2 [Building] Site and Facilities Descriptin The [building] is 30 stries. Day ne, [Cmpany] will ccupy flrs 2 19 (n 13 th flr) fr a ttal f 17 flrs. A small teller branch will be lcated n the 1 st flr. The secnd flr will include the mail facility and several large cnference rms. With a generus number f cnference rms and mderate sized cubes (8 x8 and 8 x 10 ). Each flr has ptential fr apprximately 120 assciates. This equates t abut 2000 assciates in the building. Frm the current Real Estate relcatin plans, apprximately 1500 assciates have been identified t relcate t the new site between 12/97 and 5/98. The base building will have ne cable jack plate each with 2 data and 2 vice Categry 5 UTP runs per cube (ffice and cnference rms included). These wrkstatin cables will terminate in the Intermediate Distributin Frame (IDF) clset lcated n each flr (ne per flr). The IDFs are vertically stacked abve the Main Distributin Frame (MDF / Cmputer rm) which is lcated n the secnd flr. Frm each IDF 24 strands f multi-mde fiber will terminate in the MDF. In additin t these, 300 pair f UTP vice risers (cat 5) and 100 pair f UTP data risers (cat 5) will als terminate in the MDF. Frm the MDF, tw independent and diverse runs f 48 strands multi-mde and 12 strands single-mde fiber terminates in the [Campus Hub facility]. One set t the 2 nd flr cmputer rm. The ther set t the 4 th flr PBX facility. In additin t these, Time Warner, Bell Suth and ICG have each lcated facilities in the basement as well as have their wn rack n the cmputer rm fr circuit terminatin and service hand-ff. 3 Enterprise LAN/WAN Design The basic Enterprise LAN/WAN design is t prvide switched 10Mb Ethernet t every desktp. VLANs will be created via an Ethernet switch in each clset t span adjacent flrs starting frm the 3 rd flr (i.e. 3 4, 5 6, 7 8, 9 10, 11 12, 14 15, 16 17, 18 19). VLAN 1 n the Cisc switches is reserved fr Mgt. Access. VLAN 2 is reserved fr the Building Backbne. VLAN 3 will be used fr the minimal cnnectins required fr the secnd flr and is therwise reserved fr a future printer VLAN. VLANs 4 11 will be used fr the 8 primary user VLANs. VLAN 12 will be used fr a small grup f Client Services users (currently scheduled fr the 10 th flr) wh require IP nly access t the WAN, n Netware r ther prtcls. Reference diagrams fr individual flrs. In mst cases, at least ne General Purpse Netware server will be attached t each VLAN. In additin t this, any special departmental r Applicatin servers will als be attached t VLANs as apprpriate r required. IP addressing in the building will be in the 10.x private netwrk range (ref. RFC 1918). The range has been reserved fr the building. Reference spreadsheet fr details. Access t the rest f the Enterprise WAN will be via a new Switched Fast Eth. Campus Backbne infrastructure. The IP netwrks f the new bne will be and (25 bit mask). The bne will be cmprised f tw Eth. Switches, ne each in the [Campus Hub Facility 1] and the [Campus Hub Facility 2]. The [Campus Hub Facility 1] switch will be primary fr the netwrk. The [Campus Hub Facility 2] switch will be primary fr the netwrk. These netwrks are intended t be a up t ne anther in the event f a switch failure r ruter cnnectin failure. Since the rest f the Campus (and the legacy Enterprise WAN) is based n the [Legacy IP] netwrks, a cnnectin t the legacy netwrks is required. Initially this will be via the 7206 mini-cre plicy ruter. Eventually this will be migrated t the main ruter cre 7513 plicy ruter. Reference diagram fr details. A redundant cnnectin frm the [Legacy IP] netwrk is nt currently available but will be addressed at a later date as this prject as well as the [Campus Hub Facility 1] cntingency prject cntinue. VLAN Trunking In general, Odd VLANs will carry their primary trunk t MDF switch number 1 (NCCLTIJ02E1). Even VLANs t switch number 2 (NCCLTxx02E2). The rt bridge fr each VLAN shuld be the primary MDF switch assciated with that VLAN. The tw MDF switches will have three trunks between them. One fr VLANs 1, 2, and 3. One fr the remaining even VLANs, and ne fr the remaining dd VLANs. Each IDF switch will include a redundant Supervisry Mdule (SM). Bth mdules will be cnfigured exactly the same. Frm each IDF switch Supervisry Mdule, a fiber prt will cnnect t each MDF switch. The primary trunk fr the VLAN assigned t a flr shuld be dedicated t that VLAN (i.e. n ISL). Fr trunks that need t carry nly a single VLAN, the trunk prt shuld nt use ISL, this will

4 alleviate unnecessary verhead. The secnd SM prt will be defined fr ISL and carry VLAN 1 as well as the up path fr the VLAN fr that flr.

6 Ruter Cnfiguratin Tw Cisc 7507 ruters will be used at the [building]. Each will have redundant rute prcessrs and five Fast Eth. prt adapters distributed acrss three VIP2-40 interface prcessrs. With the exceptin f VLAN 12, each interface/sub-interface will be cnfigured with IP and IPX as described in the IP Address detail spreadsheet. IPX RIP will be cnfigured n VLAN interfaces (except VLAN 12) with standard (30 secnd) bradcast interval. Within the building, EIGRP will be used fr IP and IPX ruting between ruters. IPX RIP is required n each VLAN interface t cmmunicate with Netware servers. Since n ther ruters are scheduled t be implemented n any f the subnets in this building, n IP RIP (r RIPv2) is required and shuld be turned ff n VLANs Fr IP and IPX Campus Fast Eth. cnnectivity, EIGRP will be used initially. RIP redistributin will be handled by the Cre/Plicy ruter(s). In the event that nn-cisc ruters are required n the Campus Fast Eth. Backbne, RIP (RIP2) redistributin will be evaluated and addressed at that time. Switch Cnfiguratin Switch Name is defined in each drawing. They cnsist f state, city, building, flr number, E and switch number. (i.e. NCCLTxx15E1 fr Nrth Carlina, Charltte, [building], 15 th flr switch 1) The fllwing is a list f basic criteria. VTP Dmain is the building prefix. In this case NCCLTxx. Campus Backbne VTP Dmain will be NCCLTEC VLAN names shuld be defined as VTP Dmain_IP Segment Number/Subnet Mask.(i.e. NCCLTxx_ /23) System Prmpt shuld be the same as the device name. All prts (except trunks) in all switches shuld have PrtFast enabled. All prts (except trunks) in IDF switches shuld be set t Aut negtiate. In the IDF s the VLAN number (nt 1) shuld be used as the default VLAN fr all prts. (Except Trunks) The MDF switch will be manually cnfigured, prt by prt, fr each device.
