Figure 1.8 The areas shaded in blue are the areas f the screen that any VMD detected will result in n alarm being triggered. VMD in areas nt shaded in blue will result in an alarm being triggered. In the VMD windw shwn in Figure 1.8, mtin is depicted by the grid changing clur frm green t red, fr the areas that mtin has been detected. Red areas will nt shw up in the shaded blue areas as these areas are excluded frm triggering events. This enables the user t select exactly which parts f the screen shuld have alarm triggering fr VMD detectin. Even if certain areas f the screen have been masked ut in blue, VMD detected in these areas is saved as part f the data files t allw a Smart Search capability n stred data. *** PLEASE NOTE *** VMD Parameters are used fr bth VMD and Smart Search. Smart search WILL NOT WORK withut the VMD parameters being set-up PLANETCCTV INC

13 The VMD settings are defined as fllws: Pixel: This parameter represents the percentage change in each individual pixel. The range is frm least sensitive t mst sensitive, 0-100%. A figure f 100% wuld result in a mtin-detected flag being raised if there was any change in a particular pixel. The figure f 70 shwn in the graphic wuld result in nly the pixels that have mre than a 30% change being flagged as having detected mtin. In this way, all f the pixels in the picture are measured against the previus frame and if any frame shws a percentage change greater than the 30% - the figure selected fr pixels, a flag is raised against the pixel. Blck: The blck setting represents ne f the green grid blcks shwn in the figure Each blck represents 32 x 32 = 1024 pixels. The blck parameter is a measure f the number f pixels within a grid blck that have changed. The blck parameter wrks in the same way, as the Pixel parameter except it measures the number f pixels flagged in a particular blck. If the blck parameter is set t 70 as it is in Figure 2.10, if mre than 30% f the pixels are flagged as having detected mtin, the blck is flagged as having detected mtin. Frame: The frame parameter is a measure f the number f adjacent blcks that have changed within a captured frame. If, fr example, nly 20 blcks have been left un-shaded fr VMD, and a parameter f 90 is chsen fr frame setting, 2 f the blcks adjacent t each ther (10 %) wuld have t have been flagged as having mtin detected fr the frame t be flagged as having mtin detected. This will result in a VMD event being raised PLANETCCTV INC

14 Figure 1.9 The Vide Mtin Detectin ptins are detailed belw. All cameras have VMD enabled all the time. The fllwing ptins depict when VMD actually triggers an event. Never: Selecting this ptin results in n VMD events triggering alarms. Always: Selecting this radi buttn will result in VMD events being triggered at all times. Armed: Selecting this radi buttn will result in VMD events being triggered nly when the system is armed. Disarmed: Selecting this radi buttn will result in VMD events being triggered nly when the system is disarmed. Recrd at specific times: Selecting the apprpriate clr will result in VMD events being triggered at specific times ver a 7-day perid. During the times shwn in Figure 1.9 where the area is shaded white, VMD events will nt trigger i.e. during wrking hurs. At all ther times, VMD events will trigger PLANETCCTV INC
