Cncurrent User License (CU): End User may install and use the Sftware n multiple Designated Prcessrs r ne r mre Servers, s lng as nly the licensed number f Units are accessing and using the Sftware at any given time. A "Unit" means the unit n which Avaya, at its sle discretin, bases the pricing f its licenses and can be, withut limitatin, an agent, prt r user, an r vice mail accunt in the name f a persn r crprate functin (e.g., webmaster r helpdesk), r a directry entry in the administrative database utilized by the Prduct that permits ne user t interface with the Sftware. Database License (DL): Custmer may install and use each cpy f the Sftware n ne Server r n multiple Servers prvided that each f the Servers n which the Sftware is installed cmmunicate with n mre than a single instance f the same database. CPU License (CP): End User may install and use each cpy f the Sftware n a number f Servers up t the number indicated by Avaya prvided that the perfrmance capacity f the Server(s) des nt exceed the perfrmance capacity specified fr the Sftware. End User may nt re-install r perate the Sftware n Server(s) with a larger perfrmance capacity withut Avaya's prir cnsent and payment f an upgrade fee. Named User License (NU): Custmer may: (i) install and use the Sftware n a single Designated Prcessr r Server per authrized Named User (defined belw); r (ii) install and use the Sftware n a Server s lng as nly authrized Named Users access and use the Sftware. "Named User," means a user r device that has been expressly authrized by Avaya t access and use the Sftware. At Avaya's sle discretin, a "Named User" may be, withut limitatin, designated by name, crprate functin (e.g., webmaster r helpdesk), an r vice mail accunt in the name f a persn r crprate functin, r a directry entry in the administrative database utilized by the Prduct that permits ne user t interface with the Prduct. Shrinkwrap License (SR): With respect t Sftware that cntains elements prvided by third party suppliers, End User may install and use the Sftware in accrdance with the terms and cnditins f the applicable license agreements, such as "shrinkwrap" r "clickwrap" license accmpanying r applicable t the Sftware ("Shrinkwrap License"). The text f the Shrinkwrap License will be available frm Avaya upn End User s request (see Third-party Cmpnents" fr mre infrmatin). Cpyright: Except where expressly stated therwise, the Prduct is prtected by cpyright and ther laws respecting prprietary rights. Unauthrized reprductin, transfer, and r use can be a criminal, as well as a civil, ffense under the applicable law. Third-party cmpnents: Certain sftware prgrams r prtins theref included in the Prduct may cntain sftware distributed under third party agreements ("Third Party Cmpnents"), which may cntain terms that expand r limit rights t use certain prtins f the Prduct ("Third Party Terms"). This dcument details the steps t install the Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable Operating System n IBM x3650 M2 r HP PrLiant DL 385 G2/G5 Server. Befre prceeding with this release nte, see the dcument, Sequence f using Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Release Ntes, n the Avaya Supprt site ( t determine the crrect rder f referring t varius release ntes fr Avaya Practive Cntact Prerequisites 1.1. Obtaining Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable Yu can rder all the CDs r DVDs fr Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 using the high level bundle cde There are tw ways t btain this release: Ordering the installatin CD labeled Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable, Material ID: Dwnlading the ISO file frm Avaya supprt site and writing it t a CD. T dwnlad the ISO file: 1. G t Avaya Supprt site at 2. In the left pane, click Dwnlads. 3. In the Please enter the name f yur prduct text bx, type Practive Cntact. 4. Select the Practive Cntact ptin that appears belw the text bx. The system redirects the webpage t the Avaya Practive Cntact page. 5. Frm the versin drp-dwn bx, select 4.2.x. 6. Dwnlad the Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable ISO file. T write the ISO file t a CD: 1. Insert a blank writable CD in the CD/DVD RW drive. NOTE: Yu can use any available CD writing tl, such as Rxi r Ner t write the ISO file t a CD. 2. Select the Image burning ptin frm the CD writing sftware. Fr Rxi, select Cpy > Burn Image. Fr Ner Express, select Image >Prject > Cpy > Disc Image r Saved Prject. 3. Brwse and select the ISO image fr burning. Wait until the CD burning is cmpleted. 4. Take back up f the existing data befre yu prceed. Identify the hstname that is t be assigned t the cmputer. Als, identify the IP addresses that are t be assigned t the built-in netwrk interfaces f the machine. D nt install the perating system n a cmputer whse netwrk interface is either nt cnnected r terminated. The perating system sftware includes drivers fr the netwrk interfaces. If a valid interface des nt exist at the time Page 5

8 f installatin, the vital sftware might nt get installed r cnfigured successfully. Bth eth0 and eth1 shuld be active and plugged int a switch r hub Installatin Prcedure T install Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable: 1. Insert Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable CD in the CD/DVD ROM f the server. 2. Bt the server with the Avaya Practive Cntact 4.2 Linux ES Btable CD. 3. At the bt: prmpt, type expert and press Enter. The Please press Enter t activate this cnsle prmpt appears. 4. Press Enter. The What D Yu Want T D? screen appears. 5. Keep the default ptin, Install frm CD/DVD. Tab t OK and press Enter. 6. In the Select an Installatin Drive screen, tab t the Hard Disk ptin and press Spacebar t select the hard disk. Tab t OK and press Enter. Usually there are n changes in this menu. Keep the default values. 7. In the Warning Frmat Disk Warning screen, the message, Warning: The installatin prcess will frmat the /xxx/xxx drive. Frmatting will erase existing data. Are yu sure yu want t cntinue? appears. Tab t Yes and press Enter. 8. Frm the list f Server Type, press Spacebar t select ne f the fllwing: HPDL385G2, if yu have HP Prliant DL385G2/G5 server IBMX3550, if yu have IBM x3650 M2 Server 9. Tab t OK and press Enter. 10. On the What D Yu Want T D? menu, select the default ( Install Linux OS + PC4.0 Addns ) ptin. Tab t OK and press Enter. 11. On the Select Optinal Applicatins menu, select the default ptins. The fllwing ptins are selected by default: Linux Operating System RHE4.0-AV13.1 Cre Services Cnfiguratin RHE4.0-AV13.1 Avaya PC4.0 OS Addns Tab t OK and press Enter. 12. On the Date/Time Initializatin screen, set the fllwing parameters using the up r dwn arrw key. T mve t the ther fields, press Tab: TimeZne Date Year Page 6

9 Time NTP Server (recmmended fr a pdded system) 13. Tab t OK and press Enter. 14. On the Cnfigure Netwrk Infrmatin screen: Backspace ver server1 and enter yur hstname and press Tab. If required, fill in the DNS Dmain field (Fr example DNS Dmain = rnd.avaya.cm) and press Tab. If required, fill in the DNS Server field (Fr example DNS Server = ) and press Tab. Enter the IP addresses and the netmasks fr eth0 and eth1. Enable the Ethernet card as required. If required, enter the default gateway address. 15. Tab t OK and press Enter. 16. In the Rebt after Install? prmpt, press Y and press Enter. The cmputer starts the partitining f the hard disk. After the partitining is cmplete, the sftware starts lading. When the installatin is cmplete, the Disk Master Cmplete message appears. The cmputer rebts autmatically. NOTE: After installing the Operating System, the cmputer rebts twice Pst-Installatin Prcedure Frm the cnsle, lgin as srt user. (See Appendix A fr default accunts.) After the installatin is cmplete, verify the fllwing: IP address and hstname. Type /sbin/ifcnfig and press Enter. The IP details are displayed n the secnd line f the utput. Fr example, inet addr: The UP BROADCAST RUNNING message is displayed n the furth line f the utput. Verify the IP address and hstname that appear in /etc/hsts. Ensure that yu can ping the self hstname, Fr example, ping rdhp16. Default Gateway Check the netstat r ruting table. Verify that the entry against the default Destinatin is set t the IP address that has been given in the Cnfigure Netwrk Infrmatin windw at the time f installing the OS. Page 7

10 If required, set the default gateway with the fllwing: /sbin/rute add default gw <default gateway IP address> Ensure that yu can successfully ping a machine n anther subnet. Partitin Layut Execute the df h cmmand. Yu shuld be able t see infrmatin similar t the example that is given belw.
