8 Surces Auxiliary Surces In additin t playing streaming music, yu can cnnect up t six additinal audi surces. Examples f such surces are: Hme Theater System CD Changer Satellite Radi Wireless Micrphne Receiver MP3 Player AM/FM Tuner * Each auxiliary input can be remtely cntrlled via the keypad using the built-in IR pass-thrugh. (see page 24 fr mre infrmatin ) Playlist Frmats Playlists fr can be created thrugh Windws Media Player (.WPL frmat) r itunes (.XML frmat), and must cnsist f sngs in the.m4a,.m4b,.mp3,.mp4 and.aac frmats. The Manager will nt play sngs f ther frmats. Please nte that sme music purchased frm the itunes stre may be encrypted (if it has an.m4p extensin) and nt supprted. The nly current way t play encrypted music via is t use a sessin f itunes playing directly n yur PC as ne f the 6 analg surces. Windws Media Player is a trademark f Micrsft, Inc., registered in the US and ther cuntries. itunes is a trademark f Apple Inc., registered in the US and ther cuntries

9 Zne Output Wiring Residential (8 Ω) Speaker Wiring There are 6 distinct znes n the 8 Ω system (A6X6A8). Each zne can supprt 40 watts f pwer (20 watts per each channel). 18 AWG wire shuld be sufficient fr mst residential applicatins. Fr wire runs lnger than 300 feet, it is recmmended t use 16 AWG. We suggest using plenum rated wire fr all installatins. Fr an 8 Ω system, the left channel (L+) cnnectin is lcated n the far left and the right channel (R+) is lcated n the far right. Their respective cmmns (-) are the tw cnnectins in the center. Belw is a typical zne utput terminal fr the speaker(s) : Abve is the prper wiring fr an 8 Ω speaker system

10 Cmmercial (70/25V) Speaker Wiring There are 6 distinct znes n the 70/25V System (A6X6A70). Each zne can supprt 20 watts f pwer. 18 AWG wire shuld be sufficient fr mst cmmercial applicatins. Fr wire runs lnger than 300 feet, it is recmmended t use 16 AWG. We suggest using plenum rated wire fr all installatins. Belw is a typical zne utput terminal fr the speaker(s): Abve is a parallel wiring cnfiguratin fr a 70 Vlt speaker system. Fr a 70/25V system, the 25V (+) cnnectin is lcated n the far left and the 70V (+) is lcated n the far right. The respective cmmns (-) are the tw cnnectins in the center. A 70 Vlt system allws a user t daisy chain many speakers n a zne as lng as the cmbined wattage settings f the speakers (in the chain) d nt exceed the znes maximum wattage, which in this case is 20 Watts. D nt mix 70V and 25V speakers n a system installatin. The installatin shuld always be dedicated t either 70 Vlt r 25 Vlt. NEVER wire bth utputs simultaneusly. The wiring fr a 70/25V system can be parallel (as shwn abve) r lp thru as shwn belw. Always bserve and maintain speaker plarity (prper +/-) fr ptimal sund

11 Keypad Wiring 1. A standard CAT-5 cable (up t 600 ft) is used t cnnect the keypad t the server. Netwrk Wiring 1. The netwrk cnnectin between the server and a PC r Laptp can be accmplished with a Cat 5e cable terminated with RJ-45 cnnectrs n each end. Please nte that the maximum distance fr this cable is 300 feet. A netwrk switch r ruter may be used as a junctin pint between these devices. Netwrk Cnnectin t the Server

12 Hw t Make a Playlist With the Manager, yu have tw playlist generatin ptins. Yu can either use itunes r Windws Media Player t create yur playlists. itunes Playlist Instructins n hw t create a playlist via itunes can be fund in itunes Help. Once yur playlist is created, yu must right-click n it and exprt it t a specific destinatin flder. Yu will need the exprted (.xml) playlist fr use in the Manager. Windws Media Player Playlist Instructins n hw t create a playlist via Windws Media Player can be fund in the media players Help. Once a playlist is created, it is autmatically saved int the users music flder under playlists. Yu will need the (.wpl) playlist fr use in the Manager. Manager Sftware Manager Installatin T install the Manager, insert the sftware CD int yur CD-ROM drive. The CD will aut-run and install a shrtcut t the Manager n yur desktp. Yu shuld always remve any prir installatins f the Manager sftware befre updating t a new versin. Passwrd Creatin & Aut Lgin When the Manager is first initialized, yu are prmpted t create a passwrd. Yu can change the passwrd r change the passwrd setting under Optins. Select Aut-Lgin t nt be prmpted fr a passwrd every time the Manager is initialized

13 Upgrading the Manager Sftware Shuld an update t the Manager be available, yu can upgrade yur sftware frm the Manager s Optins menu. First, pen the Optins menu, then select Upgrade. The fllwing menu will pen: Ensure that the bx next t yur server name is checked ff. Then, click File. The fllwing screen will pen up

14 Once the Open screen cmes up, select the upgrade file and click n Open. Yu will be taken back t Optins and the Start buttn is nw accessible. Press Start and the status bar will first say Ready and then Success. Once Manager. Yur take effect. has been upgraded, press OK and it will take yu back t the hardware and Manager sftware must then be rebted fr the upgrade t Unit Selectin The Manager is designed t wrk with bth the A6X6A8 8Ω versin, and the A6X6A70 70/25V versin. Selecting what versin is assciated with yur Manager installatin ensures ptimal perfrmance frm yur digital music. Simply select the Unit tab n the Optins menu, and frm the drp dwn, select the frmat f the system yu are using. Versin Selecting the Versin tab frm the Optins menu will tell yu what versin f the Manager sftware yu are running. This culd be useful in Technical Supprt situatins r t determine if yur sftware is utilizing the latest features

15 Server Settings (Name and IP Address) Setting up yur server is dne thrugh the Manager. Fllw the steps belw Open up the Manager and click n the Server icn lcated in the tp left f the tlbar. A new windw (Server List) will pen. Click n the Add buttn lcated at the bttm left. The Add/Rename windw will pen next. Here yu will input the name f yur server and the server IP address. Fr this example, Spec Technlgies is the server name. Next, enter the IP address that will be applicable t yur server. When yu have cmpleted bth sectins, press the OK buttn

16 After clicking the OK buttn, yu are taken back t the Server list menu. Click Clse and yu will be taken back t the Manager main screen. If yu have entered yur servers IP crrectly, a cmputer with yur servers name will appear in the left hand clumn. The screen f the cmputer icn will turn blue nce the Manager makes a successful cnnectin t the server. Please nte that the IP address entered in this sectin must be identical t the IP address that is entered n the keypad. See the Keypad sectin f this manual fr that prcedure. Editing a List (Master Surce & Surces by Zne) Once yu have created yur playlists, setting up yur master surce and surces by zne lists is easily dne thrugh the Manager. Fllw the steps belw Open up the Manager and click n the Edit List icn lcated in the tp left f the tlbar

17 A new windw will pen. In the left clumn f that menu, yu shuld see Aux inputs 1 thrugh 6. T add an existing playlist, click n the Brwse buttn, lcated at the bttm left f the screen. A new windw will pen. Here yu will search fr the flder that cntains yur playlists. Fr this example, the My Playlists flder is used. Select the playlist that yu want t imprt int the Manager. When finished, click n the Open buttn

18 After clicking n Open, yu are taken back t the Edit List windw. Yur playlists shuld nw be listed directly under yur Auxs. Repeat the abve steps as ften as necessary. Yur next step is t select which playlist(s) and aux(s) yu want t add in each zne. Yu will d this by chsing a zne frm the Surces by Zne bar and then clicking n a playlist r Aux in the Master Surce List. Once yu have dne that, select the Add buttn. Yu can subsequently delete playlists frm Surces by Zne by clicking n the playlist r Aux yu want t remve and then clicking n the Remve buttn. Nte that by clicking Rename, yu have the ability t custmize the names f the znes fr easier reference. Yu can als edit the names f the auxiliary inputs frm the Edit List windw. Simply click nce n the auxiliary t highlight the desired surce, and then click again nce n the highlighted surce t edit. This is extremely useful t knw what the actual surce is frm the remte keypads, as well as fr future reference frm the Manager

19 will NOT autmatically update yur sngs if yu ve made any changes in the riginal playlists via itunes r Windws Media Player. T update playlists, yu shuld remve it frm all znes, and then highlight the playlist in the Master Surce List. Once highlighted, click n the Refresh buttn at the bttm f the clumn, and then re-add the playlist t all desired znes Once yu are dne adding yur playlists and auxiliaries t yur znes, click n the Apply buttn fllwed by the OK buttn lcated n the bttm left f the menu screen. Yu will then be taken back t the Manager s main menu. Click n the + icn adjacent t yur server t pen yur zne list. Click n each individual zne t ensure yur playlists and auxiliaries have been imprted

20 Playing a Surce Once the Playlists have been added t a zne simply highlight the playlist r auxiliary yu wuld like t listen t and click n the play icn. Playlist Selectin: Playback Mde: All Playlists Allw the Manager t access all playlists in the zne. Current Playlist Only The Manager will nly play the selected playlist. Sequential All sngs will play in the riginal play list rder, and playlists will play in the rder they are arranged n the Edit List windw. Randm - All sngs will play in a nn-fixed rder. Please nte that if The Playlist Selectin is set t All Playlists and Randm playback is als selected then the sng selectins will jump frm Playlist t Playlist. Repeat Mde: Off The playlist(s) will stp after ne time thrugh. Current Sng The currently selected audi file will play in an endless lp. Current Playlist The current playlist will repeat in an endless lp

21 Playlist Srt: This feature will allw the listener t srt the sng list by: Genre, Artist, Album, Title, Filename r set t Off. Frm the Manager hme page, yu will be able t mnitr the sng that is currently playing, the artists name, the rigin file, the ttal playback time and the elapsed time f the sng. Bass and Treble settings that will be synchrnized with the znes keypad. Zne Mute cntrl is als available n this page. Sng Cntrls: Keypad Keypad Icn Definitins:

22 Keypad Menu Tree: After initializatin, the keypad will display Aux 1 (as shwn belw). With the keypad wired and attached t the unit, the keypad will initialize after pwer has been applied. The user can at this time set the vlume fr this zne by pressing the UP/DN arrw buttns. After pressing Surce Select, the display will shw the cmplete auxiliary list that is available t that zne. Please Nte that the very first keypad initializatin will display all 6 Znes. Once the Edit List has been prgrammed, the auxiliary list frm then n will shw nly the Auxs that have been added t the zne until the next server rebt

23 Press the Rt Menu buttn. The LCD will display the menu shwn t the immediate right. Press the Surce Select t display the current sftware revisin number. (far right) Or press the dwn arrw buttn t access the IP Setting. Here yu may view the current setting. Press the Surce Select buttn t view and/r change this setting fr yur specific LAN envirnment. (far right) Or press the dwn arrw t access the Tne menu. Press the Surce Select buttn t access the Tne cntrl menu where the Bass and Treble settings reside. Press the Rt Menu buttn t return t the Nw Playing screen. Setting the IP Address: The IP address that is entered int the server shuld be the same IP address that was entered int the Server IP in the Manager sftware. The Gateway entry is nt necessary fr a LAN cnnectin. Additinal Keypad Features: Single Zne Mute Press the Mute buttn fr 1 secnd. This actin will mute the zne assciated with that keypad. T Exit Single Zne Mute, Press and Hld the Mute buttn fr 1 secnd. Mute will release

24 Cntrlling AUX Surces via IR Pass Thrugh n Keypads T utilize a keypads IR pass-thrugh, yu will need the fllwing The remte cntrl that came with the AUX yu are trying t cntrl r a prperly prgrammed universal remte (1) IR extender cable fr every (1) AUX input yu want t cntrl T cntrl an AUX surce via a keypads IR pass-thrugh, the fllwing steps must be taken. Plug the IR extender cable in the crrespnding AUX IR prt n the rear f the unit. (i.e., if yur CD Player is yur AUX 1 surce then IR extender cable must be plugged int IR prt # 1, Aux 2 int IR prt # 2, etc.) Repeat this step fr each AUX surces yu have cnnected t. Place the ther end f the IR extender cable nt the IR sensr f the AUX yu want t cntrl (usually labeled and lcated n frnt f an AUX device) Once setup is cmplete, select whichever AUX input yu wuld like t listen t via the keypad. Once AUX input is selected, yu can nw pint yur remte cntrl at the keypad and cntrl yur AUX surce. (it is suggested that yu nt be mre than 30 feet away frm keypad while ding this) As a cnvenience, will ONLY cntrl the active aux in any given zne. This will prevent a remte cntrl frm interfering with play in anther zne

The Ethernet cable is nt cnnected r it is nt cmpletely inserted. Yur IP addresses are matched. n Keypad Adjust the vlume cntrl t apprpriate setting. Check all cables and netwrk devices. Use music files with.mp3,.mp4,.m4a,.m4b r.aac. Prtected (.m4p) music purchased thrugh itunes is nt supprted. N/A N/A 7 N/A Firmly cnnect the Ethernet cable. 11 Ensure that yur cmputer and have matching IP addresses. 15 & 23 Yur Ethernet cable is bad. Replace the Ethernet cable. 27 Warranty and Repair We warranty this prduct t be free frm any manufacturing r material defects fr tw (2) years frm the date f purchase. This warranty will nt extend t any prducts which have been subjected t misuse, neglect, accident, r imprper installatin, used in vilatin f instructins furnished by us; r t units which have been repaired r altered utside f the factry. This limited warranty des nt apply t brken cases, batteries, r ther physically damaged parts. Unless requested, the cmpany will replace and return all merchandise in the packaging in which it was received.
