14 Chapter 1 Introduction What Is in This Chapter This chapter describes the SPECTRUM management module for the Wellfleet Series 5 Router. It also provides the Model Type Names assigned to the Wellfleet Series 5 Router in SPECTRUM. The Model Type Name refers to the template used to specify device attributes, actions, and associations for device models in SPECTRUM. Wellfleet Series 5 Router Management Module The SPECTRUM Wellfleet Series 5 Router Management Module manages Wellfleet devices using the SNMP network management agent and the Management Information Bases (MIBs), included with the management module. The model type for the Wellfleet Series 5 Router device is Rtr_Wfleet5xx. Supported Applications The Wellfleet Series 5 Router Management Module supports both common and device-specific applications. SPECTRUM management of a Wellfleet Series 5 Router is based on the following common applications (model type names are in parentheses), which are discussed in the SPECTRUM Application View Reference: E7 Introduction 1-1

15 Supported Applications Routing - IP (IPRtrApp) MIB-II - System (System2_App) - TCP (TCP2_App) - UDP (UDP2_App) - ICMP (ICMP_App) The Wellfleet Series 5 Router supports device-specific applications described in Chapter 5, Application View in this guide. Routing - AppleTalk (wf5appletlkapp) - DECnet (wf5decnetapp) - IPX (wf5ipxapp) - XNS (wf5xnsapp) TFTP (wf5tftpapp) The following major application models are also supported and SPECTRUM management of these MIBs may be purchased separately. Refer to the documentation provided with the following applications for descriptions of their capabilities. Routing Services (CtRouter) DLM (DLM_Agent) Standard RMON (RMONApp) - Ethernet Probe 2 (RMONEthProbe) - Ethernet Probe 4 (RMONEthProbe) through Ethernet Probe 29 (RMONEthProbe) Introduction 1-2 Wellfleet Series 5 Router

44 Chapter 5 Application View What Is in This Chapter This chapter describes the Wellfleet Series 5 Router Management Module Application view. This view provides buttons that allow you to access increasingly detailed information about the applications supported by these devices. Application-Specific Views The Application view allows you to view information on any standard MIB application supported by the Wellfleet Series 5 Router being modeled. Each application appears as an icon or a list entry in the Application view. SPECTRUM management of a Wellfleet Series 5 Router is based on common and device-specific applications, which fall into three general categories: Routing, MIB-II, and TFTP. The following common applications and subapplications are discussed in the Application View Reference: Routing - IP (IPRtrApp) MIB-II - System (System2_App) - TCP (TCP2_App) - UDP (UDP2_App) - ICMP (ICMP_App) E7 Application View 5-1

45 Accessing the Application View Device-specific applications and sub-applications discussed in this chapter include the following: Routing - AppleTalk (wf5appletlkapp) - DECnet (wf5decnetapp) - IPX (wf5ipxapp) - XNS (wf5xnsapp) TFTP (wf5tftpapp) Accessing the Application View The Application view is accessed using one of the following methods: Double-click on the Application view label of the device icon. Application view label Highlight the device icon and select Application from the Icon Subviews menu. Go Back Go Up Icon Subviews View Path New View Bookmarks View History Current View Info... Notes... Jump by name... Zoom Map Hierarchy Device DevTop Application Acknowledge Flash Green Enabled Configuration Model Information Primary Application The Application view can be displayed in two modes; the icon mode and the list mode. Select Mode -> List or Mode -> Icon from the View menu. An example of an Application view in the icon mode is shown in Figure 5-1. An example of the same Application view in the list mode is shown in Figure 5-2. Application View 5-2 Wellfleet Series 5 Router
