Overview Prcessr Expert Sftware - Micrcntrllers Driver Suite 5.3 is a rapid applicatin design tl released fr Freescale Kinetis and CldFire+ devices. It cmbines easy-t-use cmpnent-based applicatin creatin with an expert knwledge system. The tl can generate cde fr IAR C Cmpiler, CdeWarrir C Cmpiler r GNU C Cmpiler. The fllwing cmpilers are supprted: Cde generated fr CdeWarrir ARM C cmpiler is cmpatible with CdeWarrir fr MCU 10.1 and Cde generated fr CdeWarrir CldFire C cmpiler is cmpatible with CdeWarrir fr MCU 10.1 and Cde generated fr IAR ARM cmpiler is cmpatible with versins 5.4, 5.5 and 6.1 f the IAR ARM C cmpiler. Cde generated fr IAR ARM cmpiler is cmpatible with versins 1.2 f the IAR CldFire C cmpiler. Cde generated fr GNU C Cmpiler fr ARM architecture is cmpatible with Surcery G++ ARM EABI tlchain. Installatin These installatin instructins describe the crrect installatin prcess int Eclipse. Fr Eclipse 3.6: 1. Dwnlad and install Eclipse 3.6 IDE fr C/C++ Develpers (if it is nt installed yet). Windws versin f Eclipse 3.6 can be dwnladed frm here: 2. Dwnlad the Extended Eclipse Updater package - cm.freescale.eclipse3.6.updater.custm.updatesite.zip. 3. Dwnlad the Prcessr Expert Sftware - Micrcntrllers Driver Suite pack - cm.freescale.eclipse3.6.pexdrv5_3.updatesite.zip. 2

Install the Extended Eclipse Updater by selecting Help > Install New Sftware (this is required t install Micrcntrllers Driver Suite). 6. Add a new install site using the Add buttn. Select Archive... and brwse t the cm.freescale.eclipse3.6.updater.custm.updatesite.zip. 7. Type name f the install site int the Name field (e.g. Updater). 8. Install the plug-in frm the site. Accept the license agreement during the installatin prcess. 9. Restart Eclipse. 10. Install the Prcessr Expert plug-in by selecting Help > Install New Sftware. 11. Add a new install site using the Add buttn. Select Archive... and brwse t the cm.freescale.eclipse3_6.pexdrv5_3.updatesite.zip file. 12. Type name f the install site int the Name field (e.g. PExDrv) 13. Install the plug-in frm the site. Accept the license agreement during the installatin prcess. 14. By default the Prcessr Expert directry is created as a subdirectry f the eclipse installatin: {eclipse}\prcessrexpert. 15. Restart Eclipse. 16. Open Prcessr Expert windws by selecting menu cmmand Prcessr Expert > Shw Views. Rearrange Prcessr Expert windws t suit yur needs. Fr Eclipse 3.5: 1. Dwnlad and install Eclipse 3.5 IDE fr C/C++ Develpers (if it is nt installed yet). Windws versin f Eclipse 3.5 can be dwnladed frm here: 2. Fllw the installatin instructins fr the Eclipse 3.6 with the fllwing exceptins: a. Use the crrespnding Eclipse Updater package - cm.freescale.eclipse3.5.updater.custm.updatesite.zip. b. Use the crrespnding Prcessr Expert Sftware - Micrcntrllers Driver Suite pack - cm.freescale.eclipse3.5.pexdrv5_3.updatesite.zip. Nte: A knwn issue in Eclipse 3.5 envirnment may cause prblems when installing Prcessr Expert Sftware - Micrcntrllers Driver Suite. This errr is an errr f the Eclipse 3.5 envirnment (bug lgs and It is fixed in Eclipse 3.6. T avid any errrs during installatin make sure that: 1. The checkbx "Cntact all update sites during install t find required sftware" is unchecked when installing Micrcntrllers Driver Suite. OR 3

4 Prcessr Expert Sftware - Micrcntrllers Driver Suite Eclipse envirnment has been updated befre installing Micrcntrllers Driver Suite (using menu "Help > Check fr updates"). Detailed installatin instructins can be fund in the Installatin Guide (PEXDRVSINSTALLUG.pdf), lcated in the PrcessrExpert\Help flder. D. Hw t create a new Prcessr Expert prject 1. T create a new prject select the menu cmmand File > New > Prcessr Expert Prject. 2. Enter prject name. 3. Select derivative fr the prject. 4. Select prject type - Prcessr Expert r Device Initializatin. 5. Select the MCU variant(s) and Prcessr Expert cnfiguratins that yu wuld like t have available in the prject. 6. Select the target cmpiler the cde will be generated fr. 7. Click Finish. A new Prcessr Expert Prject will be created. When using generated files in a third party envirnment (e.g. IAR Embeddded Wrkbench) a crrect path t header files stred in the flder PrcessrExpert\lib must be set. Linker file fr the prject shall be prvided by user. Detailed instructins can be fund in the Getting Started Guide (PEXDRVSGETSTARTEDUG.pdf), lcated in the PrcessrExpert\Help flder. E.
