2 Logos Challenge: I was assigned to create various logos for companies. Solution: I researched logos of similar companies to make appropriate color and font choices. I then created the logos using Adobe Illustrator and created mock-ups in Adobe Photoshop.

7 Conceptual Path Challenge: To create a logo for a Mexican Restaurant. Solution: I started off with researching the types of food, drink, ingredients and places famous for Mexican cuisine. I then created thumbnail sketches of my ideas. I then found the fonts that best fit my concept of a modern design. I then created my swatches based on my research and photos of agave plants. Using my colors and fonts, I try different variations of my logo idea to find the one that works the best.

9 Corporate Identity Challenge: To create a corporate identity for a company. Solution: I created the corporate identity for A-1 Fence and Patio using Adobe InDesign.
10 Personal Identity Challenge: To create a personal identity, including a logo, business card, letterhead, and envelope. Solution: I designed my logo using Pantone Colors in Adobe Illustrator. I then created a double sided business card, letterhead, and envelope in Adobe InDesign.
11 Print Challenge: To create a t-shirt design for a charity event. Solution: I created a design for the Sunshine Foundation s annual 5k using Pantone spot colors in Adobe Illustrator. I then printed the finished design in separations to ensure correct placement of spot colors.
12 Ad Design Challenge: To create a series of four magazine ads. Solution: I chose Thermo Scientific and researched the ads in scientific journals and magazines. I chose high quality stock images, and edited them in Photoshop, obtained the vector logo of Thermo Scientific, and designed the layout in Adobe InDesign.

14 Ad Design Challenge: To create a series of four billboard ads. Solution: I chose Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and researched the current exhibits and chose high quality stock images, and edited them in Photoshop. I then obtained the vector logo and then designed the layout in Adobe InDesign.

16 Ad Design Challenge: To create three black and white newspaper ads for a company that are three different sizes, (full page, half page, and quarter page). Solution: I created a logo for an accountant in Adobe Illustrator, and found high quality stock photos that fit the advertisement. I then designed the advertisements in Adobe InDesign.
17 Ad Design Challenge: To create four directory ads at a fast pace. Solution: I created logos in Adobe Illustrator and then created the advertisements in Adobe InDesign. I focused on typography, contrast, and hierarchy to get the message across.
18 Layout Design Challenge: To create a layout for an art book using a grid layout. Solution: I chose French Impressionism and Post Impressionism pieces from the Art Institute of Chicago as my focus. I designed a grid using the master pages feature in Adobe InDesign, and arranged the text and pictures accordingly.

20 Layout Design Challenge: To design a booklet, tray card, and disc label for a jewel case CD. Solution: I chose to design the booklet, tray card, and disc label based on an album cover that I created for an actual client. I designed all of the pieces in Adobe InDesign, and created embossing and distressed leather effects using Adobe Photoshop.

22 Package Design Challenge: To design the logo and cereal box of a bran cereal that is alphabet shaped. Solution: I created a logo for the cereal using Adobe Illustrator. I then created a mascot in Adobe Illustrator, and then added shadows and highlights in Photoshop. I photographed some cereal and then composited the image into an existing stock image of a bowl of milk. I created the layout for the box in Adobe InDesign.

24 Branding Challenge: To work in a group and create the branding identity of a coffee house. Solution: As a group we decided on a color palette, logo, and font choice to use for each contribution. The logo was designed by classmate Aly Sutton. I created the take-home menu, the menu boards, and the directory ad using Adobe InDesign.
