7 Exam Cmpnents Assessment fr Frtinet NSE 8 certificatin has tw parts: a written exam, and a practical exam. Written Exam The Frtinet NSE 8 written exam is a 90-minute multiple-chice exam that is ffered at Pearsn VUE test centers wrldwide. Questins include design scenaris, exhibits, cnfiguratin extracts, and trubleshting captures that assess the netwrking, security, and Frtinet slutin knwledge and experience f the test taker. A practice exam is available at the Frtinet NSE Institute, t give yu an idea f the questins n the NSE 8 exam at Pearsn VUE. 22 8. The Frtinet Technical Training Operatins team will fllw the internal prcess t cnfirm that the test taker has passed bth exams: the written and the practical. 9. If the test taker passes bth exams, the updated infrmatin will be available at the NSE Institute site in candidate s prfile. A digital certificate will be available fr dwnlad. 10. After successfully cmpleting this prcess, the Frtinet Training department will prceed with the preparatin f the NSE 8 Award bx. The NSE 8 Award bx will be delivered t the shipping address prvided by the test taker. Remte Practical Exam Delivery The NSE 8 practical exam can be delivered in tw ways: On-site at NSE 8 physical sites: Sunrise, FL r Sphia, France Remtely thrugh a VPN t ur NSE 8 physical sites lcatins T take the practical exam, the test taker must be able t establish a Windws Remte Desktp (RDP) sessin t a bastin hst (VM hst) that allws full cnnectivity t the entire NSE 8 infrastructure. When taking the practial exam remtely, the test taker must establish the cnnectin frm a Frtinet-apprved lcatin t ne f the NSE 8 lab envirnments, allwing full cnnectivity t the NSE 8 infrastructure. A lcal prctr will accmpany the test takers fr the duratin f the exam. The requirements and cmpnents fr the NSE 8 remte exam ptin are the same as thse fr the nsite exam. The practical exam will be taken frm a suitable remte lcatin apprved and defined by Frtinet. The remte lcatin cannt be the test taker s ffice r hme. Requirements fr the NSE 8 Remte Exam Prctr requirements At least ne prctr is required fr each sessin. Fr the remte exam, a remte assistant (based n the NSE 8 site lcatin) wuld be needed in case a physical interactin with the envirnment is necessary. This persn des nt need t be an NSE 8 Prctr r an NSE 8 Certified Engineer. Basic technical knwledge is required. Cnnectivity Requirements Fr an acceptable remte sessin, prper Internet cnnectivity is required: At a minimum, a cnnectin f 5Mb/s is required. Each sessin can hld a maximum number f five exam takers at the same time: POD0 t POD4. Each student will have its independent envirnment. The recmmended cnnectin shuld be f the wired type (Ethernet). 23 Nte: If an Ethernet netwrk is nt available, a Wi-Fi netwrk (802.11ac) can be used. If a Wi-Fi cnnectin is used, it must be stable enugh t maintain the remte desktp sessin cnnected t the NSE 8 envirnment. Site Specificatins The fllwing are the minimal requirements fr the site that will hst the remte sessin: A private rm with a clsed dr is required fr examinatin purpses. Preferably, a lcatin that has minimal disruptins and nise. An independent desk fr each test taker with space fr a laptp, an additinal mnitr, a muse, and a ntepad. A laptp fr each test taker. Fr the wired cnnectin between the laptps and the FrtiGate, a ttal f six UTP Cat- 6A cables (six ft. lng minimum), are required: ne fr each laptp and ne fr the Internet link. A prjectr, televisin r smething similar shuld be available n the first day fr the preexaminatin presentatin (intrductin and verview). A paper shredder is required at the end f the secnd day t destry all the examinatin material. Laptp Requirements Test takers will be using either Frtinet-prvided r lcally-prvided laptps. The laptps will be cnnected t the pre-defined NSE 8 site fr the duratin f the exam using Windws RDP. NSE 8 Written Exam Grade The written exam is graded with the Pearsn VUE system using the scring methd defined by Frtinet: Each item (questin) must be 100% crrect fr credit, n partial credit N deductin fr incrrect answers Grade: Pass r Fail At the end f the exam, a summary reprt will shw the glbal and per sectin results f the test. NSE 8 Practical Exam Grade Test takers shuld cnsider the fllwing apprach when taking the exam: Review all tasks described n the Exam Task Frm. Scring methd: Each task must be 100% crrect fr credit. N partial credit is given and n deductins are made fr incrrect answers. 25 If the test taker passes the exam, a unique NSE 8 ID is assigned t them. The unique ID numbering rder will depend n the number f the POD used during the practical exam by the test taker and the date (day 1) n which the test taker tk the practical exam. Fr example, POD0 will have a lwer NSE 8 ID than POD1, frm the same grup f the same day and will als be lwer than POD0 f the next sessin. Examinatin Summary Reprt NSE 8 certificatin includes tw different reprts: A reprt delivered immediately after the test taker cmpletes the written exam. This is a Pearsn VUE system reprt that includes: Candidate name Date f the test Result (pass r fail) Grade details: All the sectins that the test taker has passed r failed. (It is directly related t the exam list f tpics.) An examinatin summary reprt applicable t the practical exam, that includes: Candidate name Date f the test General result (pass r fail) Grade details: All the sectins that the test taker has passed r failed. (It is directly related t the exam list f tpics.) This reprt is delivered thrugh a direct cmmunicatin between the prctr and the test taker between 12 t 15 days after the practical exam was taken. 26 Successful Candidates Sequential Identificatin Numbers All the leading certificatin prgrams have a numbering scheme. Fr the NSE 8, the numbering scheme starts at This numbering scheme is based n cryptgraphy. In cryptgraphy, key size r key length is the number f bits in a key used by a cryptgraphic algrithm (such as a cipher). Key length defines the upper-bund n an algrithm's security.
