Fr mre details, visit Micrsft's web site at If Visual SurceSafe 6.0 is installed and yu want t upgrade t Visual SurceSafe 2005, yu must first uninstall Prficy Machine Editin, restart yur cmputer t avid ptential perating system crruptin, and then uninstall Visual SurceSafe 6.0. Yu can then install Visual SurceSafe 2005, and then reinstall Machine Editin. If yu want t migrate yur data and retain the revisin/histry infrmatin, please cntact GE Intelligent Platfrms. Micrsft retired Visual SurceSafe frm mainstream supprt n July 10, 2012 with extended supprt ending n July 11, If yu are currently using VSS, yu can cntinue t d s, and can use this DVD t install the latest SIMs fr Prficy Change Management. Supprt f Subversin (SVN) as a repsitry is new t this versin f Prficy Change Management. Belw is a set f steps detailing a sample install and setup f SVN as the Prficy Change Management repsitry. Example SVN Installatin The fllwing prcedure utlines the steps required t implement SVN as the Prficy Change Management repsitry. SVN is the Apache Subversin package fr Windws. This prcedure is a guideline fr demnstratin purpses nly and may differ frm the steps required when using ther server packages. 1. Install 32-bit SVN versin (r greater). NOTE: The svnadmin and svnserve utilities are required. 2. Install the Prficy Change Management Server with SVN as yur repsitry. Fr mre infrmatin, see "T install the Prficy Change Management Server" in the Getting Started Guide. 3. Create a new SVN repsitry by pening a Windws cmmand prmpt, and then running svnadmin create [chsen path]; where [chsen path] is the lcatin f the SVN repsitry. We recmmend: C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server\SVN. NOTE: When yu try t use an MS-DOS cmmand that cntains a path statement, yu may receive an errr message if yu use a path statement that cntains spaces. T reslve this issue, place qutatin marks arund each path parameter that cntains a space. Fr example, svnadmin create "c:\prgram Files (x86)\testdirectry". 4. Perfrm the fllwing steps t cnfigure the newly created SVN repsitry. Fr example, please see the Example_Cnfig_SVN.zip file. a. Cnfigure the authz file t add a user accunt with the fllwing entry: fxmgrserver = rw. This file is lcated in the C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server\SVN\cnf flder. NOTE: Make sure that the cnf flder has read/write privileges. 9 System Requirements Page 9 f 11 b. Cnfigure the passwd file t add a passwrd fr the accunt yu just created with the entry, fxmgrserver = fxmgr. This file is lcated in the C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server\SVN\cnf flder. c. T set the SVN system lcatin fr username and passwrd infrmatin, cnfigure the svnserve.cnf file t specify the lcatin f the authrizatin and passwrd files. The svnserve.cnf file is lcated in the C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server\SVN\cnf flder. Under the [general]sectin, remve the cmments marker frm the fllwing lines: ann-access = nne passwrd-db = passwd authz-db = authz d. Create a batch file named pre-revprp-change.bat cntaining the text exit 0, and then add the batch file t the C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server\SVN\hks flder. 5. In the Windws cmmand prmpt, create a Windws service fr svnserve with the fllwing cmmand line: sc create SVNSERVE binpath= "\"C:\Prgram Files (x86)\subversin\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --listen-prt cmpressin 0 --memry-cache-size cache-txdeltas yes -r \"C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server\"" start= aut DisplayName= "SVNServer Service" NOTES: This path depends n where Subversin was installed. The escaped \* characters fund in the cmmand line are required t delimit the path as a parameter t the svnserve tl and svnserve itself. If yu cpy and paste this cmmand line t the Windws cmmand prmpt, yu may need t change the characters t real duble qutes if they are curled qutes in these instructins. 6. Run the Prficy Change Management ServerCnfig.exe file, which is lcated in the C:\Prgram Files (x86)\prficy\prficy Machine Editin\fxManager\Server flder, and then cnfirm r cnfigure the fllwing infrmatin. a. In the Server Descriptin field, enter the hstname f the cmputer. b. In the User Name field, cnfirm r enter fxmgrserver. c. In the Passwrd field, cnfirm r enter fxmgr. NOTE: The user name and passwrd can be changed in the SVN repsitry. They are lcated in the cnf/authz and cnf/passwd files. d. In the SVN Repsitry field, enter svn://<servername>:9999, where <servername> is the name f the server. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the <servername> is lwer case General Electric Cmpany. *Indicates a trademark f the General Electric Cmpany r its subsidiaries

The wrking directry will be c:\fx. If this directry already exists, remve it first. 7. Cnfigure the Prficy Change Management Server service t depend n the SVN Server service, in additin t the standard RPCSS service using the fllwing cmmand. sc cnfig fxserver depend= RPCSS/SVNSERVE Supprted Prduct Mdules Belw is a list f custm prject supprt mdules included n the Change Management installatin DVD. A custm prject mdule is a grup f cnfiguratin files and scripts that let yu manage prjects f that prject type n a Change Management system. Yu must select the desired mdules when yu install the Change Management Server/Client system. Yu may als have t update certain files based n the cnfiguratin f yur system and netwrk.
