Techncal knowledge obtaned n KNX tranng courses s a prerequste to proper understandng. The functonalty of ths devce depends on the software. Detaled nformaton on loadable software and attanable functonalty as well as the software tself can be obtaned from the manufacturer s product database. Plannng, nstallaton and commssonng of the unt s effected by means of KNX-certfed software. The full functonalty wth KNX commssonng software from verson ETS3.0d onwards. The product database, techncal descrptons and converson programs and other utltes are avalable n the Internet at Safety nstructons Electrcal equpment must be nstalled and ftted by qualfed electrcans only. Observe the current accdent preventon regulatons. Falure to observe the nstructons may cause damage to the devce and result n fre or other hazards. The devce s not suted for safe dsconnecton of the mans supply. Shuttng off the devce does not separate the load electrcally from the supply. Before workng on the devce or before replacng the lamp, dsconnect the supply voltage (by cuttng out the crcut breaker) to avod the rsk of an electrc shock. Dsconnect the mans supply also when the connected load s changed (e.g. when another lghtng fxture s nstalled). If nductve transformers are used, each transformer must be fuse-protected on the prmary sde n accordance wth the manufacturer s nstructons. Manual operaton n the event of bus falure enabled. After falure and return of bus voltage, the devce swtches over to the bus mode. After falure and return of mans voltage, the devce swtches over to the bus mode. Manual control mode can be dsabled n operaton va bus telegram. Actvatng the temporary manual control mode Keypad operaton s programmed and not dsabled. Press the key brefly < 1 s. LED A1 flashes, LED stays off. After 5 s wthout key-press, the actuator returns automatcally to the bus mode. Actvatng the permanent manual control mode Keypad operaton s programmed and not dsabled. Press the key for at least 5 s. LED s on, LED A1 flashes, permanent manual control mode s actvated. Deactvatng the permanent manual control mode The devce s n the permanent manual control mode. Press the key for at least 5 s. LED s off, bus operaton s actvated. Swtchng the outputs The devce s n the permanent or temporary manual control mode. Press the key brefly < 1 s several tmes untl the desred output s selected. The LED of the selected output A1...A4 flashes. The LEDs ON/ and OFF/ ndcate the status. Swtch the output wth the ON/ or OFF/ key. Bref press: swtchng on / off Long press: ncrease / reduce brghtness Release key: stop dmmng Temporary manual control mode: After all outputs have been selected one after another, the devce quts the manual control mode wth the next bref press. Shuttng off all outputs The devce s n the permanent manual control mode. Press the ALL OFF key. All outputs are shut off. Deactvatng the temporary manual control mode The devce s n the temporary manual control mode. 4 Dsablng bus operaton for ndvdual outputs The devce s n the permanent manual control mode. Press the key brefly < 1 s several tmes untl the desred output s selected. The status LED of the selected output A1...A4 flashes. The LEDs ON/ and OFF/ ndcate the status. Press the keys ON/ and OFF/ smultaneously for at least 5 s. The selected output A1...A4 s dsabled. The status LED of the selected output A1...A4 flashes fast. Actvate the bus mode (deactvate the permanent manual control mode). A dsabled output can only be operated n the manual control mode. When a dsabled output s selected n the manual control mode, the respectve status LEDs flashes twce brefly at ntervals. Re-enablng dsabled outputs for bus operaton The devce s n the permanent manual control mode. Press the key brefly < 1 s several tmes untl the desred output s selected. The status LEDs of the selected output A1...A4 flashes twce brefly at ntervals. Press the keys ON/ and OFF/ smultaneously for at least 5 s. The selected output A1...A4 s enabled. The status LED of the selected output A1...A4 flashes slowly. Actvate the bus mode (deactvate the permanent manual control mode). rmaton for qualfed electrcans DANGER! Electrc shock n case of accdental contact wth lve parts. Electrc shocks may be fatal. Before workng on the devce, cut out the mans supply and cover up lve parts n the surroundngs. Fttng and electrcal connecton Fttng the devce Observe the admssble temperature range. Ensure suffcent coolng. Ft the devce by snap-fastenng on a mountng ral n acc. wth EN The connectng termnals must be at the top. Operate nductve transformers wth at least 85 % of ther rated load. When mxed loads are used wth nductve transformers, the share of resstve loads must not exceed 50 %. Troublefree operaton s ensured only wth Gra TRONIC transformers or wth nductve ron-copper transformers. Connectng the devce Observe the admssble loads. Observe the Techncal Operatng Condtons of the power supply companes. Do not exceed the permssble total load ncludng transformer losses. Cauton! Rsk of rreparable damage wth mxed loads. Do not connect capactve loads (e.g. electronc transformers) and nductve loads (e.g. conventonal transformers) n common to the same dmmng output. 1/07 Page 4 of 8

5 Connect the devce as shown n the wrng example (Fg. 3). 3 L1 L2 L3 N Dsconnect the load crcut. Dsconnect the mans supply (Fg. 1, 4). Connect the new load. Recommsson the devce (see Commssonng). Lead bus lnes towards the rear of the devce. KNX/EIB L N Slde the cap over the bus termnal (Fg. 4, A) untl t s heard to engage. 4A Delvery state: provsonal operaton possble, output control va keypad enabled. Automatc selecton of dmmng prncple. After reachng the total permssble load of the dmmng actuator, the power can be ncreased wth external boosters. The boosters must be selected to match the dmmers and the load. For more nformaton see the nstructons of the respectve power booster. Changng the type of load connected Removng the cap Press the sdes of cap and wthdraw (Fg. 4, B). 4B Changng a connected load, e.g. by replacng a connected lumnare. The dmmng actuator auto-detects the new load after dsconnectng the power supply and the load. CAUTION! Rsk of rreparable damage f the preselected dmmng prncple and the connected load are not compatble. Before changng the load, dsconnect the mans supply and the load crcut concerned. Make sure before commssonng that the software settngs are compatble wth the load. Swtch on the bus voltage. Allocate the physcal address and load the applcaton software nto the devce. Swtch on the mans voltage at the outputs. Swtch on the mans supply. The devce auto-detects the load and selects the approprate dmmng prncple (phase cut-on or phase cut-off). The detecton phase s characterzed by bref flckerng of the lamp and lasts between 1 and 10 seconds dependng on power supply condtons. Control commands receved durng the adaptaton procedure are executed on completon thereof. The dmmng prncple can be predefned durng parameterzaton of the devce. In ths case, the auto-detect procedure s omtted. Dsconnect the mans supply and the concerned output from the mans. Remove the short-crcut. Reconnect at frst the output voltage and then the mans supply. Swtch the concerned output off and then on agan. In case of a short-crcut durng the autodetect cycle, the load s redected automatcally when the short-crcut has been removed. In case of a short-crcut, the concerned output shuts off. Automatc restart after removal of the short-crcut wthn 100 ms (nductve load) and 7 s (capactve or resstve load). Thereafter, permanent shutoff. Output overheated, overtemperature protecton actvated Wat unt devce has cooled down. For faster coolng shut off other outputs, f possble, ensure proper coolng. If repeated: reduce the load. Shut-off of overheated outputs. Dependng on programmng, the output auto-detects the load after coolng and can be reactvated. Manual control va keypad not possble Cause 1: Cause 2: Manual control not programmed. Reprogram the devce. Manual control mode dsabled va the bus. Enable the manual control mode. Output control not possble Cause: Output dsabled. Re-enable the output. None of the outputs operatonal Cause 1: Cause 2: Cause 3: Cause 4: All outputs dsabled. Re-enable the outputs. Manual control actve. Deactvate the permanent manual control mode (swtch ths mode off). Applcaton software stopped, programmng LED flashes. Dsconnect devce from bus, reconnect after ca. 10 s. No or faulty applcaton software. Check programmng and rectfy. Cause 3: Load falure. If the dmmng actuator auto-detects the load wrongly, e.g. n case of strongly nductve network or long load lnes. Preselect the correct dmmng prncple wth the commssonng software.
