Since its inceptin in 2005, ur membership has grwn t mre than 1,100, with representatin frm all stakehlders invlved in the publicatin f medical research, including pharmaceutical, bitechnlgy, and device cmpanies, medical publicatins and cmmunicatins agencies, medical jurnal publishers and editrs, academia, and prfessinal medical writers. As a prfessinal assciatin, we are different frm ther types f rganizatins. By paying annual dues and attending ur educatinal prgrams such as the annual meeting, ur members are truly making an investment nt nly in themselves, but in elevating the verall prfessin. 4 Hw d I get invlved? ISMPP has a multitude f vlunteer cmmittees t engage members in their areas f interest. An annual member vlunteer drive is held each spring where members raise their hands t participate. 5 ISMPP Certified Medical Publicatin Prfessinal (CMPP) What is the ISMPP Certified Medical Publicatin Prfessinal (CMPP) exam? The CMPP exam assesses yur knwledge and experience in 4 dmains: Publicatin Plan Develpment, Tactical Plan Develpment, Publicatin Plan Implementatin, and Prfessinal Respnsibilities. Why shuld I take the exam? Passing the CMPP exam certifies yu as a medical publicatin prfessinal wh demnstrates the required knwledge and expertise in this increasingly specialized field. Becming a CMPP demnstrates yur cmmitment t uphlding gd publicatin practices t ensure adherence t ethical and transparent data disseminatin standards. Fr hw lng is my certificatin valid? Once earned, the CMPP credential is valid fr 5 years. Are there resurces available t prepare myself fr the exam? The Candidate Handbk and ther supprting infrmatin, which prvide details n eligibility, registratin, exam preparatin, and a cmprehensive listing f key references and resurces, can be fund n the ISMPP website at: What is the frmat f the CMPP exam? The exam is a cmputer-based test cnsisting f 150 multiple-chice questins cvering the 4 dmains mentined abve: Publicatin Plan Develpment, Tactical Plan Develpment, 5

6 Publicatin Plan Implementatin and Prfessinal Respnsibilities. Candidates are alltted 3 hurs t cmplete the exam. Hw d I apply fr the exam? Applicatins fr the CMPP exam can be dwnladed frm the ISMPP website ( Please refer t the Candidate Handbk fr full applicatin requirements. When and where can I take the exam? The exam is ffered twice annually, during 2 mnth-lng testing windws: March 1-31 and September 1-30, at apprved glbal testing centers. Candidates will receive a web link t a list f available test sites nce their applicatin fr examinatin has been prcessed and apprved, and scheduling begins. If yu cannt lcate a testing site near yu, please cntact r smarek@ismpp.rg fr additinal testing site ptins. Hw d I maintain my certificatin? As nted, the CMPP certificatin is valid fr 5 years. There are 2 clear paths t recertificatin, and certificants can chse ne: Cntinuing educatin (CE): Certificants may recertify by earning 75 CE credit hurs, ver 5 years, acrss the 4 dmains: Publicatin Plan Develpment, Tactical Plan Develpment, Publicatin Plan Implementatin and Prfessinal Respnsibilities. (An exceptin is in effect fr individuals certified in 2009 and 2010, because they have less time t meet recertificatin requirements). CMPP re-examinatin: Certificants may chse t sit fr the CMPP exam t earn their recertificatin. The exam must be taken and passed during the calendar year immediately preceding the year that their certificatin expires. Details f the recertificatin requirements can be fund at 6
