CIW certificatin is awarded by Certificatin Partners, LLC, n behalf f the CIW Advisry Cuncil, and CIW is knwn in the industry as the leader fr Internet curriculum and certificatin. Certificatin Partners respnsibilities Certificatin Partners, LLC, is respnsible fr: Develping and refining CIW prgrams, including the Faculty Institute prgrams, t meet Internet industry needs. Supplying up-t-date instructr supprt materials and necessary nging training. Certifying instructrs wh have prven their technical and instructinal skills accrding t the CIW CI prgram requirements. Ensuring instructr prgram quality by mnitring candidates prgress during certificatin. Prviding instructrs with adequate resurces t mnitr current technlgy. Prviding timely technical and prgram infrmatin t instructrs. Ensuring prgram quality by reviewing student curse evaluatins and peridically auditing classes.

4 CIW AAP/ATP respnsibilities CIW AAPs and CIW ATPs are learning facilities that are authrized t ffer Certificatin Partners' CIW curses. Respnsibilities include: Ensuring student satisfactin thrugh high-quality CIW-authrized curses with sufficient quality cntrl measures. Managing and scheduling CIW curses held at their lcatins and nline, and registering students in a prfessinal manner. Prviding and maintaining learning facilities, including the hardware, sftware and audi/visual equipment needed fr instructin, as utlined in the CIW AAP/ATP prgram requirements and the CIW AAP/ATP cntract. Emplying at least ne CIW Certified Instructr (CI) per site. (This can be a cntracted emplyee.) Supervising the CIW CI certificatin prcess and ensuring that CIW CIs teach nly the curses in which they have been CIW-certified. Scheduling and marketing authrized CIW curses. Ordering and using nly Official CIW Curriculum in class, and ensuring that all curse bjectives and guidelines are met during class. Teaching internal staff abut CIW prgram details t maximize prgram success. Cllecting student curse evaluatins and curse rsters after each CIW class, and maintaining them fr at least ne year fr auditing purpses. Develping marketing and advertising plans t prmte the CIW prgram in the lcal market. Cmplying with CIW, CIW AAP/ATP and CIW CI prgram requirements and plicies as utlined in this guide, the AAP Cmmunity sectin at and in CIW Newsletters. Maintaining accurate site and cntact infrmatin in the nline Partner Prfile. Supplying a CIW curse schedule t the CIW prgram team upn request. CIW Instructr respnsibilities When yu becme a CIW CI, yu must agree t certain respnsibilities. The CIW Certificatin Agreement and this CIW Certified Instructr Prgram Guide will specify the cntractual respnsibilities f each instructr. The CIW Certificatin Agreement, instructr respnsibilities, and CIW prgram and plicy changes are available in the partner and instructr cmmunities at Instructr respnsibilities include: Representing the CIW prgram and curseware in a psitive manner befre, during and after CIW classes. Understanding the requirements and steps t earn and maintain CIW CI status. Preparing classrms and labs fr each class accrding t CIW curse setup requirements. Teaching nly the CIW curses in which he r she has earned CIW certificatin. Preparing prperly befre teaching each CIW class. CIW Training and Certificatin Prgram Overview CIW educatin enables individuals f all skill levels t start new careers r build mre skills in existing jbs. CIW certificatin validates an individual s accmplishments at the Assciate, Specialist and Prfessinal levels. It is n lnger necessary t pass multiple exams t earn a certificatin. Als, the CIW Web Fundatins exam (1D0-510) is n lnger a prerequisite fr ther CIW certificatins. Nw, each time yu pass a CIW exam, yu will receive a CIW certificatin. This applies t the CIW Certified Instructr (CI) prgram as well. Passing any CIW exam cntributes tward earning CIW CI status. The training series includes three curses: CIW Internet Business Assciate basic Internet technlgies and advanced Internet user skills CIW Site Develpment Assciate basic Web page authring using HTML CIW Netwrk Technlgy Assciate intrductry netwrking Candidates earn the CIW Web Fundatins Assciate certificatin after passing the high-stakes CIW Web Fundatins Assciate certificatin exam (exam 1D0-510), which cvers tpics frm all three Web Fundatins curses. Hwever, sme candidates may prefer t take any r all f the three exam sectins separately (exams 1D0-51A, 1D0-51B, 1D0-51C), earning separate mdular certificatins in the related disciplines. Candidates wh earn all three f these mdular certificatins individually are als awarded the cmprehensive CIW Web Fundatins Assciate certificatin. Nte that the individual CIW Web Fundatins mdular exams d nt qualify fr the CIW CI certificatin. If yu are pursuing the CIW Fundatins path, yu must pass all three mdular exams r the cmprehensive CIW Web Fundatins Assciate exam. CIW Web Design series Having a wrking knwledge in the areas f Web design and e-cmmerce is a must fr a Web Design Prfessinal. This series is ideal fr any entry-level and mre experienced prfessinals wh wrk in the fields f Web site design, e-cmmerce and graphic design, as well as entrepreneurs wh want t be able t develp and manage their business nline. The Web Design series cnsists f tw specialist certificatins: CIW Web Design Specialist Web site design, develpment and management CIW E-Cmmerce Specialist e-cmmerce site develpment and management Each f these certificatins can be earned separately and has a crrespnding curse that prepares candidates t take the certificatin exam. CIW Web Develpment series The CIW Web Develpment Prfessinal certificatin prgram is an ambitius jurney fr the individual wh wants t excel in a career in Web and IT technlgies. CIW Faculty Institute Certificatin Partners has develped an IT faculty develpment prgram t help IT educatrs address the challenges f prviding affrdable and accessible training t faculty teaching IT prgrams. The CIW Faculty Institute is a structured Train-the-Trainer prgram designed t increase the availability f CIW training t academic educatrs. The CIW Faculty Institute prepares secndary and pst-secndary educatrs t becme CIW Certified Instructrs (CIW CIs) in classes taught using Official CIW Curriculum. All public educatrs are eligible t participate in CIW Faculty Institute sessins. Step 1: Take and pass the mst current versin f any current CIW exam (take the crrespnding CIW curse, if necessary, befre taking the exam). Step 2: Cmplete the CIW Certificatin Agreement by lgging int the CIW Candidate Infrmatin Center at (if yu have nt already cmpleted it nce cmpleted fr any certificatin, it applies t all subsequent certificatins). Step 3: Cmplete the CIW CI applicatin lcated at Step 4: Prvide dcumentatin t prve instructinal skills and/r experience. Step 5: Prvide prf that yu have attended a CIW class r CIW Faculty Institute, r pass an additinal higher-level CIW certificatin exam. Step 1: Pass a CIW certificatin exam All CIW CI candidates must pass at least ne CIW certificatin exam that is current and available at the time f their applicatin fr CIW Certified Instructr. All CIW CI candidates must take and pass the apprpriate CIW exam(s), earning the crrespnding CIW certificatin(s), in rder t teach any CIW curse(s) as a CIW CI. Nte that the individual CIW Web Fundatins mdular exams d nt qualify fr the CIW CI certificatin. If yu are pursuing the CIW Fundatins path, yu must pass all three mdular exams (CIW Internet Business Fundatins [1D0-51A], CIW Site Develpment Fundatins [1D0-51B] and CIW Netwrk Technlgy Fundatins [1D0-51C]). Alternatively, yu may take the cmprehensive CIW Web Fundatins Assciate exam (1D0-510). CIW exam registratin CIW certificatin exams are ffered thrugh Prmetric and VUE testing centers, and thrugh CIW Certificatin Testing Centers (CTCs). Yur schl may already be a CTC. CIW Faculty Institutes als include exams administered thrugh the CTC prgram. Register as early as pssible t reserve a cnvenient time, date and center fr yur exam. The fllwing infrmatin is necessary t register, s please have it ready when yu call r g nline: Testing service prvider candidate identificatin number Prmetric and VUE will create a unique candidate ID number fr yu. This number links yu t the exams yu take. Please be sure t use the same identificatin number each time yu register fr a CIW exam. Yur cmplete cmpany address, mailing address, phne and fax number D nt use Pst Office bx addresses. As yu register fr subsequent exams, infrm the registrar f any address changes. The changes will be sent t the CIW Candidate Infrmatin Center database. This address is where yur certificatins will be mailed when yu pass exams that meet all requirements fr any given certificatin path. Please make sure yu use an accurate and cmplete address. 11 CIW Certified Instructr (CIW CI) Prgram Guide 11 Taking an exam with Prmetric T register with Prmetric fr certificatin exams in the United States and Canada, cntact Prmetric at (800) 380-EXAM (3926) r use the Prmetric nline registratin at Outside the United States and Canada, candidates shuld cnsult the Prmetric Web site at fr registratin phne numbers in their cuntry r regin. Befre calling Prmetric, cnsult the Prmetric registratin Web site t lcate the nearest Authrized Prmetric Testing Centers. When yu call, tell the custmer service representative that yu want t register fr a CIW exam. Taking an exam with VUE T register with VUE wrldwide, use the nline registratin at Befre registering fr yur first CIW exam at VUE, yu must btain a VUE testing ID fr the CIW prgram. During yur exam registratin prcess, yu must call a VUE registratin center t link yur testing ID with yur accunt infrmatin. Please allw at least three business days t cmplete the first exam registratin prcess with VUE. Yu may als register in persn at any VUE testing center. VUE centers can accept same-day exam registratin if space is available. Taking an exam at the CIW Faculty Institute / CIW CTC Candidates wh plan t take a Faculty Institute curse in preparatin fr becming a CIW CI may be ffered the ptin t take the certificatin exam in the classrm thrugh the CIW Certified Testing Center (CTC) prgram. If this pprtunity is available t yu, yu will nt have t register with Prmetric r VUE. Cntact yur prgram crdinatr fr mre infrmatin n availability f this prgram. Preparing fr exams Objectives fr CIW exams are included in the apprpriate curse materials. Yu may als btain cmplete details fr any given exam n ur Web site at The day f the exam Arrive at the testing center at least 15 minutes befre the exam is scheduled t begin. Allw apprximately tw hurs t cmplete the exam. Bring the fllwing items with yu: A current pht ID, such as a driver s license r a cmpany badge (must cntain a pht) A secnd frm f ID with a signature, such as a majr credit card, a passprt r a student ID card Testing methds All exams are administered n a persnal cmputer. The exams are clsed bk, and are graded n a pass/fail basis. If yu fail an exam, yu may retake it at additinal cst, as many times as yu need t pass. See the CIW Web site fr cmplete details f the CIW Exam Retake Plicy: Befre retaking an exam, yu shuld prepare further by studying CIW curse materials r attending curses at a CIW AAP r a CIW ATP. Exam structure CIW exams fllw a traditinal exam structure. These certificatin exams: Cntain apprximately 50 t 90 multiple-chice questins.

Each sectin may have a different passing scre, depending n the structure f that exam. Items frm each sectin are delivered randmly. Have a time limit. Mst CIW exam perids are between 75 and 90 minutes each. Are graded based n the percentage f questins answered crrectly. Yu must earn a passing scre n the mst current versin f a CIW exam t qualify fr CIW CI status. Allw yu t mark and review any previusly answered questins. Require that yu answer all questins. Unanswered questins will be marked as incrrect and will affect yur final scre. When the exam is finished, yu will be given an fficial CIW Exam Scre Reprt. Certificatin Partners strngly recmmends that yu keep a cpy f all Prmetric and VUE exam scre reprts fr yur wn recrds. The CIW prgram cannt issue duplicate exam reprts. VUE and Prmetric may be able t issue duplicate reprts, but the CIW prgram des nt cntrl this prcess. CIW als requires that yu lg n and verify yur address in the CIW Candidate Infrmatin Center. Yu will need yur scre reprt the first time yu lg in t this site. The CIW Candidate Infrmatin Center allws yu t review yur cntact infrmatin, make address crrectins, review exam results, view yur certificatin histry, publish yur certificatin transcript via , and dwnlad lgs. Yur students will als be required t verify their addresses in this database, as well, s be prepared t tell them abut this. Step 2: CIW Certificatin Agreement Terms All CIW certificatin candidates, including CIW CI candidates, must cmplete the CIW Certificatin Agreement befre their certificatin status is finalized. This Agreement details the cntractual terms t which each CIW CI candidate will be bund. CIW Exams are the intellectual prperty f Certificatin Partners, LLC; they are cnfidential and all are prtected by cpyright law, trade secret law and internatinal treaties. This intellectual prperty is made available t yu, the examinee, slely fr the purpse f becming certified in the technical area referenced in the title f the CIW exam. Yu are expressly prhibited frm disclsing, publishing, reprducing r transmitting any CIW exam, in whle r in part, in any frm r by any means, verbal r written, electrnic r mechanical, fr any purpse, withut the prir written permissin f Certificatin Partners, LLC. The agreement can be cmpleted by lgging n t the CIW Candidate Infrmatin Center at Candidates will need their exam scre reprts the first time they lg in. If yu d nt have a scre reprt r are unable t lg in, please request a lgin reset via using the frm at Step 3: CIW CI applicatin Instructr candidates must submit an applicatin t be enrlled in the CIW CI prgram. The applicatin lists cntact infrmatin and prgram requirements. The instructr applicatin is available at: Step 4: Instructinal Skills Requirement Candidates fr CIW Certified Instructr status must prvide dcumentatin as prf f instructinal and presentatin skills. Yu can als submit the supprting paperwrk during this time. Hwever, yu will nt be granted CIW CI status until yu have submitted all required dcumentatin. Technical instructr certificatin If yu have a Technical Instructr Certificatin, yu can prve that yu are a Certified Instructr by including a cpy f yur Certified Instructr certificate. Examples f accepted certified instructr prgrams include: Certified Technical Trainer (CTT). Micrsft (MCT). Nvell (CNI). Ltus. Santa Cruz Operatins. Cisc Systems. Sun Micrsystems. Trainer Perfrmance Mnitring & Assessment (TPMA) (UK-based). Instructrs teaching IT curses in learning centers If yu are an Instructr wh has been teaching IT curses in a learning center envirnment:, yu can: Prvide a letter f recmmendatin frm yur current emplyer stating that yu are qualified t instruct and have ne r mre years f IT instructinal experience. Prvide a cmbinatin f a current résumé, tw letters f recmmendatin (frm previus emplyers) and 10 student evaluatins frm technlgy-based curses. AND Prvide dcumentatin that yu have attended an instructinal presentatin skills r Train-the- Trainer curse that has been pre-apprved by Certificatin Partners. Certified academic teacher with IT r nn-it teaching experience If yu are a teacher in an academic institutin with experience in IT r nn-it subject matter with a valid teaching certificate, yu can: Prvide a cpy f yur state-accredited teaching certificate. If yu are a teacher wh has taken (r will take) a CIW Faculty Institute, yu can: Submit prf f CIW Faculty Institute attendance. Step 5: CIW Web Fundatins Curse Attendance CIW CI candidates must prvide prf f having attended a CIW Web Fundatins class fr CIW CI apprval. This requirement may be waived if yu meet ne f the fllwing requirements: If yu are a certified technical instructr, such as MCT, CTT r CNI.

CIW CI Certificatin After yu have met all certificatin requirements, yur certificatin recrd in the CIW Candidate Infrmatin Center will be updated. Certificatin Partners will cmmunicate with yu via and pstal mail. Yu must keep yur cntact infrmatin current with Certificatin Partners by lgging in t the CIW Candidate Infrmatin center regularly and verifying yur address. CIW CI prgram administratin The CIW Certificatin Department supprts yur training and certificatin effrts. A prfessinal CIW Certificatin Department staff member is available t answer yur questins r supprt needs wrldwide. Applicant screening All CIW CI applicants are screened carefully befre being accepted int the prgram. Applicants are evaluated based n their qualificatins and the prerequisite criteria. Cntinuing certificatin requirements Upn cmpletin f the initial CIW certificatin, an instructr certificatin will remain valid, with the exceptin f a breach r terminatin f the Certificatin Agreement, fr as lng as the curses that the instructr teaches remain current. Nte that Certificatin Partners reserves the right t release additinal Cntinuing Certificatin Requirements (CCRs) in the future. After that, all current CIW CIs must fulfill the CCRs t stay in the prgram. These requirements may include details n testing, curse attendance r update training. The audit may be a rutine quality-assurance audit, r it may be precipitated by student cmplaints r by an instructr's failure t meet r maintain certificatin requirements. Prbatin The instructr prbatin plicy helps ensure student satisfactin and instructinal quality. This plicy is nt meant t discurage r threaten instructrs. Instead, the intent is t establish frmal standards f instructin and t encurage adherence t these standards. Reasns fr prbatin Reasns fr prbatin may include: Cnsistent negative student evaluatins r feedback. Discussing the CIW prgram and/r CIW Official Curriculum in a negative manner. CIW AAP cmplaint(s). CIW ATP cmplaint(s). Teaching an authrized CIW curse fr which yu are nt certified. Signing curse certificates fr anther instructr. Cheating n CIW exams. Vilating cntractual agreement(s). Pr perfrmance during an audit. The CIW Certificatin Agreement des nt prhibit instructrs frm teaching nn-authrized CIW curses at sites that are nt authrized as CIW AAPs r ATPs. Hwever, the instructr may nt use CIW instructr lgs with such curses nr may the instructr represent himself r herself as a CIW Certified Instructr. Prbatin guidelines In the case f a pending prbatin, the fllwing steps will be in effect. Any wrngding will be verified; evidence will be reviewed with the apprpriate parties befre any actin is taken. The prbatin perid will be at least three mnths, and is subject t extensin at the discretin f Certificatin Partners. The instructr will be ntified via registered mail with itemized reasns fr the prbatin. During prbatin, the instructr cannt becme certified fr any new CIW prgrams. The instructr will receive recmmendatins fr imprvement. At the end f the prbatin perid, a fllw-up audit may be cnducted and a determinatin made regarding the status f the instructr. If imprvement is unsatisfactry, the instructr may be decertified and ntified via registered mail.

If the Certificatin Agreement f a CIW CI is terminated, then that individual will n lnger hld CIW CI status. Terminatin f the CIW Certificatin Agreement may als result in decertificatin f ther CIW credentials. Steps fr challenging terminatin f the CIW Certificatin Agreement Either party, upn 30 days ntice, may terminate the CIW Certificatin Agreement signed with Certificatin Partners, LLC. Certificatin Partners generally will explain why it is canceling the agreement. If yu believe the reasn given by Certificatin Partners is incrrect r invalid, yu may request an evaluatin f the reasn fr terminatin by using the fllwing steps. Yu must submit yur request within five business days f ntificatin f the cancellatin. Steps fr challenging terminatin f CIW certificatin status 1. Prvide a cpy f the ntice f terminatin. 2. Describe in detail the specific reasns why yu are challenging the terminatin. Include the date yu became certified, and as much general infrmatin as necessary. Please include specific details indicating why yu believe the reasn given fr terminatin is invalid. Yur challenge will nt be accepted fr evaluatin unless sufficient infrmatin and dcumentatin refuting the reasn(s) given fr terminatin are prvided. 3. Within five business days f ntificatin f terminatin, respnd by with Certificatin Status Challenge in the subject line. 4. Yur request will be acknwledged by . At that time, yu will receive either the result f the evaluatin r, if mre time is needed fr evaluatin, an estimate f when yu can expect a decisin.
