7 Intrductin The is designed t help yu thrugh the prcess f installing and cnfiguring Office Cnnect. AvePint Office Cnnect allws yu t: Share lcal files (files n yur cmputer and attachments in new s) with ther users. Using the Quick Share feature, yu have cmplete cntrl ver wh accesses the file and what kind f actins yu will allw users t take n this file. A cpy f the file remains n the riginal lcatin, and depending upn the permissins yu cnfigure, the file in the selected Quick Share lcatin is free t be edited, reviewed, r cmmented n fr as lng as yu require. Uplad lcal files (files in Windws File Explrer, s and attachments in Outlk) t SharePint libraries, lists, and flders. Users wh have sufficient permissins t the SharePint libraries, lists, r flders will be able t view and/r edit the files. When uplading a file t SharePint, yu can change the cntent type and apply metadata tags, allwing it t be searched fr and classified easily. AvePint Office Cnnect als integrates with AvePint Perimeter and AvePint Perimeter Online, which allws internal users t share files with external users. 13 Installing Office Cnnect The Office Cnnect Installatin Wizard will guide yu thrugh the installatin prcess. In rder t cmplete the installatin successfully, a lcal administratr must be used t run the Installatin Wizard. Yu need t install Office Cnnect in the fllwing rder: 1. Install the Office Cnnect Manager with the Manager Installatin Wizard. *Nte: This step can be skipped if yu want t cnnect t the Office Cnnect Online Manager. Fr mre infrmatin abut the Office Cnnect Online Manager, refer t Office Cnnect Online Manager Administratin Guide. 2. Install the Office Cnnect Clients with the Office Cnnect Installatin Wizard. 3. Open Office Cnnect t make sure the Manager and Clients are able t cmmunicate with each ther prperly. If yur client cnnects t the Office Cnnect Online Manager, make sure the client has netwrk cnnectin. 4. Activate Office Cnnect by deplying the Office Cnnect slutin. Required Permissins Ensure the user wh installs Office Cnnect Manager has the fllwing lcal system permissins: Read & execute and Write permissins t the installatin directry f the Office Cnnect Manager. Ensure the accunt that is used when cnfiguring the Office Cnnect Database has the fllwing permissins: Database Rle f db_wner in the cnfigured Office Cnnect Database. Server Rle f dbcreatr in SQL Server. Installing Office Cnnect Manager Office Cnnect Manager can be installed n the fllwing envirnments: Windws 10 Windws 8 Windws 7 Windws Server 2012 R2 Windws Server 2012 Windws Server 2008 R2 13

14 Windws Server 2008 T install Office Cnnect Manager, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Dwnlad the Manager ZIP file, either by requesting a dem versin r by cntacting an AvePint representative fr links t this package. 2. Extract this package n the server that is in the same dmain as the SharePint yu want t use and navigate t the Office Cnnect Manager directry. Duble-click the Setup.exe file. 3. After the welcme screen appears, click Install. 4. Carefully review the License Agreement. After yu have read the agreement, select the I accept the terms in the license agreement. checkbx, and click Next. *Nte: After the Manager installatin cmpletes, yu can navigate t the Manager installatin path \OCT\Manager\lic t check all f the dem license agreements. 5. Click the Brwse buttn. Select the lcatin fr the Manager installatin. By default, the installatin lcatin is C:\Prgram Files (x86)\avepint\oct Manager fr 64-bit perating system, and C:\Prgram Files\AvePint\OCT Manager fr 32-bit perating system. Click Next. 6. Office Cnnect will perfrm a brief pre-scan f the envirnment t ensure that all rules meet the requirements. The status fr each rule will be listed in the Status clumn. Click the hyperlink f the status t display the scan result s detailed infrmatin. Yu can als click Detail t view the detailed infrmatin f all f the requirements. *Nte: Yu cannt cntinue the installatin if any f the rules have the Failed status. A Failed status means that yur system des nt meet the minimum requirement f the crrespnding rule, and yu must update yur envirnment t meet the Office Cnnect system requirements. Click the Rescan buttn t check yur envirnment again. If any f the rules fail, yu must manually update yur envirnment t meet the requirement. If any f the rules have a Warning status, yur system meets the minimum requirement f the crrespnding rule but des nt meet the recmmended cnditin. In this case, yu can still click Next t cnfigure the Service Cnfiguratin. If all f the rules are Passed, yur system meets all f the recmmended cnditins in the Office Cnnect Manager system requirements. Click Next t cnfigure the Service Cnfiguratin. 7. Set up the Office Cnnect Service Cnfiguratin: Office Cnnect Service Prt Enter a prt fr the Office Cnnect service. The default prt is Click Next t prceed and cnfigure the database settings fr the Office Cnnect service. 8. The MS SQL Database Type is the default ptin and cannt be cnfigured. Database Server The MS SQL server name. 14

15 Database Name Enter a database name fr the Office Cnnect service. If the database des nt exist, it will be created in the prvided MS SQL server. Database Credentials Select the credentials fr this database. Windws Authenticatin (the default ptin) Use this methd when yu want the user identity t be cnfirmed by Windws. SQL Authenticatin SQL server will cnfirm the user identity itself accrding t the specified accunt and passwrd. *Nte: The accunt must have the fllwing permissin: db_wner database rle in the existing database r dbcreatr server rle in the SQL Server that will cntain the newly created database. Click Next t cnfigure the Activity Reprt Settings. 9. Selecting the Cnfigure activity reprt settings later checkbx allws yu t cnfigure the activity reprt settings later using the Manager Cnfiguratin Tl. Fr mre infrmatin, refer t Mdifying Office Cnnect Settings after Installatin. *Nte: The OCT Activity Reprt ( ) shrtcut is available n the desktp f the Office Cnnect Manager server when activity reprt settings are cnfigured. IIS Web Site Settings Cnfigure the IIS web site settings t access the Office Cnnect database. Yu can select t use an existing IIS web site r create a new IIS web site. The IIS web site is used t retrieve user activities frm the Office Cnnect database, and display them in the Activity Reprt dashbard. Use an existing IIS web site Select an existing IIS web site frm the drp-dwn list, and if necessary, yu can adjust the Web Site Prt used t access the Office Cnnect database. Create a new IIS web site Enter the web site name t create a new IIS web site fr the Office Cnnect database. Web Site Prt Office Cnnect service cmmunicatin prt. The default prt is Yu d nt need t change it unless a knwn prt cnflict exists. Applicatin Pl Settings Cnfigure the IIS applicatin pl settings fr the crrespnding web site. Yu can select t use an existing applicatin pl r create a new applicatin pl. The applicatin pl is used t handle the requests sent t the crrespnding web site. Use an existing applicatin pl Select an existing applicatin pl frm the drp-dwn list. If yu chse t use an existing applicatin pl, the Applicatin Pl Accunt settings are grayed ut and cannt be changed. Create a new applicatin pl Enter the applicatin pl name and applicatin pl accunt settings t create a new IIS applicatin pl fr the crrespnding web site. 15

16 Activity Reprt Management Enter the name f users t be administratrs f the Office Cnnect Activity Reprt dashbard. Separate user names with a semicln. Prxy Server Settings Enter the public URL that can frward requests t the Activity Reprt. Cnfigure this setting if yu publish the Activity Reprt via reverse prxy. Click Next t cntinue t cnfigure the SharePint settings. 10. Set up the SharePint Settings: SharePint Server Settings Cnfigure at least ne SharePint envirnment within which Office Cnnect functinalities will be used. Select the Use SharePint Server Settings checkbx t cnfigure a SharePint On-premises site cllectin URL. This site cllectin is used t cnnect t the Office Cnnect slutin by the Office Cnnect Client. SharePint Site Cllectin URL Enter the URL f a SharePint Onpremises site cllectin that can be accessed n the Office Cnnect Client. Username Enter the username f the accunt that is a member f the Farm Administratrs grup. Passwrd Enter the passwrd f the accunt. Select the Use SharePint Online Settings checkbx t cnfigure the SharePint Online envirnment within which Office Cnnect functinalities will be used. SharePint Admin Center URL Enter the SharePint Admin Center URL. Username Enter the username f the accunt that has the Glbal administratr rle t the SharePint Admin Center. Passwrd Enter the passwrd f the accunt. Click Next t cnfigure the settings. 11. In the Cnfiguratin page, yu can select the Cnfigure cnfiguratin later checkbx t cnfigure the cnfiguratins using the Manager Cnfiguratin Tl. Fr mre infrmatin, refer t Mdifying Office Cnnect Settings after Installatin. Outging server (SMTP) Enter the address f the utging server. Prt Enter the SMTP prt. The default SMTP prt is 25. Fr SSL authenticatin, the default prt is 587. Sender Enter the address f the Office Cnnect user wh is sending the ntificatin. Send annymus Select this checkbx t cnfigure the SMTP server as annymus based n the SMTP server settings. Username n SMTP Enter the annymus sender s username n the SMTP server. 16

17 Passwrd n SMTP Enter the annymus sender s passwrd t lg nt the SMTP server. SSL authenticatin Cnfigure this ptin accrding t yur settings. Click Next t start the installatin. 12. When the Manager installatin is cmpleted, click Finish t cmplete the installatin and exit the installatin wizard. Installing an Office Cnnect Client An Office Cnnect Client can be installed n the fllwing cmmn Windws envirnments: Windws 10 Windws 8 Windws 7 Windws Server 2012 R2 Windws Server 2012 Windws Server 2008 R2 Windws Server 2008 Installing an Office Cnnect Client Using the ZIP Package After the Office Cnnect service t which the client will cnnect has been started, cmplete the fllwing steps t install the Office Cnnect Client using the ZIP package: *Nte: T ensure Office Cnnect functinalities wrk, make sure Micrsft Office 2010, 2013, r 2016 and Micrsft Outlk 2010, 2013, r 2016 are installed n the server. 1. Dwnlad the Client ZIP file, either by requesting a dem versin r by cntacting an AvePint representative fr links t this package. 2. Extract this package and navigate t the Office Cnnect Client directry. Duble-click the Setup.exe file. 3. Frm the welcme screen, click Install. 4. Carefully review the Office Cnnect License Agreement, select the I accept the terms in the license agreement. checkbx, and then click Next. *Nte: After the Client installatin cmpletes, yu can navigate t the Client installatin path \OCT\Agent\lic t check all f the dem license agreements. 5. Click the Brwse buttn. Select the lcatin fr the Client installatin. By default, the installatin lcatin is C:\Prgram Files (x86)\avepint\oct Agent fr 64-bit perating system, and C:\Prgram Files\AvePint\OCT Agent fr 32-bit perating system. Click Next. 17

18 6. A pp-up message will appear infrming yu t clse all Micrsft Office applicatins t ensure Office Cnnect is fully functinal after the installatin. If yu are unable t d s at this time, restart yur cmputer after the installatin. Click OK t prceed t Rule Scanning. 7. Office Cnnect will perfrm a brief pre-scan f the envirnment t ensure that all rules meet the requirements. The status fr each rule will be listed in the Status clumn. Click the hyperlink f the status t view the scan result s detailed infrmatin, r click Detail t view the detailed infrmatin n all f the requirements. *Nte: Yu cannt cntinue the installatin if the Status f any f the rules is Failed. A Failed status means that yur system des nt meet the minimum requirement f the crrespnding rule, and yu must update yur envirnment t meet the Office Cnnect Client system requirements. Click the Rescan buttn t check yur envirnment again. If any f the fllwing rules fails, yu must manually update yur envirnment t meet the rules: Operating System Editin, Available Disk Space,.Net Framewrk Versin,.NET Framewrk Features, and VSTO 2010 Runtime Tl Installatin Status. If the status f any rule is Warning, yur system meets the minimum requirement f the crrespnding rule, but des nt meet the recmmended cnditin. In this case, yu can still click Next t cnfigure the Cmmunicatin Cnfiguratin. If all f the rule statuses are Passed, yur system meets all f the recmmended cnditins in the Office Cnnect Client system requirements. Click Next t cnfigure the Cmmunicatin Cnfiguratin. 8. Set up the Cmmunicatin Cnfiguratin between the Client hst and the Office Cnnect service hst: Online Manager Cnnect t the Office Cnnect Online Manager. Lcal Manager Cnnect t the lcal manager. Cmplete the lcal manager infrmatin belw: Office Cnnect Service Hst The hstname r IP address f the machine where the Office Cnnect service is installed. Office Cnnect Service Prt This is the prt used t cmmunicate with the Office Cnnect service and shuld match the infrmatin prvided during the Manager cnfiguratin. *Nte: Make sure the Office Cnnect service has been installed n the machine that can cmmunicate with the current server. Click Next t start the installatin. 9. After the installatin, yu will be brught t the Install Cmpleted page. By default, the Launch Office Cnnect after installatin checkbx is selected in this page. Click Finish t exit the installatin wizard and pen Office Cnnect directly. Yu can als deselect this checkbx and click Finish t exit the installatin wizard nly. Office Cnnect is nw installed and cnfigured. 18

19 Installing an Office Cnnect Client Using the MSI Package The MSI package allws the administratr t remtely install Office Cnnect Client fr all Active Directry (AD) users using the grup plicy. There are three methds t install Office Cnnect Client using the MSI package. First Methd: After the Office Cnnect service t which the client will cnnect has been started, cmplete the fllwing steps t install the Office Cnnect Client using the MSI package: *Nte: Installing Office Cnnect Client using this methd, the publisher f the installatin package will be changed t unknwn. 1. Dwnlad the Client MSI file, either by requesting a dem versin r by cntacting an AvePint representative fr links t this package. 2. Install the Micrsft Windws SDK (winsdk_web.exe). 3. G t the installatin directry f the Micrsft Windws SDK, and find the Orca.Msi file. 4. Run the Orca.Msi t install the MSI editr tl. 5. Mdify the custm prperty f the MSI file. 6. Perfrm the installatin using grup plicy. Fr mre infrmatin, refer t Use Grup Plicy t Remtely Install r Uninstall Sftware. The fllwing steps can be skipped if the Office Cnnect Client cnnects t the Office Cnnect Online Manager. T cnnect t a lcal Office Cnnect Manager, cmplete the fllwing steps t mdify the custm prperty f the MSI file: 1. Right-click the MSI file, and select the Edit with Orca ptin frm the drp-dwn menu. 2. In the pp-up windw, find the CustmActin table. 3. Click the table, and the detailed infrmatin is displayed n the right pane f the windw. 4. In the Target clumn, find the fllwing clumn value: /installtype=ntransactin /actin=install /LgFile= /ServiceHst="[ServiceHst]" /ServicePrt="14301" /PrductType="[PRODUCTTYPE]" "[#_1A17AF6887BC34D036C0513A1A8BC07F]" "[VSDFxCnfigFile]" 5. Replace [ServiceHst] with the hstname r IP address f the machine where the Office Cnnect service is installed. 6. Click the Save ( ) buttn t save changes, and then clse the windw. 19

20 Secnd Methd: On the server where yu want t install Office Cnnect Client, find the Cmmand Prmpt. Right-click the Cmmand Prmpt and select the Run as administratr ptin frm the drp-dwn list. Enter the fllwing cmmands t install Office Cnnect Client: Full Path f the MSI Package ServiceHst= Service Prt= Third Methd: After the Office Cnnect service t which the client will cnnect has been started, cmplete the fllwing steps t install the Office Cnnect Client using the MSI package: 1. Dwnlad the Client MSI file, either by requesting a dem versin r by cntacting an AvePint representative fr links t this package. 2. Install the Micrsft Windws SDK (winsdk_web.exe). 3. G t the installatin directry f the Micrsft Windws SDK, and find the Orca.Msi file. 4. Run the Orca.Msi t install the MSI editr tl. 5. Right-click the MSI file, and select the Edit with Orca ptin frm the drp-dwn menu. 6. In the pp-up windw, click Transfrm and select New Transfrm frm the drp-dwn list. 7. Click the CustmActin table, and the detailed infrmatin is displayed n the right pane f the windw. 8. In the Target clumn, find the fllwing clumn value: /installtype=ntransactin /actin=install /LgFile= /ServiceHst="[ServiceHst]" /ServicePrt="14301" /PrductType="[PRODUCTTYPE]" "[#_1A17AF6887BC34D036C0513A1A8BC07F]" "[VSDFxCnfigFile]" 9. Replace [ServiceHst] with the hstname r IP address f the machine where the Office Cnnect service is installed. 10. Click Transfrm and select Generate Transfrm frm the drp-dwn list. A.mst file with the name yu defined is generated in the same flder as the.msi file. 11. Open the Cmmand Prmpt n this server, right-click it and select Run as administratr frm the drp-dwn list. 12. Enter the fllwing cmmands and press Enter n the keybard t execute the cmmands. Msiexec /i Full path f the MSI Package /T Full Path f the.mst file Fr mre infrmatin n the available cmmands, refer t the article 20

21 Deplying the Office Cnnect Slutin All site cllectins that an end user has permissins t access will be listed in the end user s Office Cnnect Site Cllectin Scan tab after clicking Scan. In rder t identify and create this list, the Office Cnnect slutin must be deplyed. *Nte: This sectin can be skipped if yu cnnect t the Office Cnnect Online Manager. Fllw the instructins belw t deply the Office Cnnect slutin t yur envirnment. 1. On the Office Cnnect Manager server, navigate t \OCT\Manager\bin directry. 2. Cpy the flder named slutin and paste it t an easy-t-find lcatin n a SharePint Central Administratin r Web frnt-end server. 3. On the server where yu pasted the slutin flder, right-click Windws PwerShell and select the Run as administratr ptin. 4. In the pp-up windw, enter the fllwing cmmands t add the slutin t SharePint. a. Enter the cmmand cd\ and press Enter n the keybard. b. Open Central Administratin. 8. Navigate t Applicatin Management > Manage web applicatins. 9. Select the Web applicatin where the Office Cnnect slutin has deplyed, click Manage Features in the Manage grup n the ribbn. 10. Find the Web applicatin feature Office Cnnect Cntent Type Custmizatin Feature, and click Activate t activate the feature. 23 Cnfiguring Office Cnnect On the Office Cnnect Manager server, yu can find the OCTManagerAdminSetting.xml and OCTManagerEnv.cnfig files in the \OCT\Manager\data directry. The OCTManagerAdminSetting.xml and OCTManagerEnv.cnfig files allw administratrs t cnfigure Office Cnnect settings fr end users. After these cnfiguratin files are mdified, settings will be synchrnized frm the Manager server t the crrespnding Client servers. Cnfiguring Dmain Settings If the dmain name and NetBIOS name f the dmain in yur envirnment are different, cnfigure the dmain settings in the OCTManagerDmainFilter.cnfig file t make sure the Quick Share feature wrks. 1. Open the OCTManagerDmainFilter.cnfig file with Ntepad. 2. The OCTManagerEnv.cnfig file allws administratrs t disable the autmatic user registratin functinality. 1. Open the OCTManagerEnv.cnfig file with Ntepad. 2. Find the <LicenseSetting> nde. 3. In this nde, find the <RegisteredUser>True</RegisteredUser> nde. 4. Replace True with False in the nde. 5. Save changes t this file and clse it. After this functinality is disabled, users that use Office Cnnect will nt be autmatically registered, but they will be listed in the Unregistered Users list f the User Management page f the Manager Cnfiguratin Tl. They can be registered manually by administratrs in the User Management page. Cnfiguring the User Retentin Interval Cnfigure the OCTManagerEnv.cnfig file t define the retentin interval fr dead accunts and users wh have uninstalled Office Cnnect frm their machines. The default interval is 30 days. 1. Open the OCTManagerEnv.cnfig file with Ntepad. 2. Find the <RetentinUserSchedule>30</RetentinUserSchedule> nde. 3.
