select the privileges yu wuld like t assign t this user accunt (yu may als want t review the privileges f any existing user accunts). Yu may assign all, sme r nne f the fllwing privileges t a user. Nte The Playut, Playlist, Distributin, Play Nw, My Vides and Save Searches privileges are autmatically assigned by default t all existing and newly created users (t revke these privileges fr any given user, clear the assciated checkbx). The Delete Histry permissin is nt assigned by default (t grant this privileges t any given user, yu must select its checkbx). Playut assigning this permissin allws the user t access the Player mdule. This includes the ability t stp/start playut, skip a vide, set the playut mde and change the number f vides t be played in Lp mde. Playlist - assigning this permissin allws the user t add/remve stries t/frm the playlist and change the rder f stries in the playlist when the player mdule is in Manual playut mde. Distributin - assigning this permissin will allw the user t add stries and/r page t the Distributin Flder. Play Nw - assigning this permissin will allw the user t playut any vide using the Playut Nw feature (and temprarily verride the current playut mde f the Player mdule). Nte A user wh has been assigned this permissin will be able t playut vides in the Player mdule (via the Playut Nw feature) even if yu have nt assigned the Playut permissin (described abve) t that user. Delete Histry - assigning this permissin will allw the user t clear the WNE playut. My Vides assigning this permissin will allw the user t add vides f interest t MY VIDEOS fr eventual playut. Save Searches - assigning this permissin will allw the user t save the search terms and access it at a later pint f time using the Saved Searches drp-dwn menu in the header. 9. Click Save. The user accunt will be created. Yu can test the accunt by lgging in as that user t ensure that the accunt was created prperly. Be sure t infrm all f yur users f their user IDs and Passwrds if they d nt already knw them ENABLE THE INTERNET BACKUP FEATURE (RECOMMENDED) Yur WNE Client installatin is equipped with a feature called Internet Backup that can be used t retrieve WNE cntent that may be lst during satellite transmissin. This feature is disabled by default. T enable the Internet Backup feature, refer t the Internet Backup sectin f Appendix 1. 12 Installatin Checklist Prcedures T view the current status f the File Prcessr, g t SUPPORT tab and click the link under System Status. There shuld nly be a single instance f File prcessr running. The File prcessing service windw shuld appear as shwn belw: Verify that the WNE website is prperly displaying yur vide cntent Yu shuld nw verify that the WNE website is prperly displaying yur vide cntent. This check shuld be perfrmed directly: frm the WNE PC Using a web brwser, access frm any PCs n the same lcal netwrk as the WNE PC (if yu intend t have users access the WNE website frm ther PCs n the netwrk). Using a web brwser, access where <WNE_PC_ADDRESS> represents the actual IP address r the name (as cnfigured by yur netwrk administratr) f the WNE PC frm which the WNE website is hsted. 13 Descriptin f all WNE Administrative settings APPENDIX 1 DESCRIPTION OF ALL WNE ADMINISTRATIVE SETTINGS This sectin describes the Administrative settings within the WNE Client PC. These settings are divided int several categries: File Prcessr, Website, Playut, Internet Backup and Advanced. Each grup f settings is accessed via a separate link n the Settings tab. These settings are accessed via the Administratin link in the upper right hand crner f the WNE website. Nte After making changes t any f the settings n these tabs, yu must click UPDATE SETTINGS n each tab. Yu may als be prmpted t restart the File Prcessr, Internet Backup and/r the WNE player service. File Prcessr FIELD Name IP Address f Satellite Receiver Vide Standard MAC Address f Satellite Receiver DESCRIPTION Name that has been assigned by Reuters t yur WNE PC. This must exactly match the name that was supplied by Reuters. IP Address f the satellite receiver Specifies the vide standard t be used fr playut (e.g., 525 r 625). Yu must ensure that the value set here matches the vide standard f the files being received by the satellite. If yu are unsure what standard yu are using, please cntact a Thmsn Reuters representative befre enabling the WNE Client. This is the MAC Address f the receiver [this is a display-nly field]. This field is used fr trubleshting purpses. Website FIELD Max Stries per page Max Advisries per page Display Playut Shw Vide previews Display Time Frmat DESCRIPTION Maximum number f stries per page n the Stries tab. Maximum number f advisries per page n Advisries tab. Enables / suppresses display f WNE Player and playut-related functins in the WNE Client. If yu set this field t Disabled and yur Playut mde is set t Aut r Lp, playut f vide cntent will cntinue via the Strădis card but yu will be unable t cntrl playut behavir (e.g., number f vides in Lp Playut mde, changing Playut mde). Indicates whether a brwse versin f the selected vide (as ppsed t just a text descriptin) will be available in the preview windw. Minutes & Secnds (MM:SS) - Sets the display f vide duratin t Minutes & Secnds frmat. Example: 01:30 Secnds (SSS) - Sets the display f vide duratin t Secnds frmat. 14 Descriptin f all WNE Administrative settings Playut FIELD Genlck DESCRIPTION The Genlck feature allws the linear vide utput f the WNE Player service t be synchrnised t an external reference. T use this feature, a standard cmpsite (PAL r NTSC) Black & Burst reference signal must be cnnected t the Genlck input cnnectr f the WNE Player service. If yu will be utilizing Genlck, yu must first install a patch t ensure the prper functining f this feature. The patch file is named genlckpatch msi and can be fund in the fllwing directry n the WNE PC: C:\Prgram Files\SkyStream Netwrks\zBand Crprate Editin\Strage\Reuters Updates\WNE Client 4-1 T apply the patch, simply duble-click the file (it will then install itself). Genlck Offset in nansecnds ARC Playut t 4:3 Shw Waiting Vide fr Playut Genlck ffset allws the timing f the vide utput t be adjusted relative t the genlck external reference input. Autmatically cnverts aspect rati f all incming frmat vides t 4:3. If this field is set t disabled, playut mde will use native Aspect Rati fr every vide. Plays ut a waiting message via the Strădis card when n vides are being played. Internet Backup The Internet Backup feature checks fr any cntent that may have been lst in transmissin r nt delivered t yur WNE PC ver the last 24 hrs. The use f this feature requires that yu have internet access frm yur WNE PC. This feature is disabled by default. Nte If yu are using a prxy server that restricts access t the Internet, yu must ensure that it allws HTTP/HTTPS traffic t all sub-dmains f.reuters.cm in rder fr the Internet Backup feature t functin prperly. 1. T enable the Internet Backup feature, set the fllwing fields n the Internet Backup tab: FIELD Last Successful Access Client Serial Number Enabled/Disabled Username Passwrd Prxy (XX.XX.XX.XX:YYYY) Prxy Username DESCRIPTION Displays the last time the Internet Backup feature successfully cntacted the Reuters servers (if the Internet Backup feature has never been used, this field will display Never). Displays the unique numeric ID specific t yur WNE PC. Reuters Supprt Staff may ask yu fr this ID when trubleshting ptential issues. Designates whether the Internet Backup feature is enabled. This field is autmatically set. Only change the value in this field if instructed t d s by a Reuters supprt representative. This field is autmatically set. The frmat used shuld be: <IP r Dmain>:<Prt> If yu access the internet frm the WNE PC via a prxy, enter the user name t access the prxy (if yur prxy requires authenticatin). Once all f the fields n this tab have been prperly set, click Update Settings. 3. Stp the WNE Backup service by selecting Stp Service frm the PrgramsWrld News Express Backup menu n yur WNE PC. 4. Start the WNE Backup service by selecting Start Service frm the PrgramsWrld News Express Backup menu n yur WNE PC. 5. Click Test Cnnectin (n the Internet Backup tab) t verify that the Internet Backup feature is able t cnnect t the Reuters servers. If yu are unable t successfully cmplete this test, cntact yur Reuters supprt representative. Advanced The settings n this page shuld nt be edited n a rutine basis. Please cntact yur Reuters supprt representative if yu have questins abut a particular field n this page. 16 Cnfiguring a Distributin Prcess APPENDIX 2 CONFIGURING A DISTRIBUTION PROCESS This sectin describes the Distributin prcess feature which prvides a mre flexible way f distributing files frm the WNE t bth external systems and n the PC. There are tw types f distributins prcesses as fllws: Autmatin Distributin Prcess all the files that arrive n the WNE PC will be distributed. Manual Distributin Prcess nly the files selected manually using the Add t Distributin buttn will be distributed. T add a new distributin prcess, fllw the steps belw: 1. In the File Distributin tab, click the +ADD NEW buttn. 2. In the Step 1 f 4 dialg bx that appears, enter a name fr the distributin prcess and click NEXT. 17 Cnfiguring a Distributin Prcess 3. In Step 2 f 4, yu have the ptin t chse the type f files and the methd t distribute the same. Chse the apprpriate values and click NEXT. b. What files wuld yu like t distribute? Files selected manually using the website These are files that are selected manually using the Add t Distributin buttn. The resulting prcess will be placed under Manual Distributin Prcess. All Files that arrive n the WNE pc These include all the files that arrive n the WNE PC. The resulting prcess will be placed under Autmatin Distributin Prcess. c. What types f files d yu want t distribute? Chse ne r mre f the ptins belw: Vides - Vides will be distributed. Scripts - Scripts will be distributed. Advisries Advisries will be distributed. Distribute vides and scripts tgether Chsing this ptin will ensure bth the script files and their crrespnding vide files have arrived befre distributing them tgether. d. What methd wuld yu like t use t distribute these files? FTP Cpy These are the different methds f distributin available. 4. 19 Cnfiguring a Distributin Prcess a. If yu had chsen FTP, the fllwing screen appears. Enter the fllwing details and click NEXT. Hst hstname f the FTP server Username username t access the FTP server Passwrd passwrd t access the FTP server Target Directry directry in the FTP Server where yu want the files t be distributed Prt Number FTP Prt number. The default value is 21. Active/Passive Mde f FTP Similarly, enter the standby lcatin details if applicable. When the Primary cnfiguratin is nt available, Standby will be used until the Primary is available again. b. If yu had chsen Cpy, the fllwing screen appears: Enter the directry where yu want the files t be cpied and click NEXT 5. In Step 4, chse the required filter and click NEXT. 20 Cnfiguring a Distributin Prcess a. N Filter All files will be distributed withut any filtering b. Service Filter Files will be filtered based n the channel(s) yu chse. A drp-dwn menu f available channels will appear when yu chse this ptin. Yu can select multiple channels by hlding dwn the cntrl (Ctrl) key and selecting the required values. c. Aspect Rati Filter Files will be filtered based n the aspect rati yu chse. A drp-dwn menu f available values (Widescreen/Pillarbx/Mixed/Zmed) will appear when yu chse this ptin. 6. The fllwing dialg bx will appear if the distributin prcess was successful. Click OK t clse it. Nte If yu want t mve files t multiple lcatins, multiple prcesses can t be cnfigured.
