Fr a thrugh evaluatin f SOC CODECs' capabilities, please refer t the User Guide and varius API Manuals after reading this guide. 1. Kit Cntents 1. VTR-4000B Encder Carrier-Bard 2. Encder Mdule 3. Aut switching between the 2 prts is nt supprted at this pint. 4. Sending Streams Encder Kit t PC Checklist: 1. Cables cnnected (See 3. Cnnecting the System). Ethernet cable cnnected frm bard t PC 2. Serial terminal with serial prt (COM prt) pen n PC. Carrier-bard > Destinatin IP matches PC's IP address. (See Carrier Bard API Manual) 3. On PC, VLC listening n udp://@:1234 (1234 is default prt, can be changed in Carrier-Bard API)

3 Nte: H.265 Decding is a resurce-intensive peratin. We advise that custmers use highperfrmance desktp wrkstatins rather than laptps/netbks t decde H.265 streams. Playback will be smther, and it wuld be easier t judge the quality and perfrmance. Fr smther playback when PC perfrmance is limited, lwer the bitrate r frame rate thrugh the API (See Encder Mdule API Manual). Recmmended PC cnfiguratin fr H.265 playback n VLC: CPU: Intel Xen E5-2637v3, 3.5GHz Graphics card: NVIDIA Quadr K620, 2Gb DDR3 Encder Kit t Decder Kit Checklist: 1. Cables cnnected (See 3. API Interface When the USB-UART Cable is cnnected frm bard t PC, the PC will expse a serial (COM) prt. Yu can find this prt in Windws in Device Manager > COM Prts. Use the fllwing settings fr the serial prt: Baud rate: Data bits: 8 Parity: Nne Stp bits: 1

4 Flw cntrl: Nne The serial link is shared by the carrier bard and the mdule endpints, ne at a time. The API endpint mde can be cycled by pressing the API Mde Cycle buttn. API Mde LED indicates the endpint that is currently linked. Yu may press ESC (r ENTER withut entering a value) t cycle the prmpt. Imprtant: Backspace is nt supprted. If yu make a mistake, use ESC t cycle back and restart the input. New API 2.0 frmat API 2.0 prmpt lks like this: > The New API ffers a simplified interface that is easier t autmate and script. T read/write values n mdule endpints send: Read a register value: R <address hex> Change a register value W <address hex> <value hex> Legacy API 1.0 frmat Legacy API prmpt lks like this: Enter an address(hex): The API will expse an address-value prmpt-lp. T change values, enter the register address at the address prmpt (in hex), and then the decimal value at the value prmpt, fllwed by enter. Hex values are als accepted when given an h prefix/suffix, (ex. 4ABCh r h4abc represent 0x4ABC) Yu can safely press ESC at any time t cycle the prmpt withut changing current values.
