1 Rich Media Specifications NOTE: ALL RICH MEDIA ASSETS MUST GO THROUGH A 3 rd PARTY RICH MEDIA VENDOR PRIOR TO BEING SENT TO ROGERS BPPG UNLESS INDICATED OTHERWISE. SPECS LISTED IN THIS DOCUMENT ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR BPPG SITES AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MIGHT BE RECQUIRED BY THE 3 RD PARTY VENDOR. CONTACT THEM FOR A QUOTE, DEADLINES AND ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Rogers BPPG works with many 3rd party ad serving vendors. 3 Transitional / Interstitial Transitional / Interstitial ads are initiated when users from one page to another and an ad catches them in transition before they arrive at the next page. The ad saturates the entire browser window and the user must either close the ad by clicking on the link to continue to the website or wait for the ad to expire (which is generally between seconds max). 4 Wallpaper / Skin The Wallpaper/ Ad is an ad which changes the background of the page being viewed. Wallpaper ads can be hard-coded to run across the entire site or targeted to specific sections of the site. They may also be geo-targeted. Due to variations in site widths, it is best to keep any important graphics or text close to the edges or gutters. This will reduce the instances of users seeing a truncated wallpaper due to differences in screen resolutions. Supply creative 10 business days in advance for sufficient testing time NOT clickable or animated Max file size: 200KB 1920(w) x 1080(h) pixels * Adjustments may need to be made to fit the Wallpaper to a site's specific content width, ask your account manager or BPPGCreative@rci.rogers.com for additional Wallpaper specifications please see page 14 4
5 Sliver A Sliver ad is a thin rectangular ad which spans the entire width of the site content (generally placed close to the top of the page below the masthead). When the cursor hovers or over the ad, the ad unit will expand down, pushing the content down (instead of covering the content). The expanded ad can be retracted by clicking the close button. Must include close "x" button, top right of Sliver Ad, minimum 12x12 pixels Ad expands on roll-over (or click), pushing content down and contracts to a slimmer ad on click via close button, the content should revert to original position Supply one click through URL separately 80k initial load, 100 kb subsequent polite load, 2.2 mb progressive load Width = 975 pixels is the universal Sliver width - to design a Sliver that matches the content width of a specific site, please see page 14. Height = 50 pixels Expanded Height: 250 pixels 5
6 Pushdown A Pushdown ad is a rectangular ad which spans the entire width of the site content (placed at the top of the site in the leaderboard spot). When the cursor hovers or over the ad, the ad unit will expand down, pushing the content down (instead of covering the content). The expanded ad can be retracted by clicking the close button. Pushdown ad appears at the top of the page which pushes the content below it down (exposing the ad). Must include close "x" button, top right of Pushdown Ad, minimum 12x12 pixels Ad expands on roll-over (or click), pushing content down and contracts to original ad size on click via close button, the content should revert to original position Supply one click through URL separately 80k initial load, 100 kb subsequent polite load, 2.2 mb progressive load Pushdown ad fully expands to this size when a user selects the play button. Width = 970 pixels is the universal width - to design a Pushdown that matches the content width of a specific site, please see page 14. Height = 90 pixels Expanded Height: 415 pixels 6
7 Page Peels When the user's mouse cursor hovers over the Page Peel in its Closed state, the ad "peels" back to reveal the Opened state Open state must have functional close button that retracts ad to Closed state Both states must be designed to look like a folded/curled page - not a solid square (Note: This will reduce the effective display area of ad's message) Animation/Video: 30 seconds max. If looping indefinitely, each loop should not exceed 15 seconds max. Frame rate must not exceed 24 FPS. True streaming. Progressive load on click only. 80k initial load, 100 kb subsequent polite load, 2.2 mb progressive load Small: 75(h) x 75(w) pixels Closed, 500(w) x 500(h) pixels Opened Large: 150(h) x 150(w) pixels Closed, 600(w) x 600(h) pixels Opened 7
8 Top Layer / Floating Ads For Top layer (or Floating) ads, the animation moves across the user's screen, or floats above the content, and must disappear off the page or, if a combo unit, must disappear into another ad unit such as the Leaderboard or Big Box. Click must open new browser window Must include close "x" button, top right minimum 12x12 pixels Animation: Up to 7 seconds floating Frame rate must not exceed 24 fps Audio: User-initiated on click only. A functioning on/off button is required, in-unit volume control is optional 80k initial load, 160 kb subsequent polite load, 2.2 mb progressive load Recommended: Do not build top layer ads in standard ad sizes. If combo unit, ad must disappear off page or into another ad unit. 8
9 Digital Bellyband Digital Bellybands can run across the entire site or can be targeted to specific sections of the site, i.e., home page, news section, etc. The bellyband must be initiated by a Big Box ad counterpart. The ad will automatically expand/launch via the Big Box once the page loads up. If the user chooses to close it via the close button, then the bellyband disappears while the Big Box ad remains. The Big Box ad must be designed with standard call-to-action creative because it will still display on the web page after the bellyband is closed. Click must open new browser window. Must include close "x" button, top right of Bellyband, minimum 12x12 pixels Must include frequency cap (recommended 1X per 24hrs) Supply both Bellyband and Big Box creative to a 3rd party vendor 80k initial load,100 kb subsequent polite load,2.2 mb progressive load Bellyband width will vary depending on individual site width (contact your Account Manager for information) Bellyband height = 250(h) pixels Big Box = 300(w) x 250(h) pixels, see Standard Ad specs 9
10 Catfish The Catfish ad unit appears or rises up from the bottom of the browser window. It spans the site content width. When a user scrolls down on the page, the Catfish ad stays at the bottom of the browser window until the user clicks on the Catfish s close button. Click must open new browser window Must include close "x" button, top right minimum 12x12 pixels Must not exceed site width Must include frequency cap (recommended 2X per 24hrs) Frame rate must not exceed 24 FPS 80k initial load, 100 kb subsequent polite load, 2.2 mb progressive load Width = To design a Catfish that matches the content width of a specific site, please see page 14. 11 Slider IAB Rising Stars clicking on the ad unit at the bottom of the page causes the site content to slide left a secondary portion of the ad slides in from the right as the site content slides out, to fit together with the bottom ad unit the initial ad unit that appears at the bottom of the page may be designed to match the width of the site content, contact BPPGCreative@rci.rogers.com or your Account Manager to obtain additional information Style Guide - Additional Demo & Sample Files
12 Sidekick IAB Rising Stars tied to a Bigbox which when clicked, causes the site content to slide left a secondary portion of the ad is revealed, sliding in from the right as the site content slides out clicking on the CLOSE button collapses the secondary portion of the ad and the site slides right, back into its original place Style Guide - Additional Demo & Sample Files
