3 Binary Tree Dcumentatin Sectin 1. Intrductin Ntes Migratr CMT (Ntes Migratr) features a new name and lg, but is the same, trusted prduct previusly knwn as CMT fr Exchange (CMTe). This dcument details the requirements fr implementing Binary Tree s Ntes Migratr CMT. These include the requirements fr the Migratin Cntrl Center and Migratins Wrkstatins, as well as any envirnmental requirements. Ntes Migratr shuld be installed n rbust wrkstatins. Faster CPUs, disks, and netwrk all equate t better migratin perfrmance and less time is required t cmplete a migratin. In additin, several migratin wrkstatins can be deplyed and the migratin wrklad distributed between them. This gives mre flexibility and cntrl ver scheduling migratins and the time required t cmplete them. Please refer t the Ntes Migratr CMT User Guide fr details n implementing this slutin. Requirement Changes Since Last Versin The fllwing changes have been made t the Requirements since the last GA release: MAPI must be enabled n the target mailbx. The hardware RAM requirements fr Migratin Wrkstatins have been updated t 2 GB. MAPI ver HTTP shuld be enabled n the Exchange server fr migratins. RPC is n lnger supprted by the migratin engine. Added the fllwing t Exchange Requirements: The migratin engine utilizes MAPI ver HTTP and perfrms an Autdiscver lkup t identify the target mailbx n Exchange (r Office 365). Fr this t functin prperly, all DNS cnfiguratin must be cmpleted fllwing Micrsft s best practices fr Autdiscver with a CNAME recrd added fr the Autdiscver dmain(s). Ntes Migratr CMT Requirements 3

Migratin Wrkstatins Windws Server 2012 R2 Windws Server 2008 R2 SP1 Windws 7 SP1 (64-bit) Nte: US English versin and US English reginal setting must be used. Duble byte character set language packs shuld nt be installed. Outlk Client Requirements Supprted versins: Outlk 2010 SP2 (32-bit nly) Binary Tree Dcumentatin Outlk Prfessinal Plus 2013 SP1 which is part f Micrsft Office Prfessinal Plus 2013 SP1 (32-bit nly) (Micrsft update patch KB is required) Nte: This must be the 32-bit versin f Outlk Prfessinal Plus Office 365 PrPlus, Click-t-Run, Hme, Wrkgrup r any ther specialized versin is nt supprted n any migratin wrkstatin. All reminders are shut-ff (click Tls -> Optins -> Other -> Reminder Optins) Aut-archiving is disabled (click Tls -> Optins -> Other -> Aut Archive) Prgrammatic warnings disabled (click Tls > Trust Center > Prgrammatic Access > Never warn me abut suspicius activity (nt recmmended)) Cache mde must nt be enabled because the migratin data will nt be written directly t the server stre. Outlk shuld be updated t the current patch levels, at the time f this prduct release. Ntes Migratr CMT Requirements 4

5 Binary Tree Dcumentatin Ltus Ntes Requirements Supprted versins: Ltus Ntes versin Fix Pack 6 is supprted fr Windws 7, Windws Server 2008, and Windws Server Ltus Ntes versin is supprted fr Windws 7, Windws Server 2008, and Windws Server Ltus Ntes must be installed as a single user installatin (multi -user installatins are nt supprted). Ltus Ntes Designer must be installed fr Ntes links t migrate prperly. The Ltus Ntes Designer client must be installed in the migratin wrkstatin fr dc links t migrate prperly. *Ltus Ntes is NOT supprted. *If yu are using Ntes 8.5.3, Fix Pack 6 is required due t a prduct defect that culd impact data fidelity. Ensure that yu enable the Ntes ID security fr the ptin D nt prmpt fr passwrd frm ther Ntes-based prgrams (Reduces security). Ensure that yu turn ff Ntes mail reminders in the Ntes client preferences mail sectin. Ensure that yu enable TCP/IP as the nly prt in the Ntes client install preferences. On each migratin wrkstatin, Server Cnnectin dcuments may be required t prvide access t sme f the Ntes/Dmin servers. If cnnectin dcuments are required, it is the custmer s respns ibility t prvide the apprpriate Destinatin server address. General Requirements Fr the Migratin Cntrl Center nly: IIS with web service cmpnents (SMTP and FTP cmpnents nt needed.) Fr mre details, refer t the next sectin. English versin f SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 Express, SQL Server 2016, r SQL Server 2016 Express. If SQL Server is nt detected during installatin, the installer will prvide the ptin t install SQL Server 2012 Express *Internet access is required fr the installer t install SQL Server 2012 Express. *Nn-English versins f SQL Server are nt supprted. *Befre installing SQL Server Express, cmplex passwrd requirements must be disabled n the server. Fr the installatin f Ntes Migratr, yu will need Micrsft Visual C runtime (bth x86 and x64 n Migratin Cntrl Center) and.net If any f the additinal packages are nt installed, the Installer will autmatically install them. Yu must disable any applicatins which take ver r blck the use f prt 80 n the Migratin Cntrl Center. Windws PwerShell 2.0 Engine must be enabled n the Cntrl Center t allw PwerShell matching. T enable PwerShell 2.0, navigate t Add Rles and Features Wizard > Features > Windws PwerShell and check Windws PwerShell 2.0 Engine. T use CSVDE reslutin, Active Directry Dmain Services (AD DS) cmpnents must be installed. Fr the Migratin Wrkstatins: Fr the installatin f Ntes Migratr, yu will need Micrsft Visual C runtime (nly x86 n Wrkstatins) and.net The installer will nt install these items and they will need t be installed separately. 6 Binary Tree Dcumentatin Fr bth Migratin Cntrl Center and Migratin Wrkstatins: T use the imprt users with Excel feature r exprt users t Excel feature, Micrsft Excel must be installed and prperly registered with the perating system. Typically, this is nly needed n the Migratin Cntrl Center, r where the imprt is ging t be perfrmed frm. D nt have restrictins in yur Grup Plici es r wrkstatin plicies that prevent the autmatic creatin f MAPI prfiles r.pst files n the migratin wrkstatins. Ensure that any persnal firewalls and the Windws firewall are OFF and disabled as a service. Ensure that Antivirus sftware is di sabled. Specifically, the real time scanning prtectin. Otherwise, migratin thrughput will be reduced and ther issues can ccur such as crashes in stressful states f migratin wrklad. If it cannt be disabled, please exclude the fllwing directries frm scanning: C:\windws\temp and (%TEMP% if different) C:\Prgram Files (x86)\binary Tree\CMT fr Exchange C:\Exprted PSTs (r the directry specified by the user fr string PSTs) Ensure that WSUS, Intel LanDesk, and ther such prgrams are excluded frm running n the migratin wrkstatins. These prgrams can halt migratins as their screens pp up t run tasks, as well as unscheduled re-bts caused by these prcesses can interrupt migratins. Ensure that yu turn ff Autmatic Windws updates. Ensure that User Accunt Cntrl (UAC) is disabled t allw Ntes Migratr t cmmunicate with ther applicatins and temprary flders. IIS and ASP.NET in Windws Fr the Migratin Cntrl Center nly: Base versin (v8.5) within Windws Server 2012 R2 Base versin (v7.5) within Windws Server 2008 R2 and Windws 7 IIS Server installed with the default website, settings and default lcatins including: Default Weblg Path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LgFiles ISAPI Objects Enabled (filters must be disabled) Unlimited web site cnnectins N bandwidth thrttling Hme directry: C:\inetpub\wwwrt Directry Security: SSL Disabled ASP ASP.NET versin 4.0.NET r higher T avid installatin issues, IIS 6 Management Cmpatibility cmpnents shuld be installed and enabled if using Windws 7, Windws Server 2008 R2, r Windws Server 2012 R2. In Windws 7, enable IIS 6 Management Cmpatibility and all sub-ptins under Web Management Tls in Windws Features. In Windws Server 2008 R2 r Windws Server 2012 R2, enable IIS 6 Management Cmpatibility and all sub-ptins under Management Tls in Web Server (IIS) server rle. Ntes Migratr CMT Requirements 6

7 Binary Tree Dcumentatin Fr bth Migratin Cntrl Center and Migratin Wrkstatins: The machines must be lgged int the destinatin Exchange Dmain if migrating t a n npremise Exchange envirnment (des nt apply t O365 migratins). Yu cannt have restrictins n any wrkstatin plicy that can prevent the autmatic creatin f MAPI prfiles r.pst files. All wrkstatin names must be excluded frm grup plicies that restrict lcal accunt privileges. Binary Tree recmmends that all wrkstatin names be excluded frm Grup Plicy Objects (GPOs). All f the migratin wrkstatins must be able t talk with each ther ver Prt 80. XML calls must make cnnectins between the Migratin Cntrl Center and All Migratin Wrkstatins using Annymus Access. Migratin Accunt Permissin Requirements There are tw accunts used n the migratin wrkstatins fr the actual migratin f data: Exchange migratin accunt and the Ltus Ntes ID. Exchange Migratin Accunt: Must be a mailbx enabled user bject. Passwrd shuld be set t never expire. Must be used t lg int each f the migratin wrker machines. Is set t have Full Access t Exchange mailbxes during the Prvisining prcess. Ltus Ntes Migratin ID: Must have Manager Access t all mail files being migrated. Manager Access allws yu t migrate unread marks and update surce file ACL. Must be cnfigured n each f the migratin wrker machines. Must be used t perfrm the Mail File Audit. Fr the persn(s) perfrming the migratin prcess there are tw accunts t cnsider when perfrming migratins: The Active Directry accunt that is lgged int the machine being used and the Ntes ID that is being used t access the Ntes Migratr Dmin applicatin. Active Directry Migratin Operatr Requirements: (PS represents PwerShell and ADO represents direct calls t Active Directry): Ability t run Exchange PwerShell scripts (either remte r lcal t the wrkstatin), generally the Exchange rles Organizatin and Recipient Management. (PS) Ability t manipulate user bjects, specifically mdify the targetaddress, prxyaddresses, mail and msexchpliciesexcluded attributes. (ADO) Ability t delete cntact bjects created by the directry synchrnizatin prcess. (ADO) Ability t update Distributin List member lists. (ADO) Ability t create and mdify Distributin List bjects. 8 Binary Tree Dcumentatin Ltus Ntes Migratin Operatr ID Requirements: Editr with Delete access t the Ntes Migratr applicatin. Editr access t all mail files. (required during Mail File audit) Editr access t the Dmin Directry. The Persn Mdifier Rle is required t set the Mail Frwarding in the Dmin directry. Right t issue cnsle replicatin cmmands t Dmin Mail and Staging server(s). Right t create new replicas n Dmin Staging server(s). Right t create new databases n Dmin Staging server(s). (required fr Rms a nd Resurces migratin) Delegatin Migratin Requirements The fllwing is required if using Access and Delegatin Migratin. PwerShell 4 must be installed n wrkstatins used fr delegatin migratin, and n the Dmin server if access delegatin will be run as a scheduled agent n the server. (this requirement is nly fr running scheduled agents in the lcal ntes wrkspace) When running delegatin lcally as a scheduled agent, the fllwing cnditins must be met: Enable lcal scheduled agents must be set in the Ntes Preferences f the wrkstatin. The EMM database must be lcated under the wrkstatins Ntes data directry. The wrkstatin and Ntes client must be running fr a lcally scheduled agent t run. Office 365 Migratin Requirements The fllwing sftware is required n the Migratin Cntrl Center t allw the peratr t use PwerShell related agents in the Ntes Migratr.nsf database: Micrsft Online Services Sign-In Assistant fr IT Prfessinals RTW Azure Active Directry Mdule fr Windws PwerShell (64-bit versin) Windws Management Framewrk 4.0 (PwerShell 4.0) With the change t supprt MAPI ver HTTP, the migratin engine perfrms an Autdiscver lkup t identify the target mailbx and create the mail prfile. Onsite System Administratr Binary Tree Dcumentatin An nsite Dmin System Administratr shuld be available t prvide assistance with the Ntes ID, Server Cnnectin Dcuments, Mail-in Database Dcuments, signing f the Ntes Migratr database and any ther system r netwrk tasks. As indicated abve, prper access rights are necessary fr the migratin t be perfrmed and an nsite System Administratr can help ensure the migratin cmpletes in a timely fashin. 10 Sectin 4. Micrsft Exchange Requirements MAPI must be enabled n the target mailbx. If migrating t Exchange 2010, Exchange 2013 r higher, r Office 365, the privilege level required t migrate user mailbxes is Full Access. If migrating t Exchange 2013, yu must ensure that the migratin wrkstatin(s) being used have Outlk 2010 SP2 (32-bit) r Outlk 2013 (32-bit).
