3 DSP Prtal Editin 4.3 DSP Prtal Editin is a framewrk fr presenting business intelligence in crprate prtals. It was designed t ffer ease f use, t be inexpensive, and t integrate with market-leading analysis tls. The slutin supprts the Micrsft Web Parts standard, enables wrkers t publish the DSP Prtal Editin BI Web Parts directly t the crprate prtal, using a wizard. The tightly integrated slutin can be used with Micrsft SharePint Prducts. Included BI web parts, are designed t enable managers t present key perfrmance indicatrs and ther analytical infrmatin in a simple and effective manner. It als enables firms t launch analysis tls and supprts cllabratin. The slutin sends analysis by directly frm the BI Web Parts. Included in this versin Web Parts Trend - Presents a measure ver time with cmparative clr cding. Z Graph - Presents measures ver time, year-t-date and rlling 12 fr tw cmparative measures. Clumn, Line, Clumn/Line, Pie, Gauge, Stacked Clumn and Stacked Area - Shwing measures in different graph frms. Table - Shwing measures in a table frm. Filter Selectr - Enables t filter cnnected web parts. Wizards Web Part Wizard - fr creating and cnfigure web parts and BSM (Business Screcard Manager) reprt views. 4 Hw it wrks DSP Prtal Editin cnsists f a family f analysis tls enabling users t publish, analyze, and cllabrate n infrmatin frm a data warehuse that uses SQL Analysis Services. Web Part Web Parts are the building blcks f Web Part Pages. The web parts can display infrmatin frm OLAP cubes as Trend, Z-Chart, Table and Chart (Gauge, Clumn, Line, Clumn/Line, Stacked Clumn, Stacked Area and Pie). T view a page web parts yu d nt need any additinal cmpnents installed then standard Internet Explrer installatin. Web Part Wizard The wizard is the tl fr creating and cnfiguring web parts. PTS is used t cnnect and cllecting meta data frm the data surce. Analysis Client The Analysis Client cnsists f wrappers arund OWC (Micrsft Office Web Cmpnents 2000, XP and 2003), PrClarity and Executive Viewer) and yu can use this tl t brwse yur cube data. When clicking Detail Link (header text) n the Web Part, the Analysis Client is used t give yu a starting pint fr further analysis. These clients use PTS t cnnect directly t the data surce. Linked Resurces (Script files, Style sheets, Images) Web Parts uses linked resurces like script files, style sheets and images. 2

5 Hw it wrks These files are stred in a subflder t the glbal Web Part resurce flder n the SharePint server (/Prgram files/cmmn files/micrsft shared/web server extensins/wpresurces/decisinsupprtpanel.sharepint.webpart/+ versinnumber). HTML Template files Each web part is built frm html templates. Caching - WP Cache ( Web Part Cache) The cache minimizes the amunt f queries against the data surce.. Lgging It is pssible t lg activities by turning n lgging. Web Part Server The Web Part Server handles the querying against the data surce and using PTS t cnnect t the data surce. Web Part Assembly Each web part running in the SharePint envirnment must have an assembly assciatin. Our web parts are assciated with DecisinSupprtPanel.SharePint.WebPart. 3

6 Installatin DSP Prtal Editin cnsists f a server part and a client part. The client part cnsists f the Web Part Wizard (used t create and edit web parts), Analysis Client (used t view AdHc client). The server part cnsists f a Web Part Assembly, dll files and resurces used by the Web Parts. See chapter Files installed n yur system fr a cmplete list f installed files. Requirements fr the client Micrsft Internet Explrer 5.5 r higher (Active scripting must be enabled) T be able t send analysis and Web Parts yu have t have Outlk 2000 r higher. T be able t launch an AdHc client frm a Web Part yu need at least ne f these cmpnents n the client: Micrsft Office Web Cmpnents OWC (2000, XP r 2003) MS Data Analyzer PrClarity 5.3 r 6.0 Executive Viewer PTS (Pivt Table Services) Service Pack 3 fr AS 2000 r higher r PTS fr AS What is PTS? PTS PivtTable Service is a cllectin f dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) that yu need have installed n yur cmputer t be able t cnnect t Analysis Services r a cube file. There are tw setup prgrams fr PTS, Ptslite.exe and Ptsfull.exe. They are prvided n the SQL Server CD-ROM, in the flder \Mslap\Install\Pts. Ptslite.exe installs the PivtTable Service files nly. Ptsfull.exe installs the PivtTable Service files and Micrsft Data Access Cmpnents (MDAC) that is required fr PTS t wrk. Yu need t use same versin f PTS n yur client as n yur Analysis Services machine. Please visit Micrsft's SQL Server Hme page t find infrmatin f latest service pack fr SQL Server. Installatin T be able t add/view DSP BI Web Parts in SharePint pages yu have t install DSP Web Part cmpnents n yur SharePint server. The installatin package fr DSP Prtal Editin cnsists f ne msi file. This file is used bth fr server and client installatin. Server installatin 4

7 Installatin The web part package will be installed n all existing virtual servers. If adding a new virtual server after the installatin f DSP BI Web Parts yu have t run install.bat (..\prgram files\dsp analysis client\web part). T be able t use shipped dem cube yu have t select Custm r Cmplete installatin. Client installatin DSP Client must be installed n each cmputer that will be used t create Web Parts r using the Launch r Send cmmands frm the Web Part. It is pssible t install bth client and server cmpnents n the same machine by selecting Custm r Cmplete installatin. Upgrading Upgrading frm earlier retail versins will be handled autmatically by the installatin prgram. Installed trial versins needs t be remved manually befre starting the installatin. Web parts created with retail versin r trial versin will cntinue t wrk after this installatin f this retail versin. Assembly Versin 4.3 has n update n assembly Versin r PublickeyTken. It will replace existing installed 4.x assembly. Therefre can nt versin 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 r 4.3 run side by side n ne server installatin. 5

8 Analysis Server and SharePint n separate machines Due t Windws security restrictins that blcks the pssibility t access a third machine in a request, i.e. multi-server hp, there are three pssible ways t set up the security fr DSPWeb Part Server t access a cube: 1. Run SharePint, Web Part Server and Analysis Services n the same machines. 2. Use Kerbers Authenticatin with delegatin. See Kerbers Authenticatin and Delegatin sectin in this dcument. 3. Cnfigure Web Part Server t run in as a COM+ applicatin. See Cnfigure Web Part Server t run in COM+ sectin in this dcument. If yu want need access the cube with individual user rles, then must alternative 1 r 2 be used. 6

9 Kerbers Authenticatin and Delegatin The Kerbers authenticatin prtcl is a technlgy fr single sign-n t netwrk resurces. This enables web parts t access remte resurces i.e. it makes it pssible fr web part t access cube infrmatin frm Analysis Services running n anther machine then yur SharePint machine with lgged n/page user identity. All infrmatin in this dcument is based n fllwing articles and Requirements All accunts (including machine accunts) must belng t the same Windws 2000/2003 based Active Directry dmain (r t trusted dmains in the same frest). User accunt (s) must allw delegatin (default). The user accunt (s) yu want t be delegated must have the Accunt Is Sensitive And Cannt Be Delegated ptin cleared (i.e. nt checked). Yu'll find this prperty in Active Directry Users, under the Accunt prperty tab. If running Analysis Services 2000 yu must have SP3 r higher. SP3 r higher versin f PTS needs t be installed bth n the server and n the client. In this case the client is the SharePint Server. SPN (Service Principal Names) cnfiguratin utility. T cnfigure SPN's yu need the tl setspn.exe that can be dwnladed frm Fr mre in detail requirements please read fllwing articles: - Enabling Kerbers Authenticatin fr Cnfiguratin 1. Enable Kerbers in the IIS Metabase n yur SharePint machine T cnfigure a virtual server that is extended with Windws SharePint Services t use Kerbers authenticatin, yu must first enable Kerbers in IIS. T enable Kerbers n the virtual server, fllw these steps: a. On yur SharePint server, start Ntepad, and then pen the \system32\inetsrv\metabase.xml file lcated n the hard disk. b. In the <IIsWebServer> sectin, lcate the fllwing line: NTAuthenticatinPrviders="NTLM" Mdify the line s that it reads exactly as fllws: NTAuthenticatinPrviders="Negtiate,NTLM" c. Save changes and then quit Ntepad. d. Restart IIS. 2. Cnfigure SharePint machine t be Trusted fr Delegatin T cnfigure yur SharePint server t be trusted fr delegatin, fllw these steps: a. Start Active Directry Users and Cmputers n yur. b. In the left pane, click Cmputers. c. In the right pane, right-click the name f yur SharePint server, and then click Prperties. d. Click the General tab, click t select the Trust cmputer fr delegatin check bx, and then click OK. 7

Cnfigure the dmain accunt t be trusted fr delegatin This is nly necessary if the applicatin pl fr yur SharePint service is running under a dmain accunt. T cnfigure the dmain accunt t be trusted fr delegatin, fllw these steps: a. On the dmain cntrller, start Active Directry Users and Cmputers. b. In the left pane, click Users. c. In the right pane, right-click the name f the accunt that runs the SharePint applicatin pl, and then click Prperties. d. Click the Accunt tab, under Accunt Optins, click t select the Accunt is trusted fr delegatin check bx, and then click OK. e. Quit Active Directry Users and Cmputers. 4. Cnfigure Service Principal Names Yu nly have t cnfigure SPN's if SharePint Service and/r Analysis Services is running under a dmain accunt (I.e. yu d nt have t perfrm this step if yur services is running under a built-in security principal such as NT Authrity\Netwrk. a. Perfrm this step if SharePint Services runs in a applicatin pl under a dmain accunt. Type the fllwing line at the cmmand prmpt n yur SharePint machine, and then press Enter, where ServerName is the NETBIOS r DNS name f yur SharePint server machine, Dmain is the name f yur dmain, and UserName is the name f the dmain user accunt running yur SharePint Services applicatin pl: setspn -A HTTP/ServerName Dmain\UserName b. Perfrm this step if Analysis Services runs under a dmain accunt. Type the fllwing line at the cmmand prmpt n yur Analysis Services machine and then press Enter, where ServerName is the NETBIOS r DNS name f yur Analysis Server machine, Dmain is the name f yur dmain, and UserName is the name f the dmain user accunt running yur MSSQLServerOLAPService: setspn -A MSOLAPSvc/ServerName Dmain\UserName 5. Cnfigure cnnectin string fr the data surces Each data surce definitin must have the SSPI prperty set t Kerbers t enable Kerbers Authenticatin. Add SSPI=Kerbers; t the cnnectin string n all defined data surces. See hw t cnfigure a data surce. Nte: T verify that Kerbers Authenticatin wrks fr yur OLAP server yu can run the MDX sample applicatin lcally n the OLAP server. In the Cnnect dialg add the string ;SSPI=Kerbers after the server name and try t cnnect. Example f register a Server Principal Name Say yur MSOLAPServices runs n a machine called Mercury and yu've decided t run the service under a dmain accunt named Mariner10. In this case, yu add a SPN (Service Principal Name) n yur Mercury machine fr MSOLAPSvc with Mariner10 as the service accunt: setspn -A MSOLAPSvc/mercury.acme.cm MyDmain\Mariner10 setspn -A MSOLAPSvc/mercuery MyDmain\Mariner10 Register NETBIOS r/and DNS name It can be cnvenient t use bth NETBIOS and DNS name because it allws the client t specify either name, but bear in mind that NETBIOS names might nt be unique acrss the directry and, if a duplicate SPN is fund in the directry, authenticatin will fail. If yu're wrried abut this, use nly DNS names when registering SPNs, and make sure yur clients always use the fully qualified DNS name when making authenticated cnnectins t a server using Kerbers. 12 Cnfigure DSP Web Part Server t run in COM+ Yu can cnfigure DSP Web Part Server t run as a COM+ applicatin and use a specified accunt when accessing the OLAP cube. This accunt will be used fr all users that access the web parts. 1. Preparatins needed befre starting cnfiguratin a. If nt already exists create an NT/AD-accunt t be used by the applicatin t access yur OLAP cubes. b. Assign a rle in yur cube/s and add NT/AD-accunt prepared abve t that rle. c. If nt already exists create a NT/AD-grup that will be used t give access t the applicatin. This is nrmally the same grup that will be used fr giving access t yur WSS sites. 2. Start the Cmpnent Services manager n the prtal server. a. Expand the ndes Cmpnent Services Cmputers My Cmputer COM+ Applicatins. b. Mark the COM+ Applicatins nde. c. Right click and chse New Applicatin. d. Click Next in the first welcme step. e. Click Create an empty applicatin. f. Name the applicatin dspws. Let the activatin type be Server applicatin. Click Next. g. Chse This user as accunt. Enter the NT/AD accunt prepared in step 1.a abve (D nt use Interactive user). Click Next. h. Chse Add rle. Name the rle wpusers. Click OK and then Next. i. Expand the wpusers nde and select Users. Click Add. Add NT/AD-accunt prepared in step 1.c abve. Click Next. j. Click Finish. 3. Assign the cmpnent t the applicatin a. Expand the applicatin created abve, dspws, and select the Cmpnents nde. b. Right click cmpnents nde and chse New - Cmpnent. Click Next in the Welcme step. c. Click Imprt cmpnent(s) that are already registered. d. Chse the cmpnent dspws.clswpserver. Click Next. e. Click Finish. 4. Assign the rles t the cmpnents a. Expand the ndes dspws Cmpnents and select the dspws.clswpserver nde. b. Right click dspws.clswpserver and chse Prperties. c. Click Security tab. d. Select wpusers in the rle list. e. Click OK. Nte: When running the DSP Web Part Wizard n the prtal server an errr, Permissin Denied, can ccur when chsing t preview the web part. T avid the errr make sure the user that runs the wizard is a member f the rle wpusers assigned t the COM+ applicatin (See step 2.1). 10

13 Analysis Services and HTTP Cnnectins If yu want t cnnect t Analysis Services using a HTTP Cnnectin yu have t cnfigure yur server t enable HTTP cnnectin and cnfigure yur data surces fr yur web part t use HTTP. Read fllwing article at Micrsft web site fr infrmatin hw t cnfigure and trublesht Analysis Services HTTP cnnectin. 11

14 Business Screcard Manager Cnfiguratin T register DSP Prtal Editin Reprt View Server cmpnent with the Micrsft Business Screcard Manager Server, yu need t edit the web.cnfig file n the SharePint machine where yu deply yur screcards. If yu have multiple extended virtual servers yu have t edit the web.cnfig fr each virtual server. 1. First, add fllwing elements t the <cnfigsectin> sectin: <sectingrup name="bpm"> <sectin name="custmreprtviews" type="system.cnfiguratin.dictinarysectinhandler, System, Versin= , Culture=neutral, PublicKeyTken=b77a5c561934e089" /> </sectingrup> 2. 15 Cnfiguratin file The web.cnfig file is the place where yu specify cnfiguratin ptins fr DSP Server. There is a web.cnfig file fr each extended virtual server. By default, the web.cnfig file is lcated in the c:\inetpub\wwwrt\ flder. A DSP Server installatin autmatically add fllwing entry t the web.cnfig file fr all existing virtual servers: <SafeCntrl Assembly="DecisinSupprtPanel.SharePint.WebPart, Versin= , Culture=neutral, PublicKeyTken=4e98b37828e9cbce" Namespace="DecisinSupprtPanel.SharePint.WebPart" TypeName="*" Safe="True" /> This entry is necessary fr the DSP Web Part assembly t run. In the SharePint envirnment, n web part assembly withut this entry will be able t render. Trying t add a web part t a page withut a safe registered assembly will generate an errr in the page. The web.cnfig is als used t cnfigure the fllwing: Server defined data surces Caching settings Lgging activities Web Part menu entries Business Scre Manager cnfiguratin If yu have multiple extended virtual servers yu have t edit the web.cnfig fr each virtual server. 13

16 Add custm table symbls Image based symbls can be extend by adding new sub flders cntaining gif images t the symbl resurce flder. Each flder shuld cntain gif images named symbl_-1.gif, symbl_0.gif, symbl_1.gif and symbl_null.gif. Selected symbl is based n measure value. The measure used fr the symbl value must return -1, 0 r 1 (r Null). When the returned value is -1 symbl in file symbl_-1.gif will be used, fr value 0 will symbl in file symbl_0.gif be used and fr value 1 will symbl in file symbl_1.gif be used. Yu cnfigure yur measure with frmat SYMBOL:<flder name>. 17 Add custm table frmats The frmat f the Table Web Part is handled thrugh linked Cascading Style Sheets. The cllectin f available style sheets can be extended by adding yur wn style sheets t the stylesheet flder in the web part resurce flder. See example Using table frmats fr hw t cnfigure the frmat fr a table web part. Stylesheet resurce flder path \\Prgram Files\Cmmn Files\Micrsft Shared\web server extensins\wpresurces\decisinsupprtpanel.sharepint.webpart\ e98b37828e9cbce\styleshe et Cascading Style Sheet naming cnventins A cascading style sheet cnsists f rules, the rules are referenced by html elements by name and since the web parts are embedded int the web part page, style rules must be unique identified t enable different layuts n elements used in the web parts. The name f the file and all rules in the file must include an unique ID. Name f file: name_id.css, where ID must be unique amng all table stylesheets. Rules in file: prefix-id-suffix, where the ID must be equal t id used in file name. Hw t add a custmized style sheet Cpy standard_00.css and give the new file a name with an ID greater then 49 and nt already used. (00-49 are preserved ID's). Open the file in a text editr and replace -00- with the id used in the filename. This is an example shwing hw t add a new style sheet that will give larger fnts in rw header and larger fnt and bld clumn headers. 1. Cpy standard_00.ss and rename it t t LargeAndThick_50.css. 2. Open the file in ntepad.exe and replace -00- with Change fnt-size t 10pt and add fnt-weight:bld in rle td.dsp-50-clumnheader. 4. Change fnt-size t 10pt in rle td.dsp-50-rwheader. 5. Save the file. 15
