1 Studi Sftware Update 8.0 Release Ntes Previus Studi Release: 7.7 Supprted Equipment PC: Z97 Offline Studi Operating System: Windws XP (Service Pack 3) r higher; extensive testing specifically perfrmed n Win 7 32/64 bit and Win bit Summary: All included Studi applicatins have been validated fr cmpatibility with previusly created Akrmetrix Studi file frmats. Hwever, nte that phase image files created with Studi 8.0 cannt be pened with lder versins f Surface Analysis due t the new 12 bit data acquisitins. A stand alne tl t migrate 12 bit t 8 bit is in develpment and will be release as a standalne dwnlad in the cming weeks. Imprtant bug fixes and added features are listed belw. This list des nt include all reslved bugs and added features. Additinally, sme knwn pen issues are listed, with wrk-arunds where applicable. Update Prcedure: 32-bit 3GB Switch: In rder t increase the usable memry fr a single prgram in running 32-bit Windws 7, Akrmetrix recmmends taking the fllwing steps. This includes all currently installed equipment PCs. Offline PCs running 64-bit Surface Analysis shuld nt perfrm these steps. 1) In 32-bit Windws 7 click Start at the bttm left f the screen 2) In the Start Search bx type in cmd and press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER 3) A User Accunt Cntrl windw may appear. Click Yes t prceed. 4) In the cmmand prmpt Type: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 and hit ENTER 5) Restart the cmputer 6) Repeat steps 1-3 7) In the cmmand prmpt Type: bcdedit and hit ENTER. Cnfirm that the increaseuserva field at the end f the shwn list shws ) Clse the windw Install Studi 8.0 Install all applicatins fr Studi 8.0 by launching the prvided file Akrmetrix Studi 8.0 Installer x86[r x64].exe. Uninstalling lder Studi applicatins is nt required prir t launching this file, as this will be dne autmatically. A cmputer restart shuld be perfrmed after the install. Take nte t nly install the x86 versin fr 32 bit systems and x64 fr 64 bit systems. Nte that all current equipment PCs in the field are 32 bit. Additinally a new versin f Interface Analysis is available fr dwnlad with this launch. This new feature will fllw the same licensing requirements as the previus build and has n functinal changes with the exceptin f being able t pen the 12 bit displacement files created by Studi 8.0. Key Feature Changes r Additins: Autmated Reprt Generatr An entirely new sftware slutin fr cmmunicating Akrmetrix results is included with the Studi 8.0 release. T help users understand this extensive feature a separate instructinal vide (YuTube link here) is prvided alng with these release ntes. The Autmated Reprt Generatr exists within Surface Analysis and uses file Metadata t autmatically create a warpage reprt including gauge plts and tables, alng with graphical warpage utputs. New Metadata has been added t further supprt reprting. Page 1 f 7

2 Metadata Settings Varius new Metadata Settings have been added t Surface Measurement and Thermal Prfiler t further identify the data capture during a given prfile r measurement. Specifically: Prduct ID, Lt ID, Operatr ID, and Test ID. Enable Unpainted Sample Measurement via 12 bit Data Acquisitins Studi 8.0 enables 12-bit shadw miré fr users with Gig-E cameras. 12-bit measurements utilize a greater bit depth fr shadw miré images, grayscale changing frm t , allwing fr unpainted samples and wider lighting ranges t be measured at imprved reslutin. An example f an unpainted wafer is shwn belw. Recipe Based Sftware Studi 8.0 shifts t a recipe based apprach fr wrkflw in Surface Measurement. The recipe apprach allws users t capture test and analysis settings in a single file type t be reused r shared amngst different users r different systems. In Surface Measurement input temperature prfiles, ROI and Part Tracking setup, alng with varius measurement settings are nw saved within a recipe file. Multi-ROI and Part Tracking Integratin Numerus Akrmetrix sftware features within Surface Measurement have nw been integrated tgether. Multi-ROI capabilities, riginally cntained nly in Real Time Analysis (RTA) are nw available t all users. Additinally, user specified regins and Part Tracked regins can be bth used within the same measurement. Finally, bth Multi- ROI and Part Tracking have been unlcked within DFP/CXP sftware. 3 File Tagging Studi 8.0 prvides means t use Metadata variables t ppulate filenames and different labels. The frmat fr these tags is: <MetadataName>. Fr example, the new Autsave functinality in Surface Measurement (discussed later n), by default, uses the fllwing tags <TestID>_<RiName>. In the belw example TestID = 5 and RiName = Regin0001, thus the regin 1 file wuld be named 5_Regin0001.akx_phase. Increased Memry Limitatin via 64-bit Sftware Studi 8.0 is nw available in either 32-bit r 64-bit installs. Offline Studi Sftware has been validated t run in a 64-bit OS. Akrmetrix will sn migrate t shipping 64-bit PCs n new equipment. Nise Filter in Pst Prcessing and Autmated Image Quality tracking via Phase Amplitude Threshld in Surface Analysis Phase Amplitude has been used fr nise filtering fr many years n shadw miré data. Hwever, if lighting settings changes r usable data was lst frm the riginal Phase Amplitude setting, nthing culd be dne. T imprve this feature Phase Amplitude Threshld can nw als be set in Surface Analysis. This functin can even decrease the phase amplitude threshld n a file saved frm Surface Measurement. This functin exists at the 1-ff and batch level. Surface Analysis tracks max and min Phase Amplitude f a given phase image A percentage f pints masked by Phase Amplitude Threshld is shwn during slider adjustment Phase Amplitude range f the image measures image quality Studi 8.0 Features: - Surface Measurement: Supprted n Z97 PCs Phase Amplitude Min and Max are shwn fr each measurement result ROI, allwing the user t make an immediate assessment f phase image quality. New Recipe Interface (Des nt require Real Time Analysis RTA license). RTA license is still required t set pass/warning/fail parameters fr a gauge. 4 - Thermal Prfiler: - Surface Analysis Default ROI name is nw XXXX starting with 0001 and increasing in number. ROI names can be changed by the user. ROI name is used cmmnly as a Metadata tag (<RiName>). Part Tracking regins are nw labeled as PTXXXX starting with PT0001 t distinguish them frm user defined regins. Phase/Displacement Autsave ptins are nw available within measurements. This increases thrughput if within Surface Measurement if taking repeated rm temperature measurements. An example can be seen under the File Tagging feature shwn previusly. DIC utput files are nw cmpatible with lder Vic-3D sftware versins (2009 and later) The Output Windw fr a manual acquisitin in Surface Measurement nw defaults t a shrink t fit view if displacement/phase/surface images are larger than the windw DAQ Fringe Height has been updated t a take mre iteratins ver a shrter verall range t imprve DAQ Fringe Height calibratin accuracy New Metadata Settings and Tags have als been implemented in Thermal Prfiler. TestID is essentially replacing PrfileRunName fr Studi 7.7 and earlier. Phase calculatins are nw dne with flating pint numbers increasing precisin. The Crp functin has been remved frm single phase and displacement files, as it was redundant with the Partitin functin Intensity and Surface Image data is nw retained after an image rtatin in X/Y Page 4 f 7

5 Batch prcessing is nw perfrmed with multi-cre CPU prcessing, increasing prcessing speed f analyze and generate utput. In batch prcessing the new Cnvert tab can be used t cnvert displacement files t phase image files. In batch analyze when displacement files are used t create new displacement files the label md is nw added t the file name. This keeps users frm ver-writing riginal measurement data. In batch analyze files can be selected as active r inactive manually by the user t be excluded frm analysis, generate utput, r reprting. New Cmmn Z-Settings have been added t batch t ptinally keep preset Z-scale settings frm updating as well as allwing Chrd graph scales t match the verall data set. These ptins can be seen in the batch analyze screensht further belw. Displacement files can nw be created during the Analyze prtin f batch prcessing t cmpliment skipping the Generate Output step when using Autmated Reprt Generatr Additinal cntext menu interactin in batch analyze allws navigatin t a files cntaining flder in Windws BatchResults.txt files are nw saved t each active tp-level flder when batch analysis is cmplete Multiple surce flders can nw be laded in batch analyze. 6 Key Bug Fixes: Anntatins in Studi n lnger can be shifted when right r middle clicking, keeping users frm unintended shifts in regins, partitins, masks, etc. - Surface Analysis: Knwn Issues: Fixed an unhandled exceptin when switching tabs while editing a User Defined Plane Rtatin Clumn frmatting and significant figures nw match fr all gauges between the BatchResults.txt file and the shwn batch analysis results Adjusted batch crp t return the crrect regin when Layut Behavir is set t Preserve Layut Fixed crrelatin issues between displayed cplanarity n 3D graph, displacement, surface, and gauge tabs when temprary mask files are verlaid n the data Physical dimensins were nt being crrectly placed n 3D and Cntur graphs when physical dimensin data was prvided. The physical dimensins shuld nw be seen in all utput graphs when selected. Chrd graphs nw crrectly display Psitin Alng [XXX] in the fter depending n the apprpriate chrd type, instead f all saying Psitin Alng Diagnals - Surface Measurement After using Part Tracking and then disabling Part Tracking, Acquire will appear as grayed ut when attempting t acquire manually created regins. A simple wrkarund is t right-click inside f a created regin, where Acquire will be enabled. - DFP Surface Measurement Accuracy check mde in DFP Surface Measurement has been remved. In rder t verify step height measurements a single phase image f tw planes can be taken and analyzed in Surface Analysis using the Step Height feature. Page 6 f 7
