4 Introduction This section introduces the SPECTRUM Device Management documentation for Motorola Cable Data Link Protocol Cable Router devices. This introduction contains the following topics: Purpose and Scope Required Reading Supported Devices (Page 5) The SPECTRUM Model (Page 5) Purpose and Scope Use this document as a guide for managing the Motorola CDLP devices described on Page 5 with SPECTRUM management module SM-MOT1001. This document describes the icons, menus, and views that enable you to remotely monitor, configure, and troubleshoot Motorola CDLP devices through software models in your SPECTRUM database. Information specific to SM-MOT1001 is what is primarily included in this document. For general information about device management using SPECTRUM and explanations of SPECTRUM functionality and navigation techniques, refer to the topics listed under Required Reading. 5 Introduction Supported Devices The SPECTRUM management module SM- MOT1001 currently allows you to model a single Motorola CDLP device as described below. The Motorola RT - Motorola Cable Router is an IP device located at the headend of a Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) distribution network. It provides connections between IP hosts, Motorola s cable modems and connected subscribers. The Cable Router also manages all cable modem bandwidth. The SPECTRUM Model Supported Devices The model type for the Motorola CDLP device is MotCblRtr. Modeling results in the creation of Device icons that represent the devices and Application icons that represent their supported applications. The Device icons contain double-click zones and provide access to Icon Subviews menus that let you perform device management activities such as those listed in Tasks on Page 7. As Figure 1 shows, the appearance of the Device icons varies slightly depending on the kind of view it appears in. 14 Application Views Supported Applications Supported Applications SPECTRUM s applications can be grouped within two general categories as follows: Common Applications, below Device-Specific Applications (Page 14) Common Applications For the most part, these applications represent the non proprietary MIBs supported by your device. Listed below (beneath the title of the document that describes them) are some of the common applications currently supported by SPECTRUM. Note: The documents listed are available for viewing at: - TCP - System2 - UDP Miscellaneous Applications - FDDI Device-Specific Applications SPECTRUM imports the following device-level proprietary MIBs into its database: Cable Modem MIB Cable Router MIB These MIBs can be used in conjunction with SPECTRUM s optional customization products (referred to as the Level I Tool Kits) to create application models and views that display the condition of selected MIB objects. Routing Applications - Generic Routing - IP Routing MIB II Applications - SNMP - IP - ICMP Note: Aprisma Management Technologies can provide training, technical assistance, and custom engineering support services for creating application models and their associated views. This table contains information about the IP Routes for the Cable Router. Dest The destination IP address of this route. An entry with a value of is considered a default route. Any assignment (implicit or otherwise) of an instance of this field to a value x must be rejected if the bitwise logical-and of x with the value of the corresponding instance of the criproutemask field is not equal to x. Next Hop On remote routes, the address of the next system en route; otherwise this value is Mask The mask to be logical-anded with the destination address before being compared to the value in Dest. For those systems that do not support arbitrary subnet masks, an agent constructs this value by reference to the IP Address Class. Any assignment (implicit or otherwise) of an instance of this field to a value x must be rejected if the bitwise logical-and of x with the value of the corresponding instance of the Dest field is not equal to Dest. If Index The ifindex value which identifies the local interface through which the next hop of this route should be reached. The default value is 0. Metric1 The primary routing metric for this route. This metric should have a value no less than one. The default value is 1. Metric 2 - Metric5 An alternate routing metric for this route. If this metric is not used, its value should be set to -1. This field is currently not used by the router. SPECTRUM Enterprise Manager Page16 Motorola CDLP

SPECTRUM Enterprise Manager Page20 Motorola CDLP

21 Cable Router Tables Modem Ip Map Table View Default Upstream Class Index The index of the Service Level to be used as the Default Modem Upstream Service Level Class. If a value is not specified for the modemupstreamclassindex when a new instance of the modemtable is created (either by the operator or when a modem is autoprovisioned), then the modem will be assigned to the Service Level indicated by the value of this field. Setting this field to a value of zero disables Upstream Service Levels for those modems assigned to the Default Upstream Service Level Class. Default Downstream Class Index The index of the Service Level to be used as the Default Modem Downstream Service Level Class. If a value is not specified for this field when a new instance of the modemtable is created (either by the operator or when a modem is autoprovisioned), then the modem will be assigned to the Service Level indicated by the value of this field. Setting this field to a value of zero disables Downstream Service Levels for those modems assigned to the Default Downstream Service Level Class. Docs Auto Discovery Setting this value to enable will cause the router to automatically discover and provision DOCSIS modems connected to the router over the RF network. Setting it to volatile will do the same but the data will be lost when the router is restarted.
